  • Warrick, having troubles in his personal life, turns to pills to keep up the pace with his job. The pills have, as one would expect, a negative effect on Warrick's job perfomance. Matters are made worse when he is a suspect in the murder of a stripper.

There were some positive points in this episode of CSI. One of them being the strip club owner who seems to represent the last bit of organized crime left in Las Vegas. The scene of the man who refused to pay his bill in the barber chair is well done. However, I was not impressed with the story centering around Warrick. This was done before in the earlier season of CSI when it was revealed he had a gambling problem. It was uninteresting then and it's unineresting now. Hopefully this story won't be streched out and will be resolved soon.

  • Glad to see more Warrick but ...

Glad to see more Warrick but I thought the episode was weak for CSI. There wasn't enough CSI stuff for me. I know they had a guest director but they had their normal writers but they seemed to have strayed from the formula that makes CSI great. That is an interesting case with lots of evidence that leads to a killer. That was missing from this episode.

I did enjoy the confrontation between Nick and Warrick but instead of Warrick going off the deep end I would have preferred them two working more closely together to solve the crime and then end the episode talking about Warricks problems versus this whole new mystery that needs to be solved.

Waiting to see how next week closes this case off.
  • Warrick ... sppilers

I am a huge Nick and Greg fan but I like that this episode was all about Warrick. I think it's a shame the type of lifestyle he's leading and I think it's also great that he has friends that are there for him and that care for him. I know Warrick is innocent and all and I read next weeks so I know that he is the prime suspect but wow the tension was great and his dizzy spells can only lead to one thing ... well lets just say that after this episode I can't wait unitl next weeks.

A guy is found dead in a garbage truck, and Warrick arrives late at the scene, while arguing with his ex-wife Tina on the phone. We meet Lou Gedda, Warrick's fat gangster nemesis, who he's framed for killing in "For Gedda" later in the season.

The episode starts with a police/garbage truck car chase, with little squares of colored paper flying out of the truck. This is supposed to be garbage. Seriously. The driver of the truck throws a gun out of the window, then crashes his truck into a wall as a dead body flies out of the back. The dumbass man who's high decides to try and get away on foot, but gets hit by a car. Catherine, Grissom, Greg, SuperDave and Brass investigate the body. Warrick is in his car, and in the middle of a heated argument with Tina. When he hangs up, he pops a pill from a pill bottle. He arrives at the scene and tells Grissom he's sorry he's late, who says Warrick now has to process the garbage truck.

Back at the lab, the two dead guys get ID'd as Brody Briggs (driver) and Jason Crewes (first vic). Catherine talks to Jason's mother, who says she doesn't know Brody Briggs. At the crime scene, Warrick tells Grissom that the whole divorce thing's "taken the wind out of my sails."

The team finds out that the truck was owned by a company called Regal Sanitation, which was operated by a mob boss, Anthony Pezzulo, until it closed down years ago. It's discovered that Belinda, Jason Crewes' mother, is actually Pezzulo's wife. She went into witness protection and changed her name after he got killed. Brass shows her a photo of a younger Brody Briggs, and she says it's "BB". Apparently, BB was a friend and wouldn't have killed Jason. So Brass asks about the garbage trucks, and who she gave them to after the business shut down. She tells him they now belong to Lou Gedda, the owner of Pigalle Boulevard Strip Club.

Warrick and Brass. Strip club. Big fat spoilt gangster.

Okay, I will skip a part to save you, and me, from falling asleep. So, the team finally deduce that Lou Gedda was running an extortion business, because no one ever reported anything in his club and the cops lost interest. Warrick and Nick have an argument about the drugs Warrick's been taking.

Warrick goes to the strip club to "continue his investigation", where he meets a stripper, Joanna. They go to a motel and do it. Joanna is later found dead, and Warrick is the prime suspect.

I think this episode was one of the worst ever. Totally fake garbage, confusing case, and a fat gangster? Please. And that last scene with Warrick and Joanna? It was so cringe-inducing I had to take my eyes from the screen and go play the piano. Seriously. I really do not recommend watching this episode, because, quite honestly, it alternately made me want to fall asleep and punch the screen.
  • Marks the beginning of Season 8's big storyline

    5.4
    "Mediocre"
I'm not a huge fan of Warrick so any episode which focuses on him is never going to be one of my favourites. However this episode is important as it marks the beginning of Season 8's big storyline.

The main storyline focuses on Warrick's personal struggles as he goes through his divorce and subsequent emotional issues. As Warrick's private life is falling apart he becomes overly focused on the murder case at hand; leading to dire consequences for the character.

I wasn't hugely impressed with the episode, could be due to my anti-Warrick feelings. However I also wasn't a fan of the way the episode was shot; the short, sharp flashbacks which signify Warrick's deteriating mental state I found grating and unnecessary. I felt there were more subtle ways to portray this, that being said, CSI is not known for its subtlety. Despite that, it is a well acted episode by Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown) who conveys the character's tiredness and obsession with the case very well. The storyline, yet again, focuses on the CSI team's frustrations with the mob bosses and their 'control' of Las Vegas – a theme I always find very gritty and interesting in CSI. On the otherhand, I enjoy more the 'singular' CSI episodes rather than ones that feature a running story arch. "Cockroaches" wasn't the best episode of CSI you will find but it is important to season 8 as a whole. Overall, it's an average episode which would be forgettable if it weren't for its importance on the rest of the season.

It's amazing to me that they show that Sara's departure is affecting everyone and not just Grissom. It shows how much of a family they really were. And I love how much Nick shows he cares about Warrick. Warrick's life is falling apart, his wife has left him, Sara's left the team, and now he's taking drugs to sleep and be able to stay awake. What more are they going to do to this poor guy. Just shows how much family is needed, but when Grissom was talking to Warrick when he was talking about how he's been feeling since Sara left, Grissom kind of seemed a bit cold. Yeah he's going through a hard time but come on Sara leaving doesn't just affect you buddy. The whole team loves Sara.

  • Warrick definitely deserves an episode of himself after 8 years in the show. But why making him a total loser in dealing with his personal problems?

    8.0
    "Great"
Starting from Season 1, Warrick has been known to have gambling problems; but with the help of Grissom, he has managed to get back to the right track and so far did pretty good in his career. Then in Season 6 comes the marriage with Tina, which as said was quite impulsive. Early in this season, he disclosed his divorce news to Cath which it seemed to be a relief for him. So considering a tough guy like Warrick, it is not convincing he will just go down and do all kind of stupid things just because of this recent divorce. It is also odd that he does not seek support from Cath or Nick which he used to do so in the past.

The way he dealt with the mop is so naive showing purely anger without using his brain. Where is the science and lab work?

I am so disappointed to see Warrick like this in the show.
  • The worst episode in Season 8 yet.

    4.3
    "Poor"
This episode was done horribly! Honestly I thought there was no point in this episode. The other case, the one of the garbage truck was good. However, the Pigalle case was more like "WTF?!" The whole time I was thinking about what did the writers want to prove or what message did the writers want to say with Warrick having trouble with his wife, Tina, taking the drugs, going to the strip joint...what was with that? It was like an episode with no reason to be aired. I felt like the episode was just aired for the sake of being aired. Also, I thought that the episode was more focused on Warrick and his issues than the actual case.
  • Warrick is scaring everybody!

    "Great"
Warrick has become a very different person. Usually, I like Warrick a lot. But he is really giving me the creeps in this episode. First of all, he is getting a divorce as we know that it wouldn't last that long. Second, usually he shows up on time for work but this time, he doesn't as he is late. Third, Nick is seeing his best friend popping pills in his mouth. Now he goes and drinks and does all of this to get over his divorce. As he goes overboard and goes back to his gambling ways. Now he becomes a prime suspect in a murder case in which a dead woman is in his car. Grissom must reluctantly take him off the case.
  • Warrick has become a different kind of character.

    "Superb"
I was shocked to see how Warrick was written in this episode. He was shown as a drug addict and I seriously thought that he was going to get into a brawl with Nick. Gil and Warrick have been given great character development in the past few episode. I've seen the charcters of CSI be put in some crazy situations, like Nick sleeping with the hooker in like the first or second season and was accused of killing her too. But this ep was very explicit when it show Warrick sleeping with the girl who ends up dead in his car. It was very obvious that he was drugged up and had been drinking. This was a crazy ep and kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what happens on this week's ep. With all this stuff happening to the characters, it makes me wonder if this may be the final season for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. I mean Gil and Sara get together, then she gets kidnapped and then leaves completely, Nick has almost died, Warrick is now a drug addict and accused of murder. Who knows what else will happen. Gil works all the time. Crazy times.
  • It was ok but what happened to CSI? where did the crime go? less with the characters and lets get back to business!

    "Good"
although i liked the episode i must say that the character stories are getting boring. i like episodes sprinkled with character stories but now they are making the whole episode about it!

since the beginning of the season they have been doing this starting with Sara. now Warrick, who's next? Greg? he is writing that book about old Vegas.

i miss the crime solving! the real CSI!i hope that after 'lying with the dogs' they get back to what CSI is supposed to be.

Not to put a down any Gary Dourdan lovers but he didnt do a very good job in this episode. at the end of the episode when he was screaming, i was laughing it was so bad. he had some good emotions in the episode but i felt he could have done better. that is my opinion.

other than that it was an ok episode. i liiked the whole story of the mob. wonder what Greg will get out of this for his book.
  • Edge of your seat type of episode. Spoilers inside!!!

    "Superb"
This episode was very intense, it kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time!! It was nice to see Warrick back in the spotlight, he seemed to be taking a back seat for a while. I hope that he gets his life straigtened out, and I hope that he is cleared of the murder. I honestly thought that he was going to slap Nick right in the face when Nick threw his pills away. It was kind of different to see Grissom acting all tough towards Warrick, because Grissom is usually so laid back. The previews for next week's episode look really good, I can't wait!!
  • At the beginning Warrick is late to the crime scene. He is dealing with a divorce. Soon later, Nick sees him taking another kind of medicine besides sleeping pills. Warrick starts drinking and at the end a dead body is found in his car.

I liked this episode. Basically, I like the episodes when something bad happens to one of the CSI members. Anyways. At the beginning Warrick is late to the crime scene. He is dealing with a divorce. Soon later, Nick sees him taking another kind of medicine besides sleeping pills. Nick throughs the pills in trash. Right then and there it looked like Warrick was about to hit Nick, but he doesn't. Later, Warrick goes to a bar, gets drunk, and is into this one girl. Grissom finds him, sends him home. He doesn't go home, then bam a girl dead in his car. This episode is great because its about one of the CSI people. and there is a second part to it. Oh, yeah!!! I'm out.
  • My least favourite episode so far.

    "Mediocre"
I can't put my finger on it, but this episode lacks something. I felt bored throughout the whole thing, like nothing even happened. It felt dull, and poorly done. The only interesting part of the whole episode was the chase at the beginning, which is not surprisingly my favourite part of the thing. It went downhill after that, I can't seem to figure out why. I could say it was the lack of Jorja, but honestly I've never been much of a fan of hers. To me, CSI is kinda losing its lustre. They have to do something about it, and fast.
  • All about Warrick's personal life messing up his job.

    "Great"
I enjoyed seeing Grissom put on his bosses hat and get after Warrick. I didn't care too much for the Nick and Warrick scene about the pill popping. It would have played out better if Warrick took them out of his pocket pop a pill and tried hiding them back into his pocket-- instead of leaving them out on the table. And when Nick gets into Warricks face about the pills and tells him to stop-- the only reaction you get from Warrick is OK you're right I need to stop doing that. And then they go back to work like nothing happened. Hello!! It was like a scene from The Brady Bunch. The rest was okay. Probably because I'm a CSI fan. Good to see Greg doing longer scenes.
  • Well we get to see Warrick and his life in full free fall. An interesting take since he was always the cool secure one. Now his ex is running him through the ringer and he's now addicted

Well we get to see Warrick and his life in full free fall. An interesting take since he was always the cool secure one. Now his ex is running him through the ringer and he's now addicted to pills of all kinds. The drugs took a huge toll on Warrick evidenced by his idiotic chase of evidence against a mobster. He made rookie assumptions and mistakes about what would close the case and he is failing at his job and snapping at his coworkers. The ending was great Warrick has a fantasy and a girl is found dead in his car. Great intro into his decent into depravity and the fun ride of proving his innocence.
  • good episode...

    8.4
    "Great"
I liked the story in this episode, just not how they executed it. The team was investigating the deaths of two men and the investigation led them to the mob. Warrick was taking pills and Nick had a "touching" talk with him. Honestly, I was laughing during that whole scene. It was so fake. Warrick was mad for a second and then was like, it's ok. The acting was poor also. Anyways, to continue on, Warrick takes the case personally and tries to get information from a girl. The girl ends up dead and Warrick is the prime suspect. Interesting. I really just wanted Warrick to end up dead, I know that sounds bad, but...when Grissom sent Warrick away I was actually hoping the mobster would capture him. That would be intersting. As long as he didn't die and they didn't make it cheesy, it would have been interesting. Anyways, I really don't like the analysing evidence part of the episode. It takes too long and it gets boring. I liked the character development and the story. Hopefully, they will follow this episode well. I think this is the first episode this year that I actually mildly liked.
  • Eh, you know the routine. This episode was based on Warrick and Grissom, but mainly centered around Warrick and his "issues". *SPOILERS INSIDE FOR THIS EPISODE*

Not going to write much here because I didn't really like the episode. Then ending was the best part (and no, not because it was over). I loved the way it ended, the way the writers did that was pretty awesome, I must say! =)

I'm just very curious as to what happens in the next episode with Warrick. I mean serious, what is his problem?!? In my opinion Grissom can only give him so many chances to screw up...I wouldn't blame Grissom if he fired him. He IS a liability!

In all, it was boring. I was reading and doing homework a lot of the time during the episode which says something about it. If I like it...LOVE the episode, then my computer is pushed aside along with everything else, but this wasn't one of those cases. Maybe it will do better in the next episode. It sure gave us some more insight into Warrick. Addicted to pain meds? Ok, well not really pain meds, but narcotics are VERY addicting! But seriously, You've got to be kidding me! He needs help...or something! I was surprised when Nick went in to talk to him and threw his pills. I thought for sure that Warrick was going to punch him right in the face, but no dice. *Shrugs shoulders*

I don't know if its just me or not, but I find it quite odd the way Sara left...I mean in the episodes since then, they briefly mention it but to me, it seems like it would affect Grissom more than they (the writers, producers, etc) are showing. Maybe more to come later on?!?

A guy driving a garbage trunk is trying to run from the police and leaving a tray of colorfull papers and a dead body :) and he is running all he can !!!

So Warrick is taking pills for what ? stress ? is his ex-wife pregnant with someone else's baby and trying to get money from him ? is that the deal?

We learn that Grissom is no the most compreehsive boss, or is he just hurting over Sara???

Since Sara's CSI is kinda boring, and there is one thing that all we CSI fans know is, Warrick-centric episodes always suck, BIG time, am i right ? here is always drugs and gambling involved.

I dont know why they keep doing it !!!

But a Nick-centric is always a good thing to watch :) Gotta love him :)
  • Exciting Opening ends with a cliff hanger ending leaving Warricks job on the line!

    "Superb"
Well written, Back to how they used to be, and very at the edge of your seat! CSI needs more like this! From the very start to the very end the episode was exciting and very involved. Season 8 started good but went downhill from there. This episodes in my opinion was one of if not the best. Which is odd, because it revolves around Warrick and I was never a fan of his. This make me think it must have been for me to like an episode about a character I don't exactly care for too much. CSI Good Job!
  • CSI seems to be back on the right track after all the the GSR stuff.

    9.6
    "Superb"
I really, really liked it. I don't think it was perfect because it was a bit predictable. To me, though, it was the best episode since they buried Nick. THAT one STILL scares the bejabbers out me no matter how many times I've watched it, and I don't expect this to be as good. Since then, I think its been ho-hum and I've often thought of not watching anymore. However, this storyline with Warrick is great and I can't wait to see how it goes-please don't stretch it out for the rest of the season! I'd been hoping they'd do more with him and the others once they got the Grissom/Sara mess out of their systems. A side note: one of the ickiest things I've seen on this show is the fat mobster guy in the towel. I kept waiting for the towel to drop so I could throw up.
  • A story centered on Warwick.

    9.0
    "Superb"
It wasn't as good as I thought it would be based on the advertising, but it was good to see a story about Warwick. He seems to be in the background too much lately. It will be interesting to see how it develops and if the writers keep the story going and progressing. We never got to see his wife, or how they got married, or anything of his personal life. I am anxious to see how this plays out and how Warwick, and the team for that matter, handles this life crisis. More personal character development and continuing storyline.

    I can't wait!!!
  • I think for long time we had not seen so complicated episode with so much attention and story around one char.

    9.1
    "Superb"
I do not start about saying if the Warrick problems made sense or they just fell from clear sky as many have thought but if not thinking on it - I loved the way the story was built and this episode really was catching, had something dynamic and it felt like there was some development. I cannot say there has been not at all character development lately as Sara and Grissom defenetly had some but it was never so whole and never took so much of one episode but this episode - I have never liked Warrick character as he has always been left on the back, they have tried to built some storylines with him and it has never worked. This time it looks they have succeeded - those little hints given before has lead now to the moment when he is taking bills, missing his job and being just out of himself. And to make it worse, he finds a case what affects him (usually it was Sara's part - getting too into cases. She is gone sadly :'(. Now they just found another one.. another complex person). Even if he is warned many times turning his way down, he seems not to care and goes his own way until it gets confusing (ok.. the part when he was too drunk(?) and then blackout before getting back to the parking lot - it was weird and to be honest little ruined it as mostly the directing was good but that... it just confused too much).

After the last episode what was really - out of character and having no point, this one was much stronger and had storyline that really makes me wish to see next episode.
  • Warrick in trouble.

    8.0
    "Great"
I have to admit this is not one of their best efforts, but certainly not their worst. (Of course I measure it against the mianture replica killer storyline). Warrick is having trouble in his marriage and his work is suffering. We know he's had problems in the past so this is not a stretch. But the downward spiral including popping prescribed medication but that doesn't seem like him. Then of course he's convinced of who a certain killer is at a certain nudie bar and he is on the case, perhaps a little too much as we're shown the cliff hanger at the end. I'm just afraid that they'll get into some action themed mindset (like the garbage truck chase) which i'm not a big fan of. I prefer the plodding investigation aspect of CSI.

Maybe this is transitional to get some sort of conflict going now that Sara is gone. I will admit it is nice to see Grissom (though he is low-key stern generally) get a little bent-out-of-shape over Warrick's erratic behavior. I like it when he gets in his i'm the boss attitude.

Perhaps the next episode will be better.
  • Warrick Brown finds himself caught in the web of organized crime. The harder he tries to fight against it, the deeper in trouble he becomes.

    4.0
    "Poor"
I must admit, for a show that has at worst given me shows that were so-so, and often gave me shows that were enjoyable, this show was the worst one I have seen. Don't get me wrong, the story was promising, the acting was OK, it was just the general direction of the whole show. I may need to rewatch episodes from earlier this season, but Warrick's pill troubles just seemed to jump ahead like nothing. I found this latest development of Brown's character to be absurd. It may have been all of the hype over the guest director, but how Warrick could get this way made absolutely no sense! It was as if the Powers That Be decided "Let's jack up Warrick's life. With the writer's strike going on, we won't worry about leading the audience to a point where it will make sense." Ultimately, this was the most disappointing piece of television I had seen in a while, and to make it worse, they conclude it next week. I am only planning on watching it to see if this is a blip on CSI's otherwise excellent record, or if it is a sign a worse to come.
