This heavyset women passes out on top of this skinny guy and kills him. There is some convention thing in town where a bunch of heavyset people go and have fun.
Ok so this episode made me laugh at parts but it was a serious episode too. It made me laugh when that girl slapped grissoms butt i was like oh no she didnt. Sara did a good job in this episode. When that cop made a rude remark she put him in his place telling im to watch it. I really liked the story line of it too. Like there are these message boards that they can go and post on eacj others wall.I loved the part where they put greg under that girl weight and he was talkig about his dream. It was all around a great episode.
This episode is written by Naren Shankar and Judith McCreary. Story by Dustin Lee Abraham and directed by Bill Eagles. Catherine, Brown and Nick Stokes investigate a shotgun killing in the desert. What they come across however is a beaver dam full of money. When they subsequently learn that the victim worked at setting the spread for sports betting, they think he may have a betting scam of some sort. Grissom, Sara and Greg investigate a death in a hotel where someone is found suffocated in his bed. He was staying in a hotel hosting a convention for overweight people and was quite popular with the ladies.
I hope the fat ladies won't be upset. Personally I love this episode. Hopefully the writers write the episodes more interesting.
The writers did it again. I thought that this episode was a really good one.
Catherine & her team investigate a badly mutilated body in the woods, the evidence eventually leads them to the world of gambling, something Warrick is familliar with.
Grissom, Sara & Greg investigate the death of a man found in his hotel room. The investigation leads them to a convention for big womwn, who (no surprises here) are attracted to Grissom.
The sad thing in the end was that the suspect would rather go to jail for murder that admit that it was an accident, just so she wouldn't be someone's punchline.
Like Danasdude said in his review, I wasn't offended. I just felt the episode was, well, stupid.
I'm a BBW, and while I know some pretty desperate women (skinny & fluffy) out there - I don't see this ever happening. I think there's more of a chance finding a dead guy in a raccoon suit on the side of the road than someone being so desperately devoid of self esteem that they would rather go to prison than admit they smothered a guy to death. Jeez. Get real. CSI was really reaching for a story here.
Did they do it so they could say that they didn't leave fat people out of the show? Felt like it, and that's what I've heard from some other folks about this episode as well.
Prejudice occurs much more frequently than one might think, and CSI seems to spotlight it frequently. Whether it's ageism, sexism, or weightism (?) CSI seems to show sensitivity to all groups. This episode didn't seem to handle it as adroitly as other discrimination types, but they did try.
This episode was up to usual CSI standards with regards to pacing, revelation of the mystery, and subject matter. I felt they could have gone more in-depth on the Overweight convention characters (and why every "deviant" group seems to be attracted to Grissom) but otherwise it was an excellent episode.
I sometimes feel that Warrick's gambling addiction only came about so that they'd have a "gambling expert" on the team... they need to develop that more. And I love Sarah's sensitivity at the DNA sampling.
Great episode; could have been better, but I've seen far worse.
Are heavyset people really so desperate that they would fall for the loser in this episode? Maybe one in a thousand. But would a show about the other 999 be any good?
Alright, there are all kinds of people in the world. There are big ones, little ones, pretty ones, and not so pretty ones. CSI is not a show about cultural sensitivity. It is a show that demonstrates a million ways to commit murder. The show is not above using body type to further its storylines. Thus far we have seen midget murder, raccoon suit murder, Sherlock Holmes murder, and several others. Chances are if you have a distinguising characteristic sooner or later someone like you is gonna show up dead on CSI. Don't think this show got to be number one by accident. It continues to innovate and tries to appeal to the broadest possible audience. In this episode, the broadest possible audience happens to be the pool of suspects. As a big old boy myself, am I offended? Heck, no. We had to get representation in a show about murder. Fat people are too hard to kidnap.
