He devises a plan to kill and rob an elderly pawn broker who lives above him and becomes convinced that the plan is beyond his control, that his actions are predetermined. The grisly crime doesn't go as planned, and Raskolnikov struggles to maintain his health and sanity as the guilt weighs on him, while at the same time developing the affections of his beautiful friend Sonya (Belmont) and avoiding a cunning detective (McDiarmid).moreless
