Langston (voiceover): I had a student who wanted to be published. These would have been her words:
Silvia (voiceover): I dedicate each chapter to the unsolved cold cases, LVPD has deemed related by evidence or method of killing. Hopefully, by the time I'm done, we will have a better idea as to why these serial killers got away and others did not. I intend to write in detail about the ones who did not.

Langston: You didn't hurt these woman? You didn't murder these women? You didn't murder Silvia Mallick?
Fantasma: No, I didn't. No.
Langston: Then who did? Who did?
Fantasma: It was Ochun. Ochun did it. Ochun is the god of violence and brute force. Ochun. I tried to stop him, I tried to reason with him, but Ochun would not listen. I begged him not to hurt anyone else. I went to the priest, but the priest couldn't stop Ochun. Ochun is the knife, Ochun needs sacrifice.
Langston: Ochun didn't murder Silvia Mallick, you did. No evil spirit murdered this woman, you did because she was gonna reveal you as the murderer that you are!

Langston: We're gonna give you an opportunity to make a really good decision. We need a sample of your DNA. We're investigating the murder of a young woman who was found about 3 blocks from here. Do you have any objections to that?
Man: DNA gets people in trouble if it's mishandled.
Brass: It also gets you outta trouble.

Silvia: Shouldn't you be out catching bad guys?
Langston: Shouldn't you be working on your thesis?
Silvia: That's about all I do these days. I can't believe you still come here.
Langston: Well, this place holds a certain power for me. I've killed a lot of lattes here.
Silvia (laughs): That's a very different look for you. Do you miss the suit?
Langston: I miss my students.

Hodges (about the piece of material, Silvia was found holding): Well, it's definately leather. Finely grained, and judging from the cracks, fairly old.
Wendy: You know, that actually looks sort of fringed. Maybe it's from a biker jacket.
Hodges: Mm. It could from a boot, or a purse, or a glove, or from a very small cow. (smiles)
Wendy: Probably that, yeah.
Hodges: Okay, I'm done.
Wendy: Good. (goes to swab the leather) Hodges? Why are you still standing there?
Hodges: Good question.
Wendy: Mmhmm. (Hodges walks off)
