You have got to be kidding me. Nothing about this episode worked. Nothing. From the hyped up excuse for the BAU getting involved in a one-off murder (which this was at the time) - 'it might be the MOB!' Really? Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but the BAU wouldn't be involved in a Mob case; the FBI does have other departments, including an Organized Crime division. But, no, they go racing off to Atlantic City. Of course, the mob doesn't tend to smack people over the head with bowling trophies either, but I digress... Oh, and he left the money. Which could have been fingerprinted. And then the prints that matched at each murder would have pointed right at our unsub. During the 'giving the profile' scene, I was expecting to see a crime scene tech waving an arm madly in the background - "Ooooh, hey guys! I've got the name and address right here!"

We're back to magical fairy-dust profiling, too. Immediate assumptions reached from little to no clues. And an unsub who, if he really is this delusional, shouldn't be at all hard to track down and catch. Even in Jersey.

Now we've got the BAU using a sting operation to infiltrate a poker game because, hey, that's the only way it would work, right? They don't have access to a search warrant, or badges that would give them access to this place. Gotta use Rossi's money and Reid's (admitedly, the best part of this crappy ep) poker skills. Was this meant to be a farcical ep? 'Cause that's the only way it worked. Reid is ushered out of the "club," letting the unsub escape - mostly because the FBI could only afford one van and two extras to watch the exits. Holy feeble feebs, Batman!

The 'stand-off' at the wife's place was teeth-grindingly bad. If Rossi could walk into the place to "talk," he could have walked in with a gun and taken the guy out. Or, wait, maybe the rest of the Jersey cops and FBI agents were still at the Casino?

Garcia was useless - what, she didn't 'notice' the dead man's partner in his business or who bailed him out or any of the connections until Hotch asked? Tech goddess my Aunt Fanny. And the ridiculous 'misunderstanding with Morgan' was a lame excuse for showing off Shemar's bod. Emphasis on lame. Just put him in undercover at a male strip club and be done with it - it would make about as much sense as anything in this ep.

This ep just made me furious for wasting my time watching it.

Finnegan77 pretty much summed things up. The Morgan towel scene at Garcia's? Real professional stuff there. On CBS owned Showtime the towel would've fallen off of course! We had some popcorn and watched a movie. She doesn't remember anything but can hack into any site in the World. The poorly acted unsub hits the jackpot covered in blood and no red flags? Yup,lame. I'll give it a 4.

Triple ditto on what Finn said. It's February sweeps and something was needed to tease in the key demo, so they decided to toss in a gratuitous semi-nude shot of Shemar Moore (who has the uncanny ability to take a shower and not get his face and/or head wet). And then they insult our collective intelligence by intimating that Morgan would actually take advantage of a close friend while she was intoxicated. Yeah right... date rape... like that's gonna happen.

It's a crying shame that the New Jersey Organized Crime Unit isn't capable of investigating one murder by bowling trophy in a casino. This could instigate a mob war -- in NEW JERSEY? At least Rossi knew all about the subject. Whew! Thank goodness for the BAU

One point for hearing Robert Davi sing "Day In, Day Out" during the opening credits.

*snerfle* Yes, they were all thanking their lucky stars that the hifalutin BAU could come along and screw up just about everything they touched. Heaven knows, their psychological abracadabra is what busted this one wiiiiide open!

Were you amused at the way the team members used their favorite mobster movies to solve the case? Vito Corleone would be so proud!

About those ratings: "Criminal Minds dropped 8 percent from its last original to a 3.4, and CSI fell 21 percent to a 2.7 in the demo." Maybe next time they'll try a shower scene with Paget

What were Reids favorite crime movies? They were in French so I couldn't write them down to look them up.

Before I read anybody's comments, I just want to say that I was pretty disappointed in this episode. I stuck by it til the end, I'm a loyal CM watcher, but this was probably one of the first episodes that I was looking forward to deleting off the DVR to make space for something else. Wow. I don't even know where to begin, probably with Dean Cain as the guest of the episode. He reminded me WAY TOO MUCH like Eddie Cibrian (not sure if that's his name or not), but the one who carved out women's hearts and kept them in jars, and had that young son. The UnSubs (or rather Subs at this point, because why should we be surprised anymore on who the villain is?) should not look similar to one another, they have to have discerning features, ok, so Dean was chunkier than Eddie, but they look an awful lot a like that I didn't like it.

The giving of the profile felt so forced, everyone looked like they were going through the motions of reading off who the police should be focusing their attention on. Everything felt off, the characters, and I really didn't like the story at all, I guess I was hoping it would be something different. And the mob-related angle of it felt like one of those pitches, "Hey, let's throw in some mob stuff, because obviously when crime is committed in NJ, the mob must be involved, and it'll spice things up a bit," no spicing occured, I wish it WERE mob-related, maybe it would've been better!

Ok finished reading everyone's comments, they sound about the same as mine...thank goodness I'm not the only one who did NOT like this episode one bit. omg, I'm so hoping it gets better from here, and please use these characters to their potential! I feel as though they were wasted on this episode, just because NCIS just celebrated their 200th episode on Tuesday night does not mean the rest of the shows need to slack off, come on people, we want great t.v.! Ok, I think I'm done ranting, for now.

The first two new episodes of 2012 were cooking with gas. This one...the only time my interest was ever captivated was during the discussion / playing out of Reid's poker scene. Loved that part...as for the rest, too boring to grab my attention. Spent the entire time zoning out on Pinterest.

We get it, Morgan. You have a beautiful body, and any excuse to show it off is the one reason I'm assuming the Garcia side-story was cooked up.

I think that's the only thing that really pissed me off about that little set up. For starters it isn't the first time they've hung out, watched movies, and he crashed on her couch, it's been mentioned before, but the thought that she was daft enough to truly believe that he would have taken advantage of her while she was inebriated drove me nuts. It was insulting to his character and totally against his character in general. Other than that I didn't mind seeing shirtless Shemar...it was another one of those cutesy scenes that they've been trying to insert every few episodes, so to me it was no different than them all having dinner together or having prank wars or whatever...another attempt on their part to pry a bit more into the personal lives of the team members and lighten the mood with cutesy family moments or whatever. It was something else to chuckle at. I was entertained by the episode as a whole but I do agree with the majority about the nature of how they got involved, the profiling, the results etc. I was even a bit bummed that it wasn't a great use of someone like Dean Cain. I liked it well enough for what it was but I do agree with the masses.

phf3947 and bluemystique, thank you for putting into words what I've been thinking all week! The Garcia-Derek story has been bothering me since I watched the episode, but I couldn't put words to it. As for the rest of the episode, I enjoyed Reid's undercover moments, but otherwise, I thought the episode was too boring and contrived. The unsub was leaving blatant clues everywhere, but no one could possibly figure them out besides the BAU. The ending when he showed up at his sister-in-law's house was entirely predictable. The wife told him where she was running away to. If you are running away, you don't tell your pursuer where to find you! I sincerely hope the next episode will make up for this one!
