  • A murder in Redlands CA

Was this show modeled around a murder in Redlands CA? I am watching an episode of Solved and all the details all match perfectly. The murder was J P Rempson (sp)
  • From a flood in the drains to bombs.

This was another brilliant episode to start the season that started with a flood in the drains. While Catherine and Warrick was in the drains Greg had his first autopsy. It was quite funny when Catherine found what she thought was another dead body but it was just some man sleeping. When they find the dead person wasn't murdered it leads them to a new discovery of many bones that leads them to a murder. When they find the house where it was dumped from it is stacked with bombs and the bomb squad blow the whole house up.It turns out the mother and the son murdered the victim and the father was the one with the bombs. In the end when Sara was watching the videos it was quite frightening to see how the father had brought up his son.moreless
  • CSI Goes Underground!!

This was another great episode of CSI as Catherine and Warrick head into the Las Vegas sewer system when human remains are discovered. This became a very disturbing case when the strange family are introduced. The angry father, distubed mother and creepy son became obvious suspects from the moment they arrive on screen.

With a house filled with weaponry including pipe bombs the team race against time to collect the evidence they need before the bomb squad moved in, a moment when Sara risks her life.

An interesting episode which makes you wonder whether disturbed people like this really do exist in quiet nieghbourhoods, for our sake I hope not. Another Great Episode. CSI hits top form once again!moreless
  • Bomb's away

Greg is overall my favorite character. I especially love the scene when he was in the autopsy room with Grissom and the Dr. seeing his facial expression was just hilarious. Grissom's case was a little over the top. I meant there was something seriously wrong with that family. Who keeps liquid explosives in their refrigerator? They were all missing some screws, especially the mom. I think Sara was missing some screws too trying to take off door that had six pipe bombs on the inside. Who does that?? The scene at the end was quite disturbing. Watching the father show his son how to make a bomb, sick!moreless
  • bones down in the drain.

Greg went to his first autopsy! And he didnt throw up. I love when he said the stuff in the guys throat looked like the foam in beer. At the crime scenes they find a bunch of explosives. Sara wouldnt leave until they got the door that has blood on it. And there were 6 pipe bombs in the closet! That part got my hert pumping. Then that scene with sara and grissom when he was like im not worried im concerned made me laugh. I thought it was funny when grissom made greg pee in a urine cup and he was like this is csi hazing.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • An attraction between Catherine and Warrick is hinted at in this episode.

    • This episode was most likely the season premiere, but production was halted when Jorja Fox and George Eads were briefly fired. Filming went ahead anyway but when the two were rehired, they were added in the middle of filming, rather then re-shoot the episode with them in it entirely. This explains why Eads and Fox only appear about half way through the episode.

  • QUOTES (14)

    • Warrick: Alright then, let's head upstream.
Catherine: I knew you were going to say that.

    • Warrick: Sara?
Sara: I'm not touching anything. (Warrick watches the bombs)
Warrick: No. Put your stuff down and step away from the closet.
      Sara: What?
Warrick: Put down your stuff and step away from the closet. (Warrick grabs Sara by the back of her vest and pulls her back. Sara looks back at Warrick. She follows his gaze into the closet and sees the pipe bombs. Sara slowly backs away from the closet and stands up)
      Sara: Those are pipe bombs.
Warrick: Yeah. (in radio) Dispatch... this is CSI Brown. We're at the Durbin residence. We have explosives on the scene. Roll out bomb squad immediately. Roll out bomb squad. (Sara takes out a tool and kneels inside the closet) What are you doing?
Sara: There's blood evidence on the door. If the bomb squad detonates the place, it's gone.
      Warrick: Sara.
Sara: It'll only take a second. (Sara uses the wrench to take the bolt off the door hinge. The first one comes loose and falls to the floor with a solid thud. Sara glances nervously up at the pipe bomb on the tool kit in the closet. It rocks in place. Sara stands up to get the bolt off the top of the door. Warrick hands her an electric screwdriver from his own kit)
Warrick: Here, try this. (Sara uses the electric screwdriver and gets the first screw off the door's hinge plate. It falls to the floor. She turns and looks at the bomb. It doesn't move)
Sara: Nice. (Sara removes the remaining screws off the hinge plate. Warrick tries to get the door off. It won't budge. He and Sara both rattle the door lightly to try to take it off)
      Warrick: It's stuck.
Sara: I think we're gonna need a little push. (Warrick takes a deep breath)
Warrick: All right. On three. One... two... three. (they pull the door off the closet. The pipe bomb doesn't move) Can we get the hell out of this place now?

    • Brass: Well, the kid gets murder, mom's an accessory, and dad gets felony explosives. It's a family-value pack.

    • Grissom: If you're gonna be sick, Greg, do it in the sink.
Doc Robbins: Not in the drain pan.
      Greg: I don't feel sick.

    • Sara: I don't have a death wish and I'm not a drunk. In case you were worried.
Grissom: I'm not worried. I'm concerned.
Sara: Isn't that kind of the same thing?

    • Greg: What are you doing?
Grissom: Good you're here. (throws a cup at him) Fill this up for me will ya?
      Greg: With what?
Grissom: It's a urine specimen cup, Greg. What do ya think?
      Greg (scoffs): Okay.
(A little later Greg comes back with the cup filled)
Grissom: That took a long time. You may need a prostate exam.
Greg: My prostate is just fine. I'm not a soda fountain.
Grissom: Well, hopefully you are, 'cause I need a number two as quickly as possible.
Greg: What is this all about?
Grissom: The victims body was found in the sewer. Ambient temperature 80 degrees. The corrosive chemicals caused the body to decompose faster than normal. And I wanna find out how much faster. Today.
Greg: This is some kind of CSI hazing. Make me appreciate blood and semen more.

    • Sara: I heard you finally lost your virginity. (Greg gives her a look and Sara smiles) First autopsy, how was it?
Greg: It was fine. How was your first time? How'd you react?
      Sara: I puked.
      Greg: I didn't puke.
Sara: Way to go, tough guy.

    • (Catherine slips and falls and Warrick catches her)
      Warrick: You all right?
      Catherine: Yeah. I think.
Warrick: Whoa. (pause, they stare at each other with their faces a mere inch apart, they keep staring at each other until someone interrupts them)

    • Catherine: So this isn't about drugs or beatin' up homeless dudes, it's just plain stupidity.

    • Catherine: Did I ever tell you the city paid me a dollar a square foot to rip out my lawn and replace it with rocks? Because we were in a drought.
      Warrick: Are you kiddin' me?
      Catherine: No.
Warrick: This city was not made for rain.

    • (About the victim in the drain)
Grissom: Well, at least we know where he came from. (shines his flashlight down the sewer)
Catherine: Aren't we going to at least draw straws?
      Grissom: No.

    • Mr. Durbin: Sons of bitches! I'm gonna sue your ass into the ground. I hope you know that. Yeah. I'm gonna own you. I'm gonna own this whole place. In fact, maybe that's where I'll live. I'm just gonna move in here.
Catherine: Let me guess, he lawyered up?
Brass: Yeah. He stopped talking right after I told him we blew up his house.

    • Rick Dysart (to Grissom after sweeping the garage for bombs): Only one thing you need to worry about: If you see me running, make sure you keep up.

    • Owen Durbin (threatening Catherine and Brass): You talk to my mother like that again, I'll kill you. I'll kill both of you!

  • NOTES (4)

    • When speaking to the father, Brass mentions Timothy McVeigh. Timothy McVeigh was executed for his role in the Oklahoma City bombings on April 19th, 1995, which, to this date, was the deadliest incident of domestic terrorism in the United States (and was the deadliest act of terrorism, domestic or not, until the September 11th attacks in 2001).

    • Bomb Tech: If you see me running, try to keep up.

This is an old joke that has been printed on T-shirts which read "I am a bomb technician. If you see me running, try and keep up."
