Not anytime soon. Apparently there's issues with music on the show which is delaying the release.

I don't see why there has to be a problem with music. They play the music on the show so what is the big deal about putting the music on a dvd.

It's a complex issue, but apparently shows are allowed to use the music when the show is broadcasted on TV, but there are separate fees that have to be paid for shows to use the same music for the DVD market. That's why alot of shows that use pop music/current hit songs in their shows have to replace the music when it hits DVD (ex. 90210 and Melrose Place)

As for CJ, I find it strange that music is an issue because most of the songs are composed by Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman who are already hired to do music for the show.

I'm sure this is very simplistic of me, and trust me I am not very business minded (is that a word?), but surely they would make enough from the sales of CJ dvds to cover the cost of the music fees?

We know that they would sell but as usual, it seems NBC doesn't put much stock in the show or their selling power. It seems as though the current executives at NBC wouldn't know a good show if it jumped up and bit them on the ....

All they are interested in is game shows.

Does anyone know if there is "actual talk" about cj being realised on dvd... i dont want to sound disheartened because it would be the best day of my life when they release cj on dvd, but why now??? i mean why wait till after the 5th season to do it & if they do they better release all 5 season!!!!

If NBC and Universal can work out the problems with the music clearance costs, the we'll see it on DVD. Plus Tim Kring needs to make some time to be involved with it...I mean he's the CJ creator and he's busy working on Heroes.  I mean they need him for any behind the scenes interviews and commentaries.

Most likely we'll see Heroes on DVD, since it's so popular, before we'll see CJ.

IF heroes comes out before CJ i'l denounce that show for ever. Tim has no right to this to a show that has been out longer than heroes. And if he dose at least combine both seasons together.

I know, but thinking from a business perspective NBC knows they will make lots of $$$$$ off Heroes right away as opposed to CJ. The DVD market is all about what's popular and hot right now.

On NBC.com's CJ blog the producers announced that they are almost done sorting out the music rights and hopefully season 1 will be released sometime this year! I can't wait since I've only seen 10 episodes.

So, if we are to see the DVD's sometime this year, what do you think - December???!!!!

Sorry to be so pessimistic (is that spelled correctly) but i also think that they are more likely to bring Heroes out on DVD first.

I agree, I think Tim Kring will be much more inclined to work on the Heroes DVD 1st over CJ. Plus, NBC/Universal knows they can make money right away on Heroes.

It can't be too hard to work on 2 DVDs at the same time. Joss Whedon would work on Buffy and Angel DVDs at the same time and NBC can easily make both DVDs at the same time. I'm hoping for a July/August release... I hope...

I believe Tim Kring doesn't even work on CJ anymore. He's the full-time show runner for Heroes now.
