Critical Situation is an American documentary television series that ran from June 2007 to March 2008 on National Geographic, totaling 13 episodes in its one season duration. The documentary takes a look at various disasters and violent incidents, taking a look at the immediate and potential long-term effects, as well as possible causes. In one episode, Critical Situation examines the North Hollywood shoot out of February 1997 in which a 45 gun battle ensued after two policemen caught a pair of bank robbers holding up a Los Angeles Bank of America. Another episode looks at the emergency landing of the Apollo 13 in April 1970, after an oxygen tank explosion signaled disaster for the crew. The show also takes on occurrences from around the globe, featuring such instances as the intense Battle of Takur Ghar with Al Queda in March 2002, the Moscow theatre hostage crisis in October 2002, the thunderstorm that had permanent unfortunate effects on participant of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December 1998, and many more examples.
