This is the true story of the first Christmas tree in an American church. Rev. Henry Schwan, just arrived from Europe, was the pastor at Cleveland's Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He overcame the objections of parents who considered a tree a pagan worship symbol by telling them the evergreen was a sign of God's eternal love.
