    • Goof: When Grissom enters the cage in which the woman is found, he goes to the wastebasket to examine the pen that rolled on the floor. As he first picks it up, he grasps it right at the point where the black grip section meets the gray barrel section. But as the shot changes and he continues bringing it up to examine it, he is now grasping it near the end of the gray barrel.
    • Goof: In the final reconstruction of the train victim's last moments, there is a shot of her left profile in her car. A California lottery sign is visible in the window of a store behind her.
    • Goof: The size and shape of the brushguard on the Ford Excursion they are investigating changes many times throughout the scene
    • Goof: The Ford Excursion, the car that pushed the Jeep Cherokee onto the railroad tracks, blew a headlight out during the impact. However, when the CSIs were examining the Excursion, it had a full frontal brushguard.

    • Nick: Autistic? What, you mean like Rain Man? The 1988 film Rain Man was a movie about an incredibly gifted man with autism, much like the subject in the case that Grissom was investigating.
