  • great episode, great way to start a season

This one is a great one, good way to start the season!

Macy and Nigel are at a power plant to pick a guy that died electrocuted. Meanwhile Woody gets to the morgue looking for Jordan, he has a police ball and invited her to go with him. She is out on a pick up with Bug. Basically she ran lol

The guys at the power plant are taking the dead guy off the cables and when they start the power a whole zone blacks out. Jordan and Bug are in a tunnel and there's a crash. Woody and Devan are in the crypt elevator and it stops, there is also a body in there. They manage to get out by the elevator shaft.

At the tunnel, there's a dead guy and a woman trap in her car. They manage to get her out later.

It turns out that the black out was part of a plan to commit robbery. They are 4, one died at the power plan, another was killed and the other two are alive. Jordan and Bug figured out one of them and that guy gets shot by the other that was pretending to be a good guy.

Well Macy and the rest id the body from the plant, discover the plans and rush to the tunnel, they know they are there, Macy heard the gun shots.

Once they get there Jordan and Bug already have the guy down and the woman can now get to the hospital.

A lot of action just like I like it...

Oh and Jordan was "replaced", Woody left the morgue with Devan. She looked sad...moreless

Wow…strong season opener. Lots of emotion and tension, and some comical moments thrown in.

We start the episode out with Garret and Nigel at a power plant. A dead body in a mess of high voltage wired and Kenmore Square in the dark. They remove the body, go to turn the power back on and then poof! All of Boston goes dark. At that moment, Jordan and Bug end up in a huge pile up in the Ted Williams Tunnel (TWT) and Devan and Woody are stuck in the freight elevator (with a smelly body) at the morgue.

All the stories entwine at the end, but I’ll start with Woody and Devan. Woody arrives at the morgue to pick Jordan up as his date (well – arm piece, I think is the more accurate description) to the Governor’s Ball (the biggest night of his life—he’s getting an award for bravery - only he's mixed the date up, as we learn at the end). Jordan’s not there. She’s making a drop off—once again avoiding Woody. Is this going to be an occurring them AGAIN this season? (Do I even need to ask that question) Devan teases Woody mercilessly (as she says though, she wouldn’t tease if she didn’t know he could handle it). They get in the freight elevator and that’s when all of Boston loses power and they get stuff. Devan has a way about her. She ticks Sydney off big time by constantly referring to him as ‘new guy’. Once she’s out of the elevator (which really wasn’t even Sydney’s doing) she goes back to calling him ‘new guy’. Sydney was quick and witty and I liked him. They mange to get themselves out of the elevator and no sooner do Garret and Nigel arrive with the burnt to a crisp body. They know the man isn’t the 60 year old guy (long time employee) who was at first thought to be the victim. They learn who the deceased is and head over to his apartment where they find detailed plans for a robbery/heist of some kind.

While this is going on Jordan and Bug are in the TWT in a big pile up. There’s a dead guy in the first car of the pile up and Jordan tells Bug it’s the car that cut her off. She wonders where the second person/passenger is. She swears there were two people in the car. Bug says he wasn’t paying any attention. They gather up everyone and check people out for injuries. There’s a few minor injuries, the most serious though is a mother pinned between the seat and steering wheel of her car. Her daughter probably no more than eight years old, is worried and looks to Jordan for help. They manage to get her out but she’s in rough shape. She’s broken a leg and Jordan thinks there’s probably some internal bleeding going on. Jordan handles the little girl well. She comforts her, tells her a joke, even promises that her mother is going to be okay (a bit rash, but Jordan will make sure she does everything in her power to keep that promise). It was nice to see Jordan interact with a child. She did a good job, even though at first she seemed to be a bit like a fish out of water.

While Jordan is tending to the mother, Bug is taking the dead body out of the car. He realizes that the body was murdered, before the crash ever happen. He played his role beautifully. Went along with Jordan and her 'shredding the stomach line' (or something of the such) story. There are times when I think Bug is too meek, but he was strong in the face of disaster here and I think he did a wonderful job.

Back to Garret and Woody, they figure out what’s going on with the robbers and realize that the robbers are in the TWT with Jordan and Bug. Garret calls to warn Jordan what’s going on, but it’s too late. We’ve gone from four bad guys to two and now to one. He then forces Jordan and Bug to do some dissecting. That whole scene was wonderful. I wanted to laugh despite the fact that the guy was holding a gun on Bug and Jordan. It reminded me of the episode in season one (For Harry with Love and Squalor) where Garret totally bluffed his way thru a situation the exact same way.

All ends well. They did a good job of keeping the villain from us. I figured there were three, just from the beginning scenes, but I didn’t think there was a fourth till the plane ticket and by then the episode was almost over. I always like it when I’m surprised.

A side note, when Jordan learns that Woody’s left with Devan, she’s definitely surprised. I think it’s a good kick in the butt for her. She briefly starts to tell Bug how she and Woody have been playing a bazaar mating dance for the past three years, but he doesn’t want to hear. Maybe seeing Woody and Devan together will make her a little more possessive and actually go after Woody. My bet is she’ll sit back and little Devan move in. Maybe she’ll get jealous enough to stand up and claim what she wants—Woody.

Missing from the scene of action was Peter. He’s upped and disappeared. Sydney I suppose is in to replace him. He’s quite a different character (first impressions) than Peter. Liked him though. I didn’t like Peter when we first met him, but he grew on me, I didn't missed him though. My hearts not broken that he’s gone for good.

I loved the last few minutes with the song Hero playing. I just thought the whole sequence of events in the last five minutes was a great ending for the season opener.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • It's visible that all four sides of the elevator press flat against all four walls of shaft. Yet Devan uses protruding metal beams in the shaft walls to climb out. Those metal beams should make it impossible for the elevator to move through the shaft.

    • Goof: After the blackout, Woody and Devan get stuck in a freight elevator. Woody climbs out the top of the freight elevator, and goes to the far right corner of the lift and attempts to climb out. Devan starts to climb out of the elevator and throws Woody's Tux jacket and shirt at him, and the clothes land just at Woody's feet. Cut to an aerial view and the clothes are now in the far right corner of the lift as Devan climbs out. Cut back to regular view, and the clothes are back at Woody's feet.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Devan: (looks at Governor's Ball invitation) Uh, Woody? This Governor's Ball?
Woody: It's done, I'm over it, it's finished.
Devan: It's next week. (Woody grabs the invitation and looks at it) Biggest night of your life....
      Woody: Unbelievable.

    • (Woody hands Devan his tux jacket and starts loosening his tie)
      Devan: What are you doing?
Woody: What does it look like?
      Devan: Chippendale's.
Woody: (Sarcastic laughter) Hahahahaha. (takes off dress shirt revealing wife beater) In your dreams.
      Devan: Hahahahaha. (sarcastic laughter) Nightmares.

    • Jordan: If you must know Woody and I have been doing this bizarre mating dance the past three years.
Bug: I'm sorry, did I say I must know?
