  • A fantastic series finale which makes up for a hit-and-miss season

    9.5
    "Superb"
'For Gedda' was a fantastic episode and a superb series finale which wrapped up Warrick's character and the mob storyline in great style. It was nice to see Warrick finally face up to the many close calls he has had over the shows history and wake up to his obsessive, impulsive behaviour. But then I wouldn't have expected it to have been handled any other way; although you may feel as an audience you were 'fed' Warrick's remorse to make his death sadder – I didn't really mind. The overall storyline in the episode was interesting, but at no point did I ever feel Warrick was guilty of the murder. Luckily this didn't create a disappointing distraction to the plot as the story became more about finding out who set Warrick up rather than just proving his innocence.

I watched this episode only recently so I knew Warrick was going to be killed off in the episode (I just didn't know how they'd do it) but the end still shocked me. The killer is unexpected and the way the scene played out was really sad and shocking. It's also nice to know the storyline has been left unconcluded and I almost hope the killing remains unsolved for some of season 9 at least – just to make it a little more interesting. The scenes in the bar where all the CSI's sat eating breakfast was really poignant and showed how much of a family they are – in a way I wish there had been a nicer moment between Catherine and Warrick as I always felt they were a 'would be/could be' couple. But that was perhaps handled earlier in the episode as Catherine talks to Warrick in the interview room.

To sum up, 'For Gedda' was a great season finale in a very up and down season. For a character I didn't always like, Warrick's demise was both heartbreaking and shocking. Gary Dourdan did a great job with the character for eight seasons and ensured, in the end, that the character of Warrick would be sorely missed.

Warrick is framed for murder and it's up to the team to figure out who is the real killer. Warrick doesn't remember anything from the murder and everything is stacked up against him. Of course, Grissom figures it out and clears Warrick's name. The end of the episode was a shocker! Warrick was shot by a cop - I didn't expect him at all. It'll be interesting to see how they're going to figure out who the killer of Warrick is and how they're going to bring him in. Anyways, the case in this episode was not that interesting to me - only the characters were. I liked the twist at the end. Overall, solid episode and season finale.

During a funeral a coffin brakes at the bottom and two bodies fall out. Warrick sees the John Doe and realises that he knew him. Victims Lenny was a retied cop and now a PI. Warrick voice is on a sound bite file.

Grissom calls Warrick and leaves a message he rings him back and we see war rick with a gun in his hand, and then the police turn up. Grissom turns up and finds a dead body and war rick there. He is under arrest by the police. Warrick says he doesn't know what happened. Catherine and Nick turn up at the scene and watch as war rick is lead into a police car. When a test is carried out it is discovered that Warrick was passed out and someone else him up when the gun was shoot. An unexplained print belongs to Daniel Pritchard. The team open his locker and find his cuffs and gun are both missing. Grissom inform s everyone about the recent discovery's and so tells Warrick that good news that he was framed. Warrick leaves and gets into his car. He starts the engine, and sees a cop who knocks on the window and asks him to troll it down. They talk and Warrick says they will catch the rogue cop. He pulls a gun on him and shoots and kills Warrick with one shot. He sits there badly bleeding and dies, he sit then shoot again. The gun is then put inside car and he walks away.

I can't stand it! It seems like another beloved character disappears with every episode. Sam Braun? Gone. Sophia? Gone. Sara? Gone. Now Warrick? Who's next? That's truly going to be the underlying story line of the show. I'm taking all bets. My money's on Brass. Or maybe Doc Robbins. They certainly can't get rid of three CSI's in a row, can they? Although they do seem to be losing people in order of increasing importance to the show. The only logical next victim of the CSI axe can be Grissom. It's just getting ridiculous. If they lose another regular cast member, I'm not watching anymore.
  • Shocking!

I have to say, I was shocked by the ending of this episode. Overall, it WAS a good episode but the ending was just like "Whoa!" I had heard that the actor who plays Warrick (Gary Dourdan) was in trouble for drug use and other things so I guess it was logical that he would be shot. My favourite scene was probably in the restaurant before he gets shot. This episode was amazing. The writers could not have written a better season finale if they had tried. I guess they got a lot of ideas while on strike. Can't wait for next season!

    **** SPOILERS ****

    O.M.G! To put it curtly.

I maybe late, but wow! That has got to be the best 45+mins Ive seen in a long time! Despite the midseason section of average/above average shows, CSI 8 ends with an extravaganza of a tale. This is a perfect episode.

From the beginning a set of innocuous circumstances betray nothing of what lies ahead. Two bodies in a casket suggest the possibility of a funeral home scam or a hitman trying to remove evidence of their crime. Its only when Warrick recognises the second body that the plot of the episode begins to career through a rollcoaster of wonderful emotion filled scenes, to an inevitable and spectular end - which one of the best Ive frankly scene.

As the initial investigation begins to gather pace, events take a turn for the worse when Gedda, Warrick nemesis from earlier in the season calls him up and requests a meet. It is from this moment on that the screenplay climbs and dovetails with exquisite delicacy as Warrick is found, suspected and investigated of Gedda's brutal Tarrantinesque murder. However, the evidence doesnt quite add up and suggests a setup. Grissom and the team though off the case, investigate the initial case believing that its connected, indeed the body that Warrick recognised was a PI he had hired to investigate Gedda because he was unable to.

The link to Gedda is tenuous but, Grissom asks Undersheriff McKeen if he can perform his own investigation on the evidence. So as the tension builds dramatically lulling us into believing that Warrick is a murderer, your inards will be screaming for Grissom to find some evidence to clear Warrick. There are some really great scenes here, raising the bar as the stakes of Warrick's actions and the results if the team fail to find the evidence. I dont think there have been that many episodes that beat the way the drama is intensified the way it is here.

Ok, I knew it was a setup and I guessed who set him up (it was still only a hunch more than anything) and this is why, this episode really nails the viewer to the sofa. There is very little given away other than what is seen and heard in real time. The use of flashbacks is limited to the absoulute minimum and doesnt provide the viewer with much chance to evaluate what is theory and what isnt. Add to that the pace of the unfolding action and before you know it, you will have reached the end, where the mother of all twists reaches out from the tely, and grabs your throat before lynching you in for a knockout blow that took my breath away.

Sure Ive hated Warrick (the character) and even wished he'd left long ago. His part in the show has been in terminal decline for some portions of the last few seasons, but I really though the last couple with him self-imploding brought something extra to the show. Shame he's gone, but wow - what a way to leave the show.

Oh and Id guessed that the cop that was framed as Gedda's mole was to low rank to be the real killer. I suspected that McKeen would have been a perfect candidate to be mixed up with the Mob!

What a superb ending to the writer affected strike. What a superb Knockout ending and what a great hook for next seasons start! CSI is back and its better than ever after watching this episode!

    Do not miss!
  • Can't imagine they had to kill Warrick off from the series. Kinda twisted my stomach watching the last few seconds of the episode since was already quite happy that IA guy congratulated him. Then WHAM!!!

Can't imagine they had to kill Warrick off from the series. Kinda twisted my stomach watching the last few seconds of the episode since was already quite happy that IA guy congratulated him. Ended up that was just the pickup then blasted watchers off to a rough landing with Warrick getting blown away (up close!).

Can't wait to watch the next episode to this one. Though Also can't imagine not having Warrick's sarcasm around. Not to mention his kinda dark but "human" side. Well... I guess the memory of Gedda got the best of him.

Hmm... Jerry really has a knack for pickin you up and taking you for a loop and spin before droppin you off on a whopping ending. Nice work! Very nice.
  • I'd like to say that I was shocked when Warrick was killed, but let's be honest: we all saw it coming.

Between Gary Dourdan's drug problems and arrests and the early wrap-up of the crime in the episode, the last few minutes were clearly set up to kill him off. As soon as Warrick left the diner I was thinking "He's going to get shot. He's going to get shot...", except for the moment he turned his car on when I thought "His car is going to get blown up", but then, back to "He's going to get shot". And i just wanted to point out that this is the second black detective they've killed off. Coincidence? Discuss.

    See y'all next season.

they write off two of the most relatable characters in one season?!? we all as viewers and fans can identify with Sara and Warrick struggles in some way or another because we aren't perfect either. Grissom, Katherine and Nick are characters that are generally unrealistic and in the real world we don't like or just don't care enough about.

besides troubled actors (referring to Dourdan's personal life issues) are the ITs right now (downey, baldwin, barrymore, lohan, olson, sheen, lawrence, wilson, etc.).

don't get me wrong we like the remaining characters, but we also 'like' our significant others. we all love bad asses and trouble in our lives. I guess this show will have to rely heavily on their cool stories/cases and great cinematography because these remaining characters just can't pull much out of us realistically.

i still hope these remaining seasons are successful and the series bows out still on top of its game. Warrick will be missed greatly.
  • It was the saddest episode ever. Warrick is dead and CSI has lost a great character. The episode it self was good but the death took it down. I just don't think the plot for the next season was worth the character being gone forever.

How could they do it. Warrick is dead and it was a "GOOD" guy who killed him. Warreck has not had it good since the very first episode and now they kill him. eight years of wathcing him an dhe is just gone. Episode wise it was a ver good episode i was compeled to watch the whole time., Even to the end when they killed him. Warrick was set up and the episode was dedicated to solving what happened. I'm sure ever viewer was excidted to know that he was not guikty and at the end when the whole crew(Minus Sarah) was together for the last time. It was a tearjerker and don't get me wrong my low rating is not because it was a bad episode just that at the end of it the situation will have a heartbreaking outcome.

I knew it was that person!!!! That person looks so suspicious from the beginning!!!! Liked the way the team tried to help Warrick, plus the group having the drink together was great.

I knew about Warrick, because at the end of one of the episode, we see that there was someone calling Gedda saying about Warrick being suspended, and I knew that there was someone it there that would love Warrick to get in trouble.

I thought that the show was great, very exciting… though I understand what they had to end the way it did… if only…

Well can't wait for next season… hope it be good, and have more episode to the season too.
  • Warrick is accused of murdering Gedda who killed the striper.

    "Perfect"
Warrick is accused of killing a gangster who killed the striper who he got involved with earlier in this season. I thought this was a great eppy, although I have to say that when he said he couldn't remember I thought he was guilty. How many suspects have said they couldn't remember. I love Nik was so unwilling to believe he would have killed Gedda. But, that it was another cop was shocking to me, this man had the force under his belt, where does that leave the rest of the force, and the forensic team. How many other moles are there in the force???

The ending of the deputy sheriff on the payroll, the killer not the only cop on take was just.....i was totally floored. But, not just by that but Warrick being killed. I didn't know Gary Dourdan was leaving, and i will very much miss him. I enjoyed the friendship between Nik and Warrick, his passion, and the potential sexual relationship with Cat.

It really is a loss for CSI!!!

A nice wrap-up to the storyline about Warrick getting involved with the stripper. The show did a good job from season one in exposing his personal demons - right from the beginning he had the gambling problem and the involvement with the corrupt judge. How long will it be before the team uncovers the secrets behind the UnderSheriff? I hope Eckle is dirty - he is such a weasel and buttkisser that it would make perfect sense if he is a part of the conspiracy. On a personal level, it is too bad that Gary Dourdan couldn't conquer his problem. I understand that Bill Petersen was organizing an intervention for him at the time he was arrested.
  • The Best Character dies off the show.

    "Good"
What the h*ll were they thinking? Why would they kill off Warrick, he's the best one on the show and really one of the main reasons I watch. First they insult him by only having him on as a walk on character for the past three seasons, excluding this one, now they want to kill him off. I'm pissed!

I really don't know whether I'm going to watch the show ever again if he is really gone, I mean who do they think carries the show, Grissom. People tune in to see about Catherine and Warrick(if we are lucky enough to see an episode with him on it) and to watch them solve the crimes. Nothing else matters. The only reason I gave it a 7.5 is because it was a good episode up until the last 5 minutes.
  • Shocked? Really? You don't know the formula by now?

    "Good"
I've been watching this CSI from day one. It has been one of my favorite broadcast TV shows, but it has definitely devolved over the last few years. (I did enjoy the 'miniature killer' though)

When it came to this episode though, I don't know how anyone did not see this comming. I didn't know Warrick was leaving, and as that scene in the diner unfolded I knew he was dead. So many things allude to someone "higher up the ladder" wouldn't let him find Pritchard and bring down whoever it was. The diner scene should have let anyone who regularly watches the show know bad things were afoot. As for the plot of the episode, I have to say did anyone NOT see it comming? Warrick in trouble, Grissom still believes, and then Grissom gets Warrick out of the jam. Haven't we seen that episode 6 or 7 times? Every season we get a "Warrick Effed Up" episode.

Maybe it is hard to be unpredictable after almost a decade of writing and filming the same show. Who knows? But this was a very formulaic CSI episode, and if you didn't know Warrick was dead as he left the diner, I don't know what you've been watching all this time.

I still like the show, and it was a good way to lead into the new season.
  • Shocking. Was not expecting that!

Where do I begin? Well--this episode was great and a great season finale. Also, it was nice to see some Warrick action. 1. It was intense throughout the whole episode. It keep me on the edge of my seat. At first, I really thought that Warrick had done it but then I was happy that he was framed.

    2. Yo!Bling action in this episode. Catherine has always loved Warrick and always will. The ending scene with those two and them sharing that moment was really touching. It sucks that they weren't together.

    3. So, I knew that Warrick was leaving but I never saw that coming. I thought he would've quit his job or if he got fired but I never thought they would kill him off! *sniff*

Over-all, this episode was fantastic and can't wait to see what the Season 9 premiere holds. RIP Warrick Brown. You will be missed.

I really thought Warrick had killed Gedda. He deserved it and we've seen a very different and degradated Warrick this season so I thought it was somehow possible...I really liked all the team interaction. I liked that Nick was so faithfull to Warrick and that Greg had his doubts. But at the end everything gone well. Warrick was framed and they could prove it. I loved the scene in the caffeteria. All the team happy and having breakfast together. But it was too good to be true...When I saw the IAB guy in Warrick's window I knew that something was going to end really badly...Warick was one of my favourite characters in the first seasons. I'm really gonna miss him...CSI would not be the same without him...

Wow, I can't believe they killed off Warrick, that was so unexpected for me. I new he was leaving but thought he was being dropped to a recuring status. Any way, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the characters take it, especially Willows and Grissom. I hope that the solve the case fairly quickly next season, I don't want the whole season to drag on with that case underlying the whole time, plus I want to see the Mckinnon get caught. I hear that Sarah will return after finding out what has happened, I wonder if it will be perminent or just for an episode or so.

Well I still really am surprised by this, I haven't got my head around the episode properly yet. All up though it was an OK episode, could have been better though, the only thing that made it finale material was Warricks death, otherwise it didn't feel like a finale to me.

I hear Sara is coming back I'm not sure as a CSI or what but she had confirmed it. Damn CSI will be weird without having Warrick there I've been watching them since day one. I'll def. miss Warrick he was the sexiest guy on the show =/ . Now I'm excited to see what happens to that damn undersherrif. I guess we shall wait

I actually don't know why the writers found necessary kill such a great and loved character like Warrick Brown. It was something I was not ready for. I thought that maybe he would end up in jail, but the fact that he died was without doubts unnecessary. For sure, in the next season we will see how the team feels about his death, and how they will solve the case. I didn't think not even for a second that Warrick could have kill Gedda, because it's true that he had difficult moments in his past, and hard challenges to win, like his problem with bets, but definitely he is not a killer. Or better, I should say wasn't. Moreover the beautiful finale scene where all the members team are sitting having breakfast, laughing and having a very great and joyful life, didn't make me think at all about such a big tragedy. Maybe this is what the writers wanted us to feel. And finally, I have to say that I was expecting Sara's return. An important episode like this one needed in my opinion all the team togheter, Sara included. Maybe she will come back next season. I hope so.
  • Season ending as only CSI could. Very well thought out made me sad but it is an excellent episode.

CSI has been one of my very best favorite shows of the new era. The ending of this season was quite shocking to me as i did not expect the last scene. Warrick Brown has always been a special case for Gil since the beginning of the series. He has brought many emotions from this viewer and I will miss his uniqueness as a member of this very special team. I too will grieve for Warrick Brown, a man who was truly marching to his own beat. He was a basically good person who had flaws, just like most of us other humans. If Sara should return it will probably only be for the final act of the episode. I don't see her as a recurring role in this series.

The Undersheriff as the murderer that indeed surprised me. I always thought there was something going on behind the scenes with this guy but I never expected him to kill someone let alone a fellow cop.

Ecklie hiring a new CSI Bryce Adams (Lauren Lee Smith) should provide a new view of things.

Warrick was a very special character and I will dearly miss him.
  • Warrick's private war with Gedda reaches a climax. Gedda is murdered with Warrick's gun while Warrick is unconscious. A perfect frame, almost. The CSI's clear him. A patrol officer did the frame, but the boss is the undersheriff who shoots Warrick.

Warrick is obsessed with Gedda and has hired a private detective to prove Gedda killed a girl Warrrick had befriended as a source. The P.I. is found double buried in a casket which collapses and reveals the two bodies. Then Warrick gets a call to go see Gerda and when he arrives, he is chloroformed and when he wakes his handcuffs are on Gedda and his gun murdered Gedda. Only with the CSI's hard work do they prove a patrolman framed Warrick. It doesn't end there. The undersheriff sees Warrick late at night alone in his car, and when Warrick says he can't stop until he catches the top guy, the undersheriff kills Warrick and walks away.

When i read that the central character was Warrick i already started to hate the episode, because honestly there were never a good episode when Warrick showed up/was involved a lot. So as i watched the episode i realy thought was a weak one, nothing interesting, nothing fun, nothing new, just the same boring stuff that you see when Warrick shows up.

And then finaly in the end it got interesting, i honestly was praying that he got shot when he was leaving the restaurant but it didnt happend, so i was waiting and waiting, and then finally, i wont have to see that annoing character never again.

Those of you who liked him and will miss him, please dont hate me, but im glad to see him gone :)
  • I've always hated Undersheriff McKeen with a passion since day one for some reason - now I know why!!

The perfect way to cap off a season with an ongoing storyline from 'Cockroaches' which is an under-rated episode by the way.

Anyway, I love the intro at the funeral with the harmonizing gospel choir but was shocked to see two bodies burst from a coffin! Anyway, turns out the case is related to Warrick and his obsession with Lou Gedda. Then he is accused of murdering Gedda when he turns up torured and shot on his own chair but even he is uncertain of his innocence. Obviously it wasnt him and the team prove just that.

However it was also obvious something bad would happen as there was a good 5 minutes before the end of happiness and joy and lets face it, this is CSI and lets just say someone is trying to make sure his tracks remain well and truly hidden! R.I.P...

i can't believe they killed him off. ahhhh. i loved warrick. i knew he was having alot of problems this season and he has done since the start with him always being the rogue csi of sorts but i loved his character. i can't believe this season really destroyed the old character base.

what was worse was that how nick was all happy about warrick being proved innocent at the end.

i can't wait til the next season's first episode as it will surely be amazing!! i cant imagine how nick or any of the rest will react but it should be good.

i was really happy though that he got proved innocent in the end. at least it ended with him going out on a high!!

This was some of the best acting and writing I've seen from the show in a very long time. The past couple of seasons have been slowly dying, but this year's finale was just shocking! I can't believe they actually killed off Warrick. He's been on there since day one. What's even harder to understand is why they would figure out a way to prove Warrick as being framed when they kill him in the last 5 minutes of the show. I knew something wasn't right when there was like 10 minutes left in the show and Warrick had already been released. I don't know how they are going to come out next season, but hopefully they don't drop any more of the regulars off the show, otherwise there won't be a show left. I think they should go out with a bang before any of the other actors decide they need to move on.

well as with most csi finales this one did not fail to grip and surprise. as befits his bad boy image warwick was once again apperently into it up to his neck. the whole gedda storyline has been fantastic building to this cracking climax. dispite knowing that (dourdan)is leaving, and the gedda storyline was based round him to some extent, it was still a shock to see how he went, not for the fact that he was shot, but the fact that it was the undersheriff who turns out to be the bad guy never saw that coming in a million years. roll on series 9

Unlike Sara Sidle character left the CSI job when Jorja Fox wanted to leave the show, they decided to kill out Warrick Brown character when Gary Dourdan resigned instead. Therefore, we may not be able to see Warrick again unless they will bring him back from the death.

Even the storyline of this episode was not really impressive (since it was too tragic at the end). However, it was nice to see the whole team tried to clear Warrick out and finally proved that he was framed. Moreover, it was good that they brought up the issue of the corrupted cops. Too bad, the worst one could be in the high rank.

Talk about your ninth-inning saves. Thirty minutes into this episode, I was ready to write it off as probably the weakest CSI season finale ever (momentarily blocking out season 6's finale, apparently). Warrick is accused of killing Gedda, the mobster with the barber chair who had killed a waitress with whom Warrick had had a dalliance earlier this season. Now, having missed the dog-fighting episode and seeing Warrick return from a suspension in the rodeo episode, I was surprised this storyline was still extant. Also, knowing that this was Gary Dourdan's last episode as a contract player, I figured this story was going to be resolved in one of two ways--Warrick actually killed the guy and was going to prison at the end of the show or Warrick was framed and his friends would clear him, but he'd no longer be able to be a CSI because he'd been arrested. So, 30 minutes into it, option 2 seems to be the course the writers are charting, not that the episode doesn't have its charms sprinkled throughout. I liked the way the head Internal Affairs detective was played, particularly when he lets Catherine visit Warrick in Interrogation, sounding somewhat conciliatory ("He could use one (a friend).") and then pipes in over the loudspeaker once Catherine leaves that "We're not done yet." I wouldn't mind seeing an Internal Affairs spin-off with this character as an investigator. I also liked how Greg sounds like the voice of reason (and bases his understanding of the situation on his experiences that we've seen in a previous episode) in contrast to Nick's understandably loyal but emotional response. The episode also makes several references to the series pilot, some more oblique than others. Holly Gibbs and Warrick's role in her death are recounted, Warrick pays off a wager to Nick upon his entrance, and Brass is more antagonistic toward Warrick than he's been since season 1, and from the recap it's clear why: Warrick had gone rogue. Brass is not his usual jocular self. However, until the last few minutes, the episode plays out like your typical "regular is accused of murder" show.

The real charm of this episode is that it managed to skirt two common pratfalls of series television. As a viewer, I managed to keep focused on the story as opposed to thinking about it as Warrick's last episode, and it ended the season on a cliffhanger without making me feel like I was only getting a partial episode. Foreshadowing was used very effectively this episode. Even when something happened that I expected to happen, it didn't come the way I expected it to. I was genuinely surprised by the last scene. Things that were minor gained new significance for me. The scene between Brass and McKeen raises questions about motive. I flashed back to the way McKeen reacted to Warrick's accusation in the first episode with Gedda that the mobster must have had cops on his payroll. I'm at least as intrigued by why the undersheriff did what he did as I was about whether Sara would be found alive last season. This episode reminded me of how good a director Kenneth Fink is on CSI, and he deserves Emmy consideration for this one.
