I found this to be an awesome episode. No offense, but I didn't like the new girl Gribbs, so I'm glad she's gone. Warrick did a very bad thing by leaving her all alone, but something good came out of it; Sara Sidle arrived to help out. I liked Sara from the first moment I saw her. I found it funny how Cat tried to trick her, of course she didn't fall for it. I really really enjoy the chemistry between Sara and Gil. I think that Sara fits much better with the whole team than Gribbs did. Looking forward to the next episode.
i have to agree with gashy. on the movie played after holly\'s murderer is caught, it shows the attacker trying to hurt holly, holly is groaning at the fact she is being attacked, she rips off her glove and scratches his face. if you really payed attention and if you truly love CSI as much as i do then you would have noticed. really good episode. i have to say, Eric Szmanda is my favourite actor and Greg Sanders is my favourite character in my favourite TV programme. excellent acting skills used throughout the entire life of CSI. i love you eric szmanda. I wish i could meet you. that would make me happy throughout the rest off my life. you rock man!!!
This is one of my favorite episodes, which was the appearance of Sara Sidle. It was nice how they introduced her character, she was originally brought into investigate Warrick, since he left Holly at the crime scene alone. Sara is my favorite character so her introduction onto the series was great for me. I love how she and grissom first interact, she says something can't quite remember what, and grissom knows exactly who it is, and simply says I don't even have to ask, I love that. The smile on Grissom's face when Sara arrived was great. She's like yep it's me.
so from the first moment i set my eyes on sara i have to admit i really didn't like her and to this day i stil find her character insanely irritating.
im sure i just upset her legion of fans but i detest her character although would not go to the length of saying i want her out of the show because she plays a really important part.
im glad she came into the show - i cant see it being as successful if holly gibbs was the main female character under catherine.
the episode is pretty much character development.
interesting case too and i start to adore nick more and more from this episode onwards!!
OK I couldnt believe that warrick left Holly at a crime scene and on top of it she gets shot! So he is put on suspension like he should be. Sara Sidle is called in by Grissom to investagate what happened. A guy who wins a million dollars (I think) is killed in what looks like could be a suicide. They investagate and see that he was pushed and he still had his glasses on so they didnt think he jumped. They end up figuring out that it was his girlfriend that pushed him out of the room because he dumped her because he won the big jackpot.
This episode wasn't as good as the pilot episode but it was still intriguing to watch. I was saddened by the death of Holly. At first it didn't make sense to kill off what I thought was a main character after two episodes but after reading CSI blogs, I later found out that Holly was just a test character that didn't make the cut. How unfortunate. Now we have Sara. Now right off the back, I can tell that she will be one of my least favorite characters just by how she acts. Already she is irritating me. As far as the story line, I thought it was okay. I was definitely glad they caught Holly's Killer. And the way the trapped him was classic. I was a little confused by how the determined the cause of death by the trajectory of the body on the pavement?!?!? Overall I enjoyed it.
Holly Gribbs is in surgery after being shot at a scene. Warrick is in trouble for leaving her to go place a bet, and Sarah Sidel is coming in to investigate. Meanwhile, Gil and Nick are investigating the death of a man who fell to his end from a top floor of a casino shortly after winning millions. There was a lot going on in this episode, but to me the most interesting story was Holly and the investigation of her shooting (and later, death). I liked Holly quite a bit, the actress that portrayed her was quite talented and I felt she would have been a great addition to the show. I suppose, though, that we were supposed to feel like that, and it was a cool and surprising twist on the part of the writers and I bet lots of viewers were shocked back when this episode first aired.
The killer of the suddenly rich man was not very surprising but the investigation was interesting. Certainly more interesting than Warrick being blackmailed by the judge.
This episode was just as normal as the others exept it gave a little dieing twist in the end for Holly. This show was made to be watching only Crime scence nothing more... but i do love it when they add personal problems into their investigation. It makes you want to know more about the Investigators. This episode was good cause it had just a little surprise. Probably a lot of ppl could perdict that she was going to die, infact i probably could have guessed that, but the fact is that you never see somone that you think is going to be important, die in the 2nd episode.
After winning alot of money, a man plunges to his death. Grissom and Nick investigate his murder. Meanwhile, Catherine investigates the shooting/murder of Holly Gribbs. Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox's first episode on CSI)comes onboard to investigate Warrick.
Although this is only the 2nd episode of the series, it is also one that shows the beginning of character development for all of the CSI team. Grissom brings on board someone he trusts to look into why Warrick left his assignment of overseeing a rookie (Holly Gribbs) who was shot at a crime scene. Catherine, who spoke with Holly prior to the shooting takes the task of investigating her murder over the initial objection of Grissom. And because work goes on regardless of personal tragedy, Grissom and Nick investigate the apparent suicide of a man who just won a huge amount of money. This episode is one of many that can be watched over and over again. The characters show their tenacity of solving the crime at hand regardless of the personal loss felt by the death of a colleague. The script is well written and the cast members did a great job showing the personal anguish and at the same time the professional determination to get the job done. Jorja Fox's entry into the show is very well done with her character coming on board due to the team being shorthanded. Her entry solidified the cast ensemble from the the very beginning. We see the molding of the characters and the great chemistry of the cast become apparent in this episode.
in the goofs section it someone wrote that its impossible for holly to have dna under her fingernails cuz she was wearing gloves. if u were paying attention u wouldve seen her glover get ripped and she pulled it off cuz she knew she had to get dna to catch him if he killed her.
Part 2 of a great case! Holly Gribbs a rookie CSI, shot at her very first case? WOW, that has to suck really bad. A man who has won millions of dollars killed a while after it happened. I love this episode, how could i not Sara Sidle comes in! Loved the tension in between Sara and Catherine when she enters the room looking for her. Warrick is in his very very very early stages of gambling and has a bit of a run in with a judge, on putting moeny for the wrong game.
Sad though that she had to die, i seriously thought that Warrick was going to be dismissed as a CSI, but i am also glad that he was not, Grissom really knew what he was doing.
Holly Gribbs is in hospital after being shot at a crime scene that Warrick Brown should of attended with her. Instead he left her there to go gambling. Warrick faces suspension as Holly dies in hospital. Grissom, Nick and new to this episode CSI Sara Sidle attempt to solve the case of a man who won a huge jackpot on the slot machines in one of Vegas' casinos and dumped his girlfriend. His body was found on the pavement outside the room they were staying in, was this man jumping to commit suicide or did someone push him to steal his money. After solving the case Grissom is being pressurised to suspend Warrick but he doesn't. Catherine spends the episode solving the murder of Holly Gribbs who was shot in the pilot episode and later dies in this one. This episode contained something that makes all other tv shows not worth watching. Death, murder and characterisation. This episode sees the Las Vegas Crime Lab welcome a new CSI into their city and into their lives. I am sure Sara will fit in well and help the others solve more and more crimes later on in life. A great second episode to the first season of a GREAT show. Hope to see more good stuff from my favourite group of CSIs.
this is another good episode but not as good as number 1 sadly (but then the 1st is nearly always the best cause its new). im still liking the show and the characters and i didnt guess what would happen at all which is very good of the program to do. it was sad for holly - i felt really sorry for her and her friends too. nobody should have to have that happen to them. i wasnt sure about the beginning though, i think i liked the end more, but beginnings can often be confusing or boring in shows.
This episode reminded me of a joke I heard a while ago. This guy visits his physician for a checkup, and the doctor says, "Unlike popular belief, what happens in Vegas, does NOT stay in Vegas. You have chlamydia." Made me chuckle.
This episode is already a ton better than the last one. Last time, we got to see silly introductions of everyone. Today, we got to see the action. Sure, Holly died. Sucks for her and her family, but we got a replacement. And frankly, this one is even worse then Holly. Atleast Holly looked good.
I could smell it coming from miles away, a black guy named Brown is going to have to deal with a huge amount of sly racial remarks and rich whities using him for their own benefit. Every TV show that has one black guy starring in it, has this little characteristic. We've got plenty of more episodes to watch, so who knows, maybe I'm mistaken? Lets hope so.
In this the second CSI episode we see Sara come into it. She unlike Holly clicks with most of the group straight away. Although we do see her have to work at getting Catherine to like her and how friendly her and Warrick are is left for us to find out in later episodes. This is a good episode and it is great when we first see Sara to watch how Grissoms face lights up at the sound of her voice. The plot is also quite a good one with the curse of winning the money being mentioned but it is not a curse it is simply greed. It is a nice way they leave it with the person who shot Holly being arrested and all the team are waiting to watch him get taken away. A great episode.
This was very well written, I also thought that the case idea was great. So this guy wins 40 million dollars because his girlfriend told him to try and win it, and when he does, he dumps her. Come on. That did make it pretty obvious who killed the guy, because, if I was the girlfriend I'd be really mad, too.
But: Yay! Because they introduce Sara! Sara is my favorite character, and she is SOOOOO much better than Holly!! and the little line between her and Grissom was cute, too.
This episode was the conclusion to the pilot episode. Holly dies and Warrick almost gets suspended but since Grissom takes over, he gets to stay. I think Warrick was wrong to leave the scene but you could tell that he felt really bad about what he did. What a great episode.
This was a great episode. The cast was human in the dealings with the shooting and later in the death of Holly Gribbs. Watching the first episode I'm glad Grissom is in charge of night shift because I can't see Brass doing his job. The episode introduced us to a character that we would all come to know as Sara Sidle and right from the moment we met her I think we could tell that there was something between her and Grissom (the next episode would of course prove this but that can be a review for another time). I like Jorja Fox's character and am always waiting to see what they will do to her character next. It's a great episode and it shows why this show would go on to be number one in the ratings.

A man is killed after winning a fortune and then dumping his girlfriend. So, Grissom, Nick, and newcomer to the CSI team, Sara Sidel, investigate this one. Holly Gribbs is in the hospital and Warrick is up for suspension for leaving her at the crime scene by herself. Holly later dies in the hospital, but Grissom doesn't suspend Warrick. this is what it is all about. i love this show grissom could not ask for a better team than the original to see everyone stick together like clockwork . this series has the staying power most shows would love to have .
