  • Sara and Grissom...

    10
    "Perfect"
I love that this episode is just Sara and Grissom. When Sara was trapped in that room with Adam, Grissom looked so scared for her, I wanted him to hug her when she run out, but he didn't :(. However without this, it would still have been a fantastic episode as I really enjoyed the case and explores a theme that not many shows decide to do; the Mentally Ill. I feel so sorry for Adam, being messed up by his mum. She is so selfish. Why couldn't she just take care of her son and find a new husband instead of turning her son into her husband. Its Sick!

Although a brilliant episode, I wonder where the writers got this idea from? Anyway I loved that it was just Sara and Grissom, and the case was fantastically written and kept me on the edge of my seat. I would never have guessed that the Nurse was Adam's mother. Fantastic Twist!
  • Another Sara Sidle Pitty Party

Except for the 5 minutes in which we were graced with the presence of Sofia Curtis, this episode was again another Sara Sidle Pity Party. Didn't she have Nesting Doll's to drown us in her childhood trauma? " Crazy People Do Make Me Feel Crazy ".. Well, self centered, spoiled, I want Gil Grissom's attention so I will steal all the important screen time from the lead female star, makes me feel like changing the channel. No offense, I like the character of Sara Sidle, but enough with her " Feel Bad " for me stories. Stop playing the victim to the hilt, it's really annoying.

Oh how I miss the Sara Sidle of season 1.
  • Lack of scientific investigation.

This episode reveals that Sara's mother used to stay in mental hospital after she killed her husband (Sara's father). A patient was found dead, lying in his room. The CSIs-Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle (by the way, where is Greg and Sofia?) to the mental hospital for investigation. Sara found semen on the bed, which turns up to be Adam Trent's semen.

The first time I look at Adam Trent, he looks so familiar to me. Oh right, he is the one who play the role of Henry Darius in the crossover episode of CSI: Miami and CSI: NY (Felony Flight and Manhattan Manhunt) and Chase Edmunds in the third season of 24. Wow!! A agent turns into a rapist.

The episode is all about Sara, she said: "Crazy people makes me crazy". Which crazy people don't make people crazy? Sarah Goldfinger is a great writer, but this is not the best episode in this season. It's one of the worse episode in Season 5.
  • This episode mainly involves Sara and Grisom.

The episode I felt wasn't too bad… and I can't believe it took me the second time to watch this episode to understand what happen!!!

Poor Sara… lol, Grisom expression shock horror to find Sara lock up in a room with another psychiatric patient… I didn't realise that the patient actually when and slits his throat… that was gross!!! i could tell that there is more GSR scene now, which are great!!!!

We also found out that after Sara's mother killed her father, she went into a psychiatric unit like the one Sara is at, and it's still smell the same too.

I can't believe a mother would do that too!!! I'm so shocked!!
  • This is a great episode, probably my second favorite (after Butterflied).

I thoroughly enjoyed that this episode had a lot of Grissom and Sara. I thought it was very nice of him to offer to have someone else take over for Sara after she got attacked by Adam. Speaking of that scene when Grissom left, the first time I saw this episode, I was sitting there going don't leave Grissom don't leave. When Adam came in I was all come back right now Gil. I think the flashbacks and special effects were very nicely done for this episode (not that they are ever really bad or anything). Of course Adam's mom needs help and is plain sick. But then Adam definitely needs help too. Thanks to his mom. The drawings that he did though extremely disturbing were nicely done. He's clearly good with his hands. I thought when Greg put the pillow up to Sara's face that it looked like for a second that Grissom might have said something. But of course he wouldn't or didn't, he just gave a look. I like I said before I really liked the fact that this episode's is just Grissom and Sara working a case together. I mean I know Brass is there and Greg, Sofia, and Hodges help out but it's not a whole lot. Alright that's it.
  • Interesting setting, good twist in the plot, awesome character interactions!!

I love the fact that this show dares to deal with subject matters in a gritty way that most others would shy away from. This episode not only deals with the issue of mental patients but also with issues of incest. "Crazy people do make me feel crazy" But still I love watching them. I also enjoyed the character development in this episode when we find out more about Sara's past, a continuation from what we learnt in "Nesting Dolls" Plus an episode with Sara Sidle and Gil Grissom as the lead (basically only) CSI's on a case! What's not to love! =]
  • My all-time favorite episode from seasons 1-6.

This episode is awesome!!! The whole case is kind of odd, but no murder investigations are "normal". One thing I liked about the case was getting the audio off of the clay pot. Although it wasn't very realistic, it was creative.

The part where Sara got attacked was so scary. It freaked me out the first time I saw it. It's one of those thigs that you are watching it and know what's going to happen, so you yell at the tv to try to make it turn out well. I felt so bad for her, but Grissom came in and saved her then afterwards helped her calm down.
  • I love, love, loved it!!!!

This is one of my all time favourite episodes.

It's got excellent writing, excellent acting and most of all it's got lots of Sara Sidle.

Some fans don't like all the character development stuff on the show but I must admit that I love it. It's excellent how they focus on the crimes but in the middle of it all they manage to give us a glimpse of who these people are.

I did think it was strange there was no B story but in the end it didn't need one.
  • I love this ep!!!! (warning spoilers)

    I really love this ep.

Esp when Sara is cornered by the inmate, you knew something like this was going to happen, but this was better than i expected it to be. When Grissom comes back and looks in helplessly at Sara, you know that he has feelings for her (not sure if he\'s in love w/ her tho. When they\'re just staring at one another, both not being able to do anything i was just wondering why on earth they aren\'t together yet! was no1 else wondering that as well?

You got a bit more insight into Sara, as she explains to Grissom that her mum went to a place like that.

I love wen she says \"crazy people do make me feel crazy\" I watch that bit repeatedly its great!!
  • An interesting case.

I enjoyed this episode. The fact that Grissom and Sara are the only CSI's in the episode doesn't really draw away from the episode. I thought the entire case was very intriguing. The writers did an awesome job for setting the mood of the episode. I liked how it was raining the entire show. It certainly set the dark and dreary tone. When poor Sara got attacked by the inmate Adam, I felt very bad for her. Although, it did help to liven up the episode. That would really shake me up if it would have been me in that position. I thought the whole idea with getting sound from the clay pot was really cool even it wasn't 100% credible. Great episode, defintely goes towards my top.
  • Love it, love it, love it!!! couldn't have been much better!!!

CSIs Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle investigate the murder of a mental patient found dead in his room laying in a pool of blood. When they arrive on scene they learn that another patient was found stooped over the body covered in blood. But the patterns of blood on his clothing were inconsistant with the type of wounds sustained by the victim.

While Grissom and Det.Brass were interviewing the other patients, Sara was searching the victims room. she found biological fluids on the bed sheets and a clothing magizine opened to the Little Boys section.

After running DNA on the biological fluid from the bed sheets they had a suspect, Adam Trent, a serial rapist.Grissom and Sara interview Adam and it is made clear that Adam, for lack of a better term, 'likes' Sara. He thinks that he killed Robbie(the victim)by smashing his head into the ground but, cause of death was suffocation. Adam says,"If you don't believe I killed just check the bucket in the hall way.". After the interview they search the bucket, they find Adams clothes in it and they find lipstick on his underwear. They search Adams room and in an air duct behind his dresser they find a hair brush and several letters from his mother. After talking to a Doctor at the facility they conclude that his mother was or wanted to be way more than his mother. The lipstick leads them to nurse Joanne Mckay. While searching the nurses' station Sara is attacked by Adam Trent. The weapon he attacked her with also lead them to nurse McKay, who turns out to be his mother! Also Sara reveals more about her family. She tells Grissom that after her father was killed her mother was sent to a mental facility for evaluation.

All in all, it was excellent!!!
  • Grissom & Sara investigate when an 'inmate' is found dead in a secure mental institution.

This is a very moody episode. The whole atmosphere is creepy and disturbing, never mind the storyline, which is compelling and revealing in turn.

Sara is obviously very nervous throughout, and we find out why towards the end of the episode. The investigation takes them into so far uncharted territory - trying to interview people who are clearly insane and who have histories of some of the worst kind of sexual and criminal depravity.

It's a cleverly constructed story and one that is not easy to watch in some scenes - the restraining is particularly chilling. SPOILERS may follow...

The main subject is incest - and the lengths a mother will go to to be with the son she is abusing. For once it's good to see a woman as the abuser, because although males are statistically more likely to abuse, women do too, in the same way that male on female domestic abuse is more prevalent, but women can also be violent to their spouses.

The scene where Sara is cornered and attacked and then finally tells Grissom about her mother who was incarcerated after killing her father. Very revealing and sad. It's interesting to hear the DVD commentary to this episode with Jorja Fox, because the actress laughs and obviously has a great sense of humour, which Sidle doesn't seem to have. A lovely episode - shame three of the main characters don't appear, but it's stronger without a B story in this case.
  • Extremely well-written, one of the best!

Oh my gosh…I was on the edge of my seat when that mental hospital guy was about to kill Sara, and did you see the look on Grissom's face??? Just wow. I thought it was really sweet when afterwards, Sara told Grissom about her parents and her rough childhood, and he listened, looking as if he really cared about her. Kinda funny how the writers only had Sara and gris on the case, and how none of the other CSIs are even in this one! That's ok. I don't mind. ;) I think they should have more eps like this one, GSR'y, and on-the-edge-of-your-seat-y.
  • No science, no mystery, just emotional crap, unbelievable

    4.3
    "Poor"
I love CSI because it fuels my love for science and mystery, and the writers balance it well with character and emotional storylines. This episode clearly lacks those things.

The mental institution houses those very dangerous patients, and the nurses/doctors let all the patients loose like they're in a pedia ward? So unbelievable. I can sense that the writers had a very good idea for the episode, they just didn't execute it well, and not much research was done. This was so bad I even forgot that this episode was included in Season 5.

The only redeeming factor in the episode was Adam. James Badge Dale, portrayed the creepy and mentally disturbed Adam so well.
  • One of the best!

    "Perfect"
"Committed" is one of the most emotion-invoking episodes of CSI in a while. There's been a murder in a mental hospital and Grissom and Sara are called to investigate.

The mood is grim and the weather is dark and rainy, which only furthers the feeling of dread and hopelessness in this kind of place. Each patient has his own habits to add to the darkness of the plot, and the motive for the crime is one of the sickest and twisted yet.

The climax is suspenseful and does not need to be spoiled, but I will say that you'll be on the edge of your seat. Petersen and Fox play the scene perfectly, and both the Grissom and Sara characters become a little less static.
  • Dismal and Depressing.

    4.5
    "Poor"
Incredibly long and daringly dismal, this episode showcases why chemistry between actors is important. What could have been an incredible episode is lost in the misery of viewers once again having the idea of Grissom/Sara forced down their throats. The plot is overly predictable. If you didn't see the scene with Sara being held captive at knifepoint then you are exactly the viewer that the committee for bland television is looking for.

The episode begins with a rainstorm, perfectly symbolic of the dreariness to follow. The pace quickly moves to nothingness, bogging the viewer down in unnecessary exposition and random visual details. The fact that this episode was chosen to be a one-case episode with no other CSIs involved makes it even worse.

Missing is Grissom’s understand of those who are different than the majority of the population, a characteristic that was established in season one and brought to light in many other episodes. He reacts to these patients as if they are freaks.

Since when is Sara an expert on medications? Doctors cannot even identify pills as quickly as she did. And speaking of medications did the writers just pick random psych meds and roll them together on these charts?

The finding of the clothing is out of context, as the mop bucket would not have been left in an area where patients have access, especially mental patients with a history of violence.

The locked room scene is absurd. The officer should have been watching the room. The supervisor (Grissom) should have made sure there was someone guarding the door. The patient was too active to be on the medications he was on.

The most accurate portrayal of a person with mental illness in this episode is that of Robbie’s mother. Mental illness is not always easily recognizable. A “crazy” person looks and acts just like everyone else. The difference is in their rationalizations.

“Jail or no jail, she won’t last six months. She’ll die without her son.”

“That would be better for both of them.”

    Sara is so compassionate.

Overall the episode is more like a no-budget indie than an episode of television’s number one rated show.

  • One reason that I keep watching reruns :)

Committed is one of my all time favorite episodes. Not only does it involve a particuarly interesting case, the dynamics between the actors were phenominal. The scene with Sara being held captive was excellent, and I was biting my nails with suspense.

There is one thing that has always bothered me however. Grissom knows a slight background for the case. He knew the death was at a mental hospital for serial rapists, and the criminally insane. So....why did he choose Sara, out of all the CSI's, to come along with him? She and Catherine would seem to be the most obvious people NOT to bring. Maybe Grissom just wanted Sara to work with him :D
  • This is Definately one of the best episodes in the history of CSI

This is Definately one of the best episodes in the history of CSI, it is number one on my list of my favorite episodes. The fact that this episode focussed on Sara & Grissom is what made it so amazing. Nice & full of GSR.

The murder of an inmate in a mental hospital & a bizarre twist in the end, a great case.

We also learn more about Sara's chilhood in this episode.

Grissoms reaction when Sara was in danger was awsome. He just stood there in shock trying to be as calm as he could, but you could tell by the look on his face that he was far from calm, realizing that he couldn't do anything at that moment to save her & knowing that any sudden movement or outburst on his part could result in her being seriously injured or even worse, her death.

This episode proves once again that William Petersen & Jorja Fox are great & talented actors.

  • This is why I watch CSI.

    9.5
    "Superb"
This is one of the best episodes I think I have ever seen. The acting was great and it was cool to see the story focus only on Grissom and Sara. I love the way Billy and Jorja act out their characters and this was just another example of their great acting. It was sad and it was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, especially the scene when Sara was trapped in the nurses station with that crazy guy whose name I forget at the moment.

If you ever get a chance read the original spoilers on YTDAW, the way the script was originally written would have made the episode all the more powerful, not unlike how Butterflied would have originally aired. So this was a great episode with great acting. It just seems to be getting better and better.

  • Jorja and Billy at their very best!!

This is a great episode and is made even better by the fact it is just focused on just Grissom and Sara. This episode kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through!! The plot was great and the acting was impecable! This is why i'm such a big fan of CSI!
  • HAHA CSI does it again! I love this show, and this episode was a fairly good one (except for the notable absense of Willows, Stokes and Brown) but come on, reading a vase with a laser that doesnt move to listen to a conversation? Nonesense!

    8.6
    "Great"
CSI has a habbit of using what me and my mates just refer to as \"Computer Nonesense\"; each week they get a computer to do some random flashy thing that simply isnt possible and then flash some big red text that beeps and reads \"Match Found\", \"Negative\" or something else thats equally obvious and dramatic. This is so daft that its just funny and adds to the character of the show, like Grissoms one-liners, but I have to say that in this episode they really pushed the boat out with the \"getting a conversation off a vase\" thing. Cracks me up.
  • Don't get me wrong, I still love CSI, but this episode was a little too silly, predictable, and far-fetched to really hook me.

    7.3
    "Good"
I think what bothered me most about this whole episode, was how they 'found the audio recording' (will try to stay spoiler-free). I'm sure that if they say that's possible, it is, but it just seemed so... far-fetched.

Add to that a predictable storyline, and I must say was a little bit disappointed.

  • Bone chilling mystery episode. I soooooo saw the twist coming, but only just before it was revealed!!

    9.0
    "Superb"
I love CSI but i'm not really that big a fan of Sara - i prefer Catherine by far. I think the CSI production team must have realized that people weren't connecting to Sara, because recently they've started to develop her character more, making her seem slightly less two-dimensional. This episode does make use of that new character development. It is a bit of a mystery episode as somebody is killed in a criminal mental institution and all of the suspects are under lock and key, or so it seems. This episode is very creepy and slightly uncomfortable at times, it really taps in to all of the characters' vulnerablities - not just the series regulars. The part where Sara is endanged is particularly moving as we get to see Gil's reaction - and it does pull on the heartstrings! All in all a great episode that comes at just the right time in the series, it breaks down some barriers and crosses some lines, but does so with grace.
