A scantily clad woman, who is apparently a call girl, dances around a hotel suite before sitting on the lap of a business man. She hands the man a drink. He takes a sip from the glass and begins struggling to breathe. As the man is dying, the woman makes a phone call and schedules her next appointment.
Seated in his office, Aaron Hotchner watches a video on his computer of his son, Jack, riding a bicycle. He receives a telephone call from Patrick Jackson, the Texas attorney general, who asks him to come to Dallas alone and to exercise discretion. Once he arrives in Texas, he learns he has been invited there because a very important investment banker named Hoyt Ashford has been murdered and his lawyers want to cover it up and call it a suicide. However, this the second identical death. Hotch calls in the team, but tells them they're going to have to be careful due to the politics involved.
After speaking with A.G. Jackson in the hotel lobby in Dallas, he enters the elevator to go to his room. A beautiful blonde woman is already there. She's dressed as a business woman and makes polite conversation while discussing Tokyo markets. She exits the elevator, walks down the hall, and begins to disrobe as she knocks on a room door. She's the same woman who had poisoned her client and has just reached her next appointment.
The BAU is on the plane to Dallas discussing the case with Hotch on conference call. They go through how she kills them with poison, her M.O., and the other issues. One item is a press release that says her victim died peacefully in his home. Another victim had the same statement made after his death.
In the hotel room, the woman wakes her client from the night before and sends him home to pick up his kids. As he is getting dressed, she goes over to his laptop and looks up Agent Hotchner on the internet and watches a press conference. She looks nervous.
Morgan and Prentiss pay a visit to Hoyt Ashford's wife, who tells them she knew he saw prostitutes.
Outside the police station, Hotch meets a woman named Ellen Bartlett, who represents the attorneys of the two men who had been killed. She doesn't want to reveal much information, but she gives him a lead to a real estate agent named Lauren. Reid and Prentiss go to see her at a rental property and learn she is a madam. They also learn there is a particular type of girl that these men are looking for - one who knows how to act like a woman who was raised in a privileged environment. Meanwhile, another executive is being killed and the woman smears lipstick over his eyelids.
A man sent by Ellen Bartlett arrives at the latest crime scene. He tries to get information from the FBI, but they use him to get a tax and financial records on the murdered men.
Garcia is called to check out the murdered men. She discovers they don't want to support their children, but they're willing to spend large sums of money on call girls and other expensive luxury items, such as cars, houses, and boats. The team uses this new information to profile the men and, in turn, to profile the unsub.
The BAU decides to give the unsub's profile to the lawyers. One of the lawyers recognizes that leads them to a downtown penthouse owned by Megan Kane.
As the team enters Megan's penthouse, she is meeting Trent, another client, in a bar. Megan seems to be very sympathetic toward him. He's obviously feeling uncomfortable and tells her that the almost didn't come. She asks why, and he tells it his lawyers warned him that there was a woman posing as a call girl and is killing her clients. He tells her his lawyers had met with the FBI and someone had released information about a penthouse. He tells her his men already had the FBI in their pockets and the FBI knows how to "play ball." She smiles and says, "Let's get out of here," hinting that things were about to get much better for him. They go to his car.
Back at the penthouse, the team discovers a purity ring and evidence that Megan reads Voltaire in French as well as provocative attire in the closet. The phone rings and they proceed to track the call. The answering machine activates and it's Megan Kane calling her own number. She asks that "Aaron Hotchner pick up."
When Hotch complies, she tells him, "I thought I could trust you."
He replies, "Who says you can't?"
Megan tells him she is disappointed and doesn't believe there will be justice. She asks if he had walked out on his family, and he tells her he didn't. She absolves him, and says that he's not like the men she sees. But she tells him he's just another whore because he does the bidding of those men that she kills. She says he's not doing his job and he wants her to disappear like "they" do. He talks to her, makes a connection, and tries to get her to turn herself in. As they speak on the phone, she shoots a terrorized Trent in the head as he sits beside her in the car.
Megan leaves Trent's car, with blood splattered on her face. She walks away and calls the press. FBI and the police arrive at the scene.
Hotch and Rossi meet with Ellen Bartlett, a former call girl, to find out who had bought her client list from her. Hotch becomes angry at her coy behavior, and she gives him the information he seeks - Ellen had sold her client list to Megan, and Megan's father had left her mother for a younger woman when she was a child.
They locate Megan's father, Andrew Kane, to find out where he is likely to meet his daughter – a hotel. However, Ellen Bartlett shows up instead of Kane. However, they are able to pinpoint the location based on the term "ivory marble floors" that Megan had used on the phone with Hotch. It was the same hotel where he had first Megan in the elevator.
Meanwhile, Megan is in the hotel with her father, arguing about what she's done. He convinces her he will help her and asks for her list of clients.
She goes to her purse on the balcony to get her BlackBerry and sees the FBI arriving below. She turns to her father and hands the phone to him. He places it in his jacket pocket and leaves, telling her he'll see her at the police station.
Megan is seated on the balcony when Hotch and Morgan arrive. The gun is on a table and she's just finished drinking from a glass. Hotch sits down beside her and they talk briefly. Meanwhile, her father is getting into his car in the parking garage. As he tries to turn on the BlackBerry, he reads a message that the SIM is missing.
As Megan and Hotch continue to talk, she hands him the SIM card for the phone. She tells him she can't understand why his wife left him. Then asks him if he will stay with her. He promises to stay and watches as she dies from her own poisoned drink.
In the parking garage, Andrew Kane is arrested.
A voiceover from the press conference indicates information had been leaked and perhaps justice had been served after all.
