  • How far will someone go to win?

    8.5
This episode was all about winning and losing when a picture of a woman who appears dead is posted on the internet and Greg thinks she is dead and Nick thinks she is still alive and it turns out they are both kind of right The motives behind the murders and all the other things the 3 friends did was crazy and it was even more crazy that one of them thought to win he had to actually kill the hooker and the police would think it was the other two So I don't think he was that bothered to go to jail.moreless
  • Profound episode

    10
I really liked this one. It raises so many interesting discussions. #1 is the power of words and actions. This episode shows just how powerful "harmless pranks" and "good-natured kidding" can be. Scott was obviously bottling up all of his hatred for his friends and their constant fun-poking at him and he was waiting to snap. It proves that words and actions that people direct at others, sometimes even with good intentions, can cause damage to a person's psyche and aggravate them in ways that you wouldn't believe possible. The way that Scott's friends played on his good and gullible nature made me mad. If anyone should have died, it should have been them. They should have, being his friends, had more respect for him and his feelings than to mess with him like that and set him up to pay their way in Vegas. #2 is watching associations. Scott's friends set him up and that was dirty. But Scott shouldn't have reacted the way he did. He knew that his friends always set him up and freaked him out, so why didn't he just choose different friends, people that liked him for more than just his money or his good-natured, gullible spirit? Why not just walk away once he found out that his friends had so deviously tricked him? #3 is the question of if Hodges has a future in the field. With Catherine leaving next season, you have to wonder if the producers are looking to select Hodges as a replacement... kind of like Ray replaced Grissom in that heartbreaking season 9 episode. I don't think that Hodhges would be a very good replacement, but he did sort of pull of that dangerous bad boy thing in this one (just a little) and if he gets breakthrough time, he might be able to carry the role. #4 is the re-appearance of Vartann. This raises questions about where his relationship with Catherine is going, or if it IS going. The reason that Catherine dumped him was, in my estimation, a stupid one. The right to keep secrets from those who love and want to share life with you should not even be valid grounds for a break-up. Vartann just wanted Catherine to let him into her life so that they could be together and in the end, Catherine chose to not trust anyone fully and leave him behind in the dust, figuring that, if he loved her, he would be able to realize that she should have a right to keep secrets from him. If she continues to live life like this, she will one day wake up to notice that all oppotunities for real friendship or love have passed her by- any solid relationship is built on trust. If you can't trust the person you love, then who can you trust?moreless

this is my first review for this year, this time I have to say that this episode was one of the few episodes that I actually liked from the current season, for me, it was very entertaining even when the motive of the murder was one of the most stupid motives I have seen, I really liked the mystery about the photograph and when was it realesed, the subplot about hodges was very interesting too, I know that this episode was not brilliant but compared with other episodes from this season, it was good for me.

  • Not bad, but not really good...

    7.5
There were some aspects of this episode I liked. I liked how we saw more of the CSI guys (Nick and Greg's bet was cute). There were some good one-liners, and Hodges was great with his little motorcycle (and broken heart). But Trevor Donovan was all wrong, he was a poor actor and I think the writers hoped that we wouldn't notice that because we'd be distracted by the fact that his shirt was off. Also, I hate Ray and he needs to leave. He's BELOW most of the CSIs and he's acting like he's the ringleader. And something about his just creeps me out. Then, I found it kind of hard to believe the nerd guy killed the hooker just to prove to his friends he could. The writers keep tacking on stupid solutions to what are potentially interesting murders. Also, I felt like this show had a sort of comedic feel throughout (Trevor Donovan in a gladiator costume, Hodges and his nerdy bike gear, Carrot top in a zebra limo)and then BAM it just ended on a really somber note with Nick giving Greg the money back. It just felt kind of off to me.

I miss the old team: Nick, Warrick, Catherine, Greg, Sara and of course Grissom. It is NOT the same without them (especially Grissom) and never will be. Now that Catherine's leaving I thank God Sara is back for most of the time, otherwise I'd probably stop watching the show. CSI is just not what it used to be: clever, fast paced, with the right balance of humor and seriousness. I hope it redeems itself soon.moreless
  • The man won in the end

    8.0
Yes, he won, because he was the most stupid of the three friends. Even when I think the plot made this a filler episode, there are actually people who would act this stupid just to prove they are not. Some people just cannot lose. Ray being in few scenes was okay because it seems like no one misses him. And I mean the viewers. If he's around or not, no one notices. The fact that Catherine also has less time on screen makes me think producers are preparing us for her departure. Hodges on the field? Well, I knew this was coming because he cannot stay in the lab forever since he's shown interest in being a CSI and he's gotta be given the opportunity. I guess he did well, solved the case but he has to learn more.

I missed Sara, I loved the Nick and Greg interaction and I don't find it odd that Nick gave Greg the money back in the end. Nick is like that, he's polite and good hearted man so it was expected.

I hope Sqweegel comes back soon.moreless
