According to CSI Files.com, actor William Petersen will be taking a break from the show in the upcoming seventh season to honor a theatre commitment.  They'll write him out for a couple of episodes and hope to have a big-name guest star fill in for those episodes he's gone.  These Grissom-less episodes will air in January so that the actor will be back just in time for February Sweeps.

    Here's the article link:  http://www.csifiles.com/news/260706_01.shtml

No, no the real spoilers are in the article - I think we already touched on this in the GSR thread.  We have to wait until Dec/Jan to see the episode that will "set up his leaving".  Darn.

Yeah, I realized that as soon as I hit the submit button.  "DOH!!"

As for the mild comment, that's how CSI Files.com listed the article "Grissom Leaving...." (Mild Spoilers Within).

But then again, I think they list all their articles as having mild spoilers within, whenever it's anything major, they say that in the title of the article.

LOL, I think most people on here, if they've been on the GSR board (I posted a similar article from TV Guide a few days ago) have already seen it so , no big deal, But watch out for the mods

Yeah, I already had my thread that I posted on the opening episode of Season 7 closed by the mods with a message that it would be re-opened once we got closer to the premiere date of Season 7.

I'm certainly hoping William Petersen's absence mid Season 7 while he does A Dublin Carol means more screen time for the established CSI characters as opposed to bringing in a special guest star.

Do they forget that George Eads did a fabulous job stepping in for Billy last year in Gum Drops when there was a death in the Petersen family. George did it again in Pirates of the Third Reich when they shuffled some scenes around that were supposed to be Grissom scenes (e.g. meeting Sara at the hospital) and gave them to Nick instead. Why don't they just go with George?

    OR

Wouldn't it be great to see Gary Dourdan's Warrick get assigned to be shift supervisor in Grissom's absence as he was in Ellie? He is long overdue for a heavy storyline. In fact, all the guys are due for more screen time.

I LOVE your "Clue" quote!... I hope they don't make it too severe for Grissom's leaving... I wonder what it'll be though...

Thanks.  Clue is a great movie.  Good quotes available from that movie, just like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Princess Bride, Real Genius, and others.  Monty Python especially..."Help, help, I'm being repressed!!", "Bring out your dead!!", "Go away you silly English Ki-ni-gits", "We are the Knights who say Nee!", etc.

The article said that the reason Grissom will be absent is some sort of emotional upheaval that causes him to leave for a time.

Maybe Grissom's mother dies. Is she still alive? She hasn't been mentioned in a while.

Hmmm...I didn't think she was alive...and all I remember is Grissom mentioning his mother when talking about his hearing problem and that he learned sign language because of her.

Well, I know in "The Accused Is Entitled", he tells his mentor that his mother says hello, so I assumed she was still alive.

That was kinda my thought, too. I also kinda hope that's not the case - I'd love to get a look at the woman who raised someone like Grissom - but it's not like we've seen any other of the CSIs' parents.

Ahh, I forgot about that, so yeah, maybe that's the emotional trauma that hits Grissom.

You're not being serious, are you?   We've met Nick's parents when he was buried alive in the two part season finale of season 5 and we saw Catherine's mother in that episode that had Marg Helgenberger's real-life husband guest star on the show.

Ah. My memory is faulty, then (only saw Grave Danger the one time). As Emily Litella would say, "Oh. Well. That's different. Never mind."
