the show has had many "famous" guest stars playing the unsub and Their performances are always absolutely amazing... some of them are :

(S01-E09 Derailed) : Chris Bauer as Dr. Theodore "Ted" Bryar
(S02-E08 Empty Planet) : Jamie Elman as Kenneth Roberts
(S02-E13/23 No Way Out/No Way Out ptII: The Evilution of Frank) : Keith Carradine as Frank and Amy Madigan as Jane (She may not have played the unsub but her performance was definitely note-worthy)
(S02-E14/15 The Big Game/Revelations) : James Van Der Beek as Raphael / Tobias Henkel
(S03-E02 In Birth And Death) : Eddie Cibrian as Joe Smith
(S03-E10 True Night) : Frankie Muniz as Jonny McHale
(S04-E03 Minimal Loss) : Luke Perry as Benjamin Cyrus
(S04-E08 Masterpiece) : Jason Alexander as Prof. Rothchild

    ..and many more I'm sure..

Which one(s) stand out for you???

Since no one is posting any replies in that identical thread on another message board, I'll add Jason O'Mara as the Mill Creek Killer in "The Last Word" in this one.

Jason became a U.S. citizen last Monday after working for many years in America as a resident alien. Congrats to him and to his family

Mitch Pileggi as the unsub in 'Normal' was outstandingly creepy. And extremely ironic considering he played an FBI supervisor in X-Files.

I just remembered that i really liked Micheal Boatman in 'Soul Mates'. In the beginning, I totally fought the BAU team made a mistake, he cant be the unsub. But then the whole partner thing with George Newbern.. brilliant.

My favorite Unsub guest stars would have to be...DJ Qualls, Jason Alexander, Michael Boatman, Jason Wiles, Eddie Cibrian, Mitch Pileggi...there's so many more I could name!

I always love how they manage to get "Third Watch" cast members in the episodes (Jason Wiles, Skipp Sudduth, Michael Beach, Anthony Ruivivar), not to mention former "ER" cast (Erik Palladino, for example, was in the 3rd season finale of CM and ER was created by John Wells, who also had a hand in Third Watch).

That's one reason I love "Criminal Minds"; since it's connected to two of my OTHER favorite shows, I never know who's gonna show up!

I loved Keith Carridine as Frank, I think what I like most about his portrayal, was that he also played the head FBI agent on the show Dexter. What a role reversal for him, first seeing him as the serial killer, and then next seeing him in such an official capacity, very odd, and wierd.

And, on a side note, the guy that plays JJ's fiance, showed up on this week's episode of CSI:Miami, as somebody being questioned. I found that pretty cool, I love watching characters we grow to love on our fave shows show up on other sitcoms playing a different kind of role.

I was a fan of the show Invasion, so Eddie Cibrian was one of my favorites. Kieth Carradine as Frank was also a favorite of mine.

There have been a lot of great ones but the standout for me so far is Mitch Pileggi in Normal. That episode was so well-written and he really made the character convincing with his great subtle acting skills.

I think my two favorites were James Van Der Beek and Wil Wheaton as Floyd Hansen in "Paradise." Nothing like seeing the scrawny little boy from "Stand by Me" all grown up and killing couples for fun.

the cannibal from the episode lucky was super creepy. And the guy who was confused about his sexuality (finally impersonated a german guy) was an interesting unsub.

I think that my fav guest stars have to be James Van Der Beek - I thought that he was great in Revelations and I also loved Luke Perry in Minimal Loss. There have been many other creepy guest stars, but those two were my favs.

I agree with you here, Jaime Kennedy played the UnSub, and wow, what a transformation, seeing a comedian go from funny to a pretty seriously deranged character is amazing. There's something about this episode that always sticks out to me, I guess it may be the realization that everybody ate the victim...and sort of struck with me ever since.
