  • The discovery of the body of a popular socialite thrown among a group of dead dogs takes the team into the world of dog fighting. Also, Warrick's troubles continue as he is the prime suspect in the death of a stripper he had been too close to.

This episode has been influenced by many things. One thing is the plight of vilified NFL star Michael Vick. The dead socialite in this episode was a person everybody thought was terrific and had many admirers, but then it's revealed she was involved in illegal activities. Another outside influence is the Oscar winning film The Departed. There's a mole in the Vegas Police Department tipping off the bad guys. These influences help make a good and entertaining episode, but there have been better episodes of this show this season as well as seasons past. This episode is not terrible however.

  • Great direction, decent story line, superb actors too. Only one thing..see below

I found this episode very disturbing, even though I know it's all 'staged'. The story I found, however unpalatable, was up to their usual standard. Well writen, excellently acted etc. but disturbing nontheless. All characters played it well. I suspect that this practice is undertaken, but I do not wish to be reminded of it. Perhaps someone in authourity saw this episode & will do more to stamp this unsavourey cruelty out. I gave it a low rating just because of the above. Otherwise this is a pretty decent offering. This will not stop me watching future episodes though. Nick being buried alive, Greg doing his best and gold digging miscreants trying to bring him down, Sarah being at the mercy of a really smart but really flawed genius nutter, all superb story lines & I hope for more. I watch to be entertained & maybe informed of new detection methods. Again I realise it's a show.
  • Odd and chaotic

The previous episode was intriguing: it showed that Warrick had serious problems, some of them had been hinted before, but that episode was the culmination. And what would be more of a scandal than a murder committed by one of the criminalists? Now this episode should have been an even more character-developing, revealing even more of Warrick's nature. But it was not so.

In fact, this concentrated more on the other case, that of the dog-fighting. And there some silly things about it: DODIS. As it appears, they also have dogs' DNA analyses, just in case. I think none of us bought that.

As for the dead exotic dancer - it could have been so much more. But somehow it was decided that Warrick should be let off the hook quite easily, so that everything would be okay. This episode was a real let-down, compared to the previous one.
  • Not a bad episode but one that focused on a difficult subject

Continuation of the Warrick vs the Vegas mob; I was glad to see Grissom finally take a tough line with Warrick for becoming too involved in the case. Grissom sometimes has the tendency to stick up for his team perhaps a little too much, even when they cross a line. So it was good to see Grissom give Warrick the ultimatum; take a suspension or be fired. Two episodes into the story line and I'm still not a massive fan of it; I don't like the hot-headed nature of Warrick's temperament which comes out a lot in this episode. It's clear to see he is becoming more and more of a loose cannon, and it's not hard to see how each scene involving Warrick will go – with him either arguing with someone or storming off. Moving on to the episodes other storyline (dog fighting), it was, again, not particularly enjoyable. However with this story, this was purely down to how difficult it was to watch dogs in those situations. It was nice, but unsurprising, to see CSI use one of their characters to stamp down their opinion on a grotesque 'sport'. The murderer in this story is one we, as an audience, will find difficult to hate as their cause appears greater than the victims. It's good when CSI, or any of these crime show have a murderer who isn't just an evil person, as it gives the story some more depth.

Overall, a difficult episode to watch but still enjoyable in parts

update: ive watched the episode but...........

but, like what ive mentioned on my prev review that i skipped some parts, like the dog fighting, when the kind was already telling nick how elizabeth was "training" the dogs...i changed the channel but well they gave justice to the episode, giving light and reality to the truth of dog fighting. warrick is a bit "over acting" cant wait for the ending of his story. so sad to see also that season 8 is his last season...i dont want to see the end of csi.... :(

or i hope warrick and sara's character will just do "guest appearances" once in a while.

awesome episoden i realey enjoy it i was afraid that this show couldint survive without sara but i was prove wrong , and i didnt expect to like this episode because i didnt like the previous one but i was surprised to find out how great this episode was especialy the final twist ( i cant wait for next episode ) it makes me very sad how short this season is going to be and there was some great grissom - warrick moment . loved it , by the way the part where the dog died was very very sad

This was a hard episode to watch, to see what is happening to these dogs. I've always been more of a cat person but this got to me. To me this would have been a perfect episode for Sara to return in, considering her beliefs, and the fact that she's a vegetarian, I'm not completely sure it completely matches this episode. But it was sad to see how sad Grissom was, it was made in this episode with this poem that Grissom won't be moving on. It was wrong to have dogs attack that lady, it kind of fits though, she was causing them pain so the lad thought it'd be only fair if the dogs cost her pain.

When I say it was painful to watch I don't mean the storyline and acting were that bad I had to look away because I really enjoyed this episode and do not mean that. I meant that I found that somes parts of the episode made me sad because of what I saw people doing to dogs. I cannot believe that there is a dirty cop on the inside feeding information about Warrick to the guys that paid to get him set up. Something tells me that Warrick hasn't even faced the hard parts yet. The worst is still to come and I am wondering how much worse it can get.
  • This was a cleverly plotted episode with outstanding deatials....but very back and forth.

It's not unusual for CSI to cover more than one case in an episode. However, when one of the cases involves a main character and is continued from the episode before it becomes more difficult to follow. Warrick had to clear his name in this episode and he really gets himself into trouble because he can't back off. In the end he does get his name cleared but Grissom also tells him that he has to leave for a while or he's fired. Someone on the inside calls the mob guy and tells him that Warrick is out and that all is going to plan. Nick and Catherine work a dog and murder case. The lady murdered helps in dog fighting. She is murdered and it all comes out how bad of a woman she is even though she just won a humane award. It was very interesting. Especially since dog fighting has been in the media lately.

After all these years CSI finally found a topic that was a little too much for me. Being an animal lover, the dog fight and dog torture scenes were almost too graphic. Thank goodness CSI saved the episode by having the PSA at the end which I really appreciated.

I was extremely disappointed in the continuation of the Warrick storyline. I just don't have enough interest to see this being carried out for yet another episode. The writers should have closed it up in this episode. I love Warrick getting more screen time but the story is being over played. The more time for Warrick I need is him and Nick re-establishing their relationship as buddies and having Nick help him through these times. We all saw how much Warrick cares for Nick in "Grave Danger" and it is time for Nick to return the favor.
  • Warrick's troubles are growing!

The show has gotten back to basics and that they are going to where they have been famous for. As we see that the Michael Vick thing of illegal dogfighting is taking it up a notch. Knowing that it is illegal and like it did Vick in, it does do you in. As killing a dog is like killing a person though not in the same league about. Warrick is in enough trouble as he is the prime suspect of a stripper and that Gil won't let him back on the job after he must decide whether to be fired or suspended. As Gil is forced to have Warrick face the facts. Can't wait for more next year!

The story in this episode really hit home to me. I volunteer at an animal shelter a lot and I know a lot about illegal dog fighting. I love how CSI did a political episode basically bashing dog fighting. However, I didn't like how they made the shelter look bad. It's bad enough that people have terrible steryotypes about animal shelters just to add more. Anyways, I really liked the story in this episode. A lady was killed and it was linked to dog fighting. It turned out that she was a dog fighter using the animal shelter's dogs to fight. One of the workers at the shelter killed her for what she was doing to the dogs. Honesltly, I cheered for him. She deserved what she got. I hate dog fighting and I see the results of it all of the time. CSI did a good job of creating an episode to publisize the problem. The main part of this episode I didn't like was Warrick. His story line is annoying. Overall, though, good episode.
  • Some scenes were difficult to watch, but needed to be told.

It's hard for me to use the words 'enjoyed watching' while reviewing this episode since one of the stories was about dogfighting. I'm a big animal lover--so it was very difficult to watch the cruelty to the dogs. It was good to see that the woman got what she deserved. Now that part wasn't difficult to watch at all. I'm glad that they had this storyline about dogfighting. To educate the public on how horrific it is--and that it just isn't a couple of pitbulls fighting. Maybe laws will change after this episode--it did after the 'can-hunting' episode. For the Warrick arc--that was nicely done. Grissom was good at being a boss and suspending Warrick: for him to cool off and not to get in anymore trouble. It will be exciting to see how they play the whole dirty cop storyline. I would have given this episode a perfect 10, but because Sara wasn't in it and wasn't mentioned I deducted 0.5 points.
  • Very good, but very sad episode.

I thought this episode was very good. I was glad to see Warrick cleared in the murder of the dancer, although I knew all along he didn't kill her. I was a little disappointed however with the fact that they let us know in the very beginning that he had been cleared, I thought they could have made it more dramatic and waited till the very end of the episode to determine if he did it or not, like they did in the episode "Boom" when Nick was accused of killing the prositute. I can't wait to see who the insided job is. The other case with the dog fighting was very sad and it made me cry. However, even though it was sad I believe they did not cross the line, like some people believe and that it needed to be shown, to make people realize how cruel and heartless dog fighting really is, maybe this will discourage people from participating in this horrible act because it will show people that there are consequences for doing it. Overall, great episode.

Great episode and a rare accomplishment both stories were done well. Warricks frame up ended perfectly with him being found innocent of course and Warrick due to his constant interference he was suspended. We now have a nemesis in the person of the mob boss and we know he has someone on the police force working for him. The other case was done just as well dealing with the dogfighting issue without it sounding tacked on like most post Vick dogfighting stories. Really surprising seeing the wife a corn pone dog fighting monster. Her end as her killer said was bittersweet since thanks to her poisoning she was sparred the mauling. Good job CSI was in rare form this week.
  • Again I say tell me why Warrick and Catherine are good together! He's to irresponsible. I know he didn't murder that girl, but he wont listen to reason and it's going to if it isn't jeopardizing his job. He's lucky if he doesn't get fired.

He's lucky if he doesn't get fired.Though it's starting to look like someone's setting him up. Someone who's on the inside connected to that sleazy old club owner.I really hope they clear Warrick but, even if they do he's job will still be jeopradized because of his dependance on the upers and downers. Is it just me or did anyone see Catherine torn up about it NO! Maybe she's finally over him. Did you guy's see how worried about Nick Catherine was about in boom. I rest my case! Yay C-A-T-N-I-P!

I do have some vice-versa feelings with this episode. The last episode really promised something big and much character development but that storyline was so quickly dropped and the storyline they concentrated - dog fighting. It was far from being the best storyline they have had. It was not catching and hardly had something interesting. It was so visible from the start that the husband was somehow connected to it and let it happened and then started to play "oo I care so much". In my opinion, they had some catching moments but the story was so week and it was so easy to see trough it. I hoped something much better for the last episode before the little break.
  • Sad harsh cruel world of dogfighting.

    "Superb"
This show showed the very sad, sick, harsh, cruel world of dogfighting. Dogfighting is a sick and cruel form of animal cruelty, this episode shed some light into it. I just wish it had gave more information, and I wish somehow the kid (Tommy Halpert played by Mark L. Young) got off by doing the world a favor. This episode showed that most people get off, or get a slap on the wrist when it comes to animal cruelty such as this. But remember, like William Petersen says at the end of the episode, learn more about dogfighting and how to get active and stop such cruelty, aspca dot org is one site, there are others so Google dogfighting.

Warrick is a suspect in a murder of an exotic dancer. Of course we all know he didn't do it, but he needs to prove it. A fw clues are spaced out through the episode and i'm sure more will come to light next week.

Also of note, the episode revolved on the world of dog fighting (which is brutal). I don't want to give anything away but the twists and turns in this case quite frankly were better than the current Warrick story line.

My favorite moment of the show was when Grissom is quite stern with Warrick in suspending him. I like it when he plays the role of tough boss.

    A good episode.
  • Couldn't take my eyes of this episode, it flew by in what seemed like a few minutes, that to me is the mark of an good episode.

A brutal episode based on dog fighting and its pitfalls to the players and the dogs. As usual its the kid that did it, this is getting to be a recurring them on CSI and i wish they would stop it. I think the dog fighting scenes should have been toned down a bit, the show almost over played its hand on this one. I have a trained agility dog that is smarter than a lot of people i know. No one has the right to hurt defenseless animals, they are people without souls and will reap what they sow. Both animals and children have trusting spirits and that should never be violated.
  • Warrick needs to prove his innocence in the case of a dead exotic dancer. A newly awarded humanitarian is found dead, her body dumped with many dogs who have been dumped as well.

Absolutely amazing episode. The dog-fighting scenes made my stomach curl, I almost cried. It was one of the best episodes so far this season - I think. Poor Warrick, he just can't catch a break, can he? His divorce, Sara left the team, now he has to prove his innocence in a case involving the mob, oye vey! This episode had many twists and turns that really threw me for a loop (especially the victim's involvement in the dog fighting and her husband's knowledge of her killer). I can't wait for the next episode to come and see what happens next!

    Part 2 of Warricks future.

Awww dead dogs, poor babies. I can stand to see dead people but dead dogs are too emotional :(

So, we are back to the annoing story of Warrick / drugs / alcool and stuff. Annoing, annoing, annoing, at least the other case saved the show.

Awwwww again, i want to adopt all those dogs !!!

And i dont think that dog fighting scene was necessary, at all, i hated to see that.

Too much Warrick, not enough Grissom, Nick and Greg so that pretty much says that the episode sucked.

I have to side with Tommy here, i would want to kill that woman too.

So the annoing story about Warrick is not over yet ????? my god !!!
  • this was a eye opener in view of recent real events. I am glad to see somebody took this up and brought it home.

This episode was excellent as far as calling attention to the cruelty inflicted on these dogs. There is no excuse for this kind of treatment. I was impressed with Gil's summation at the end - regarding the most disliked people in prison are people who hurt children and people who hurt animals. Anyone who wasn't appalled at what is considered "sport" doesn't have a heart, I am very glad that CSI takes current events and emphasizes situations that we have seen happen in a way that you can't ignore. I hope they keep up the good work, continuing to make use of current issues for public awareness. Kudos to the writers!
  • Warrick has to prove his innocence while the other CSI's delve into the dark world of illegal dogfights.

    8.0
    "Great"
This week's episode picks up right where last week left off. Warrick is found as prime suspect in the murder of a dancer that he had developed a relationship with during his investigation into a crime lord. I was not a fan of last week's episode, and this part of the storyline did little to win me over to the overall arc, which appears to be headed for future episodes. Little was resolved, other than there being an informant in the PD. That development was a bit more interesting than what went down last week.

The other case, the one involving the dog-fighting (hmmm, I wonder where the inspiration for that came from?) was the usual, well done typical CSI-type story. The suspects were introduced, the plot twisted and turned before the guilty party was reveled, and the CSI's involved had their usual witty banter and dialogue. Of special interest is the appearance of Robert David Hall's band. For a "classics" (not oldie moldies, incidently) band, they were very good, and I only wished we could have heard more from them. It was really nice to see Doc Robbins outside of the autopsy room. I also appreciate the fact that they showed dogfighting in a less than glamorous manner. There are those that will say that the producers are trying to tug at the heart strings of viewers. Well guess what, if they are, then good for them. Dog-fighting is sickening, and is illegal for a good reason. Kudos to the people of CSI for making a statement against dog-fighting.
  • Disturbing.

This episode, which was mostly centered around dogfighting, was very hard to watch, especially when shown the parts with the dogfighting itself.

Most of the country (myself included) don't fully know what goes on in these horrific sporting events. We hear stuff on the news about Michael Vick and others like him, and we shake our heads at their actions. However, to basically see first-hand (yes, I know it was TV) what the cruelty bestowed on these innocent animals is like made me cringe.

I hope that this episode of CSI discourages some from participating in this horrible sport; animals are for loving, not for making money. Furthermore, I hope it gets the message through to everyone in the country that there are animals (abused and not) who need our help everyday. Animals cannot fend for themselves and every one of them deserves a good home and a loving family.

No, I am not a representative of the SPCA. I am a 23 year old recent college graduate who just happens to live in a family that adopted a cat over 10 years ago and saved him from a cruel fate. He's still kicking and loving every minute of it.

Anyway...the dogfighting story on tonight's CSI was hard to watch (because of the animal cruelty), but the case with Warrick and the exotic dancer is intriguing, and the case is still ongoing. That case has gotten even more intriguing with the development of an informant in the police department. I can't wait for the next installment of Warrick vs. The Mob. (Higher rating given because of Warrick story)
