Prentiss is referring to the 1971 Stanley Kubrick film based on the Anthony Burgess novel which detailed the exploits of a psychopathic young man and his later programming by the government. Both parts of his life prominently featured Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor Op. 125.
