Show Summary

Craft in America is a PBS documentary series that strives to advance and document original handcrafted works on all levels of skill within America. It premiered in 2007 and its first season was broadcast over the course of two years. The show celebrates and explores the work of human hands and how these work impact our nation's cultural heritage. Each of the shows episodes deal with certain attributes of crafts, such as their origins, process, memory, landscape and community, for instance. The show has won the Peabody Award. Artists featured within the show include Garry Knox Burnnett, Pat Courtney Gold, Mary Jackson, Tom Joyce, and Sam Maloof amongst many others. The show is interactive, as it has books, touring art exhibitions and a website as extensions of itself. The show has made two full seasons so far. Its second season premiered on October 7th, 2009. The show airs both on the regular PBS station and PBS HD where it is shown in high definition.moreless
