  • So, so, so, so terrible

    1.0
I just watched the first episode of Cracked, and wow, I hardly know what to complain about first.

This show is a mix of an unlikely premise (cops team with psychiatrists to investigate crimes that involve emotionally unstable people) used as a foundation for a conventional cop drama with mismatched partners who can learn from each other.

The dialogue is often tin eared, and some scenes are truly painful. One I particularly disliked involved a resentful cop psychoanalyzing his psychiatrist partner in a hostile, pop-psychology terms that would be absurd in the real world but that by her reaction were dead on. There's also a terrible, downright embarrassing and utterly absurd confrontation between the cop and the killer near the end.

If you want to see a show with an interesting take on psychology, watch Perception. If you want a good cop show, watch the Bridge. If you have no standards, watch Cracked.moreless
  • A Pioneering Show That Makes a Difference

    9.5
This show is not only an entertaining show in a great sort of way, but more importantly it makes you understand and think about the severe problems people with mental illness have with coping with everyday life, that most of us never see or when we do we look the other way and don't give it a second thought. Whether it is Bi Polar, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder of the vets retuning from various wars and how badly and inadequately they are rehabilitated, or just many other mental illnesses you really find yourself wanting the best for these people and for them to get the help they desperately need, where in you normal crime show you want the law breakers punished to the full extent of the law. The main characters Aidan Black (David Sutcliffe) has his on emotional /mental problem (PTSD), his partner and founder of the Psych Unit a psychiatrist Dr Daniela Ridley (Stephanie von Pfetten) is trying to solve her own personal problems in her life but also be the voice of reason for the mentally ill criminals the squad deals with. They work well as a team, Dayo Ade, Luisa D'Oliveira & Mayko Nguyen topping off a great cast. Really glad this show has been renewed as I think it can only get better and think there will be many accolades for this pioneering show which has had the guts to deal with a very serious problem that all communities around the world are dealing with on a greater basis ever year. Hopefully this show will open peoples eyes and these unfortunate people will get the help they desperately need.moreless
