Coming of Rage

Aired Sunday 10:00 PM Dec 18, 2003 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • Goof: While analyzing blood spatter, Warrick and Sara have an electronic device that calculates where the blood came from for them. However, the device they are using says, "Blood Splatter" on it rather than "Blood Spatter".

  • Quotes

    • Benny: Since when is whacking fruit a crime?
Brass: When it's practice for whacking people.

    • Archie: They say in America, you're on camera an average of seven times a day. Go to a mall, and you can at least triple that.
Sara: I guess that's good for us. I'm going to think twice the next time I try on a shirt.
Archie: Well, legally, they can't put cameras in dressing rooms, but there's legal, and then there's what people do.

    • Warrick: The shoe tread I found at the scene-- it's a World Industries Diablo. It's a skate shoe. Size 11.
      Brass: On a construction worker?
      Warrick: Screams teenager, I know.

    • Nick: Don't you hate it when hello turns to gunfire?

    • Grissom: Well, clean surfaces make for good analysis.
Brass: Yeah, well that may be the only good thing.

    • (As Sara's collecting the hammers)
Guy: I'll trade you my hammer for a screw. (All the construction workers laugh)
      Sara: Name, please.
Guy: I'll tell you mine, you tell me yours. (Sara stares at him) Oh, come on, baby. I'm stuck with these ugly fools all day. A pretty girl comes by, just having a little fun.
Sara: Yeah, murder always makes me feel a little randy, too.
Guy: Ooh. (Guy puts his hammer into Sara's bag)

    • Grissom: Are these... Spaghetti-oh's?
      Sara: I don't think so.
Greg: Nah, no. Those are orthodontic rubber bands. Hook 'em up to your braces uh... upper to lower, helps pull the jaw in the right direction. Also great for flinging. (everyone looks at him) I had it all - palate expander, braces, retainer, headgear. Five years of torture, but worth every penny, don't you think? (smiles broadly)

    • Sara: You're not a victim, you were a lure. Do you know how many people don't report a rape because they're afraid that no one will believe them?
Ashley: Of course. That's what I was counting on.
Sara: I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure you're tried as an adult.
Ashley: Good luck. I dress up real nice. Couple barrettes, little lace collar, two dead parents. I'll be the saddest little girl in the world.

    • (Grissom has just given scent dogs a scent)
      Officer: Ready to run?
Grissom (after pointing to Sara): She does all my running.
      Sara: Thanks.

    • (Warrick just found a shoeprint)
      Grissom: Well, that should help.

    • Grissom: Take a look at his head, tell me what you see.
      Warrick: Definitely blunt force.
      Sara: That's a hammer head.
Grissom: I thought you might say that. Well, we know that people often commit crimes in places that they're familiar with. (Sara walks out of the room and sees that all the construction workers have hammers and walks back to the room)
Sara: You've gotta be kidding me.

    • Brass: You're looking for three guys but you only found one hammer with blood on it. Who do you want me to follow?
      Grissom: Me.

    • (After Bobby fired a bullet into ballistics gel)
Catherine: That is a 12 inch penetration. (Bobby and Nick smirk)

    • Nick: I, uh, only count nine holes in your target.
      Johnnie: I must've missed one.
      Nick: Oh, you didn't miss.

    • Sara: You know what? I am done with the Ashley pity-party.

    • Johnnie: It was just a little target practice.
Nick: And that's why it's illegal to discharge firearms within the city limits, genius.

    • Sara: Clothing, $85. Earrings, $30. Latte, $4. Getting away with murder...
      Grissom: Priceless.

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • This episode is ripped from the headlines of the Jason Sweeney murder in Philadelphia. Jason (16) was lured by his girlfriend, Justina Morley (15), with the promise of sex. He was ambushed and beaten to death with a hatchet, a hammer, and a large rock by Domenic Coia, Nicholas Coia, and Edward Batzig Jr. Justina Morley plead guilty and testified against the other three. In addition, the four people involved in his murder also took his money.

    • Gallagher is a comedian who smashes watermelons and lots of other foods using a trademark tool called the "sledge-o-matic" Brass mentions him.....

    • Sara: Clothing: $85, Earrings: $30, Latte: $4, Getting away with murder...
      Grissom: Priceless.
