  • At least there was witty Brass...

This episode was a huge disappointment. I wasn't expecting much from the start but it didn't even deliver an interesting case. The case bored me, I couldn't care less about anything to do with rap music.

Witty Brass was most likely the only good part of the episode. If not the Brass then when Warrick slammed the suspect into the car. Loved that part. The only thing this episode managed to do was have all the characters in the episode. There was even Bobby Dawson!!

GSR!! On the back seat!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, mouth to mouth too. I liked Sara's WTF expression. Jorja, you rock!!!!

What is up with Nick's hair? It gets worse every episode. How does hair grow that fast? He should get a hair cut before I think his sex appeal is killed forever.

  • If i was an ordinary viewer i'd probaly rate this episode lower. But i will try to rescue the little things i really like it and focus on them.

Well i start to say i'm not at all a rap fan. I think all the gang/mob stuff surrounding this world is lack of a positive influence in the comunity (it's just my opinion).

I don't know if watching this ep, left my adventurous self of knowing different ways of life, but i hardly believe the street team way of life. Did they get any payment of it? Is it worth to kill someone for a rivality banner?.

Originally thought to be some kind of turf war between rappers Hi-Def and Dollar, the mystery revolves around a video and poster made of Dollar in a bikini. Part of Dollar's street team thinks Hi-Def's crew was responsible, and they kill three kids for it. It turns out that one of Dollar's promo kids made the poster himself to get back at the rapper for a degrading video that featured his sister. I always enjoy episodes where members of the CSI gang are out of their element. Brass certainly looked a little lost now and again when listening to the slang Dollar tossed around. Dollar just wanted to pimp the boss out a little bit and make the lab guys "the freshest cops on the street." I'm pretty sure there was never a point in the captain's life when he was considered "fresh." It's not surprising a hip-hop episode showed up though, as rappers seem to love making guest appearances on crime shows these days. Ludacris showed up with Ice-T in Law & Order: SVU, and Obie Trice, Akon and Method Man were in this episode. I enjoyed it as much as last week's but three things still strike me as odd: 1) I don't like the casting of the Barker family in a rap role. Travis Barker — playing Hi-Def — just fit the stereotypical lame rapper perfectly, and I don't think they were actually going for that look. 2) On page 420 of the new book "Hip-Hop for Dummies," it says "Where Meth goes, Red will follow." It might be the first time in years that I've seen Method Man appear somewhere without his sidekick, Redman. 3) Do staples really have unique patterns that can be matched at a crime scene? I mean, I can go into my supply cabinet at work and grab 20,000 staples. Are no two staples alike? If so, I learned something new from this episode. Someone, please school me on the art of the staple.

Seriously though, if there's one thing I'm really happy about, it's that the producers had enough sense not to make one of the crime-lab guys spit some lame rap.

The few thinks i like was to watch the Warrick/Nick dinamic duo. They certanly have chemistry together.

I can even locate the rest of the team in this episode.
  • Booooooooooring

Did they run out of creative storylines? I couldn't follow this episode at all. Not that it was confusing, but it just wasn't interesting. I think the only reason I watched it in the first place was to see what Khleo Thomas looked like grown up! Travis Barker was a nice touch but still nobody could save this episode.
  • Not for plot but for the characters and little vignettes we have loved in the past on CSI.

I'm not into rap and the storyline could have been anything.

What was nice to see was the characters working together and each getting some airtime this episode.

My favourite scene was the Forensic cop/Mad Scientist stakeout and slow car chase. We have had so little Warrick/Nick interaction this year, it was a treat to see. Reminded me of their great chemistry as buddies and it's been sorely missed through much of this year despite the fact it was so heavily played in last year's finale. Well, we got to see them together again and Nick having Warrick's back.

For some reason, the investigations with Nick in the lead or in heavy involvement bring in the other characters best and have been the most entertaining to me this year. This was one of them.
  • They kinda lost me. It was iffy.

This episode had the potential to be a great episode with the street team, rapper situation. I think it kinda fell flat on its face though. They lost me after about 20 minutes of me concentrating my hardest. It certainly wasn't anything to write home about.

I don't really have much to say about this episode, it was definately not special to me. I agree with people when they say that resources are spread too thinly. I understand the need to film two at a time to get them in, but should the quality of the show be brought into question? I would rather have 100 really good episodes than 180 decent episodes. CSI is a unique show with the potential to make every episode something never to be forgotten. We live in an age where so much is at our disposal, yet the cast and crew settle for decent episodes in order to get the required amount out. To me, it was definately a filler episode that I could've done without watching. I could've gotten the details from various forums and then life would go on. C'mon TPTB, use those fantastic minds that you have and put all of your energy into producing more jaw-dropping episodes!

There is only one reason that I watched this episode from beginning to end and that is because I am crazy about CSI, that's all.

  • Well, that's 57 minutes that I'll never get back.

This episode was sooooo slow. I had such high hopes for an episode with punk cutie Travis Barker but even he was just some cliche Vanilla Ice caricature. The plot (was there one?) just went on & on & on and never got anywhere. Maybe that *is* the point: rap rivalries are pointless, and nothing is ever resolved.

Now I will refrain from rambling about how Public Enemy is the greatest rap group ever.

The approximately three minutes worth of show that I thought were worthy of my time: Warrick's exchange with Hodges, ending with "Don't make me shoot you." "Grissom- I'm pretty good at mouth-to-mouth." The bikini guy in the trunk.
  • They Lost Me at the Intro

This kind of an episode certainly reveals my age and race... I couldn\'t get into this episode to save my life. Oh yes, I sat in front of the TV watching, hoping that I would understand the story line but it was so convoluted and out of sorts that I just couldn\'t catch up or get caught up. Maybe CSI is running out of storylines. Even the main characters seemed lost in the storyline. The other distraction was Greg\'s hair. He looked like my son back in the 70\'s and 80\'s. Either that or he hasn\'t had time to see a barber of late. When it was over I wondered what it was all about. I think CSI reached out to another culture and I was lost along the way. Maybe the next episode will make up for this mess.
  • The sharks are circling...

I don't understand why this episode was so heavily promoted. I completely lost interest 5 minutes in. I spent the hour letting my mind wander. Honestly all I can tell you is that there is a video from some rapper for this ep and that Jim gets a suit that he sends to the salvation army. Was there even a case? I don't remember. I do recall some dude in a bikini (you would think that would grab my attention but nope). I do remember Warrick and Nick from the promos but I don't really recall seeing them in the episode. A seriously unmemorable episode.

Look around you people. The sharks are circling and closing in.
  • "I'm pretty good at mouth to mouth."

    "Superb"
This episode was great, it could have been better but I still liked it.

This time we go into the world of rappers, when 3 teenagers are found shot in the street & one of them up on a telephone poll.

It was pretty funny when Dollar was found gagged in the trunk of his car (inside a trunk) wearing a Bikinni & when he saw all the people around him hid back in there. I agree with Brass, you can't blame him. lol.

The best part of this episode of course, was the GSR. Yep, there was GSR this time. Grissom was actually flirting with Sara. "I'm pretty good at mouth to mouth." Ok, now I demand proof a demonstration even! When are we gonna get it. lol.

BTW: I love Nick's hair, hate the sideburns. though.
  • it was cool

This episode was really cool. Loved it. It took a look behind the rap scene with the rap wars. one of the raper's people were killed putting up posters to promote the rapper. The rapper himself was forced to be in a video after he paid the guy's sister to be in a similar video of her jumping on a bed with limited clothing. The rapper was funny when they found him in the box when they said they would take him to the hospital for medical attention. The mother of one of the girls that died was also funny. The girl worked on rapper, Hi Def's promotion team trying to become a rap singer herself. the mother said to send the ashes to Hi Def and they did. That showed him.
  • There were so many other things I *could* have been doing...

    4.5
    "Poor"
I have to say, this episode left me thinking that I had just spent forty-five minutes watching tv that I could have been doing something more rewarding. There was no character advancement, in fact a couple of steps back as Catherine was barely there and Sara only slightly more so. That in itself is not a great loss, as I'm not a really big fan of Jorja Fox (couldn't they spell Georgia?) but it does leave a hole in the show - it is an ensemble show, and it works best when all the characters are contributing.

I was also very aware of the lack of a secondary storyline - the main plot was just not compelling enough to hold the entire show together. The rap music scene is not my thing in any way, shape or form, so perhaps that lent to my lack of involvement in this episode, but the writer's have put together thinner stories and had me much more engrossed before and I'm fairly certain that it's because if I'm not sucked in by the main plot, I'm captured by the secondary storyline.

On a positive note, it is nice to see Nick getting more screen time, as he's quite nice to look at (minus the seventies hair, that is). I'm a little disappointed, though - my local network that carries CSI has these promos using the stars of the shows airing at that time and George Eads looks just great with the short haircut he sports in those spots, so I keep hoping he'll go back to that style - looks so much better than the longer hair. I know, I know, picky picky...
  • Posters that cause death: May have been done before.

    8.0
    "Great"
A wee bit similar to the episode of CSI NY that aired this season about someone getting killed for putting up posters. However, the writers here managed to take the plot in a direction that went past competing artists.

Although I do love cases that feature Nick (especially after the moustache disappeared), I think that these episodes really feel different without the whole team each pulling their weight. It's really noticeable when characters show up in only one scene, or, like in the last episode, not at all.
  • Nothing good but nothing bad Just decent

This was not a good show

As we have seen this before

Kind of like the cops vs the feds

    For turfwars

    As well as gangs

But now we have rap artists at war

And they do the guns and stuff thing

Something that we have seen over and over

Ain't the first time nor it ain't the last time

I guess that is just life my friends

Good CSI cast and acting holds the script together IMO!
  • A decent episode.

    "Superb"
This was a decent episode, but not one of the best this year. At least everyone was in this episode this time. The idea is not new. The world of rap stars is filled with this type of violence. It was well acted by the rappers however. Some good one liners.
  • At least for me.Our posters were amongst the ones on the show

Just seeing if anyone noticed the redloweyes, classic,& the head of state I.E. to the bay poster @ the end of the episode more info on myspace/ mheheadofstate or trak.to/mhe . That episode is true to how dangerous it is to be on a street team. I know someone who was killed in South Central putting up posters no joke.
  • What was the point? Totally disappointing. Nothing happpened that was not entirely predictable from the opening scene. I look forward to CSI all week and now my week is shot.

    "Mediocre"
I couldn't believe this. It is bad enough that for the second week Jorja Fox is gone, Catherine seen in only one scene. What do they have against women after all? Then rappers in Las Vegas, humiliating and killing one another. Where were the twists they always have? Not there. Where was the suspense that is always present? Not there. Where is the old CSI? When they list the "jump the shark" moment, this will be the one they cite, believe you me.
  • So, rap rivals in Vegas have a shootout...

    9.1
    "Superb"
A very entertaining episode. I was slightly on the edge of my seat the whole time. Poor Dollar :) Dudes Gone Nutz -laughs-

And there was subtle GSR. Grissom: I'm pretty good at mouth-to-mouth. Ahh......brings me back to the good ol' days. :)

Still, a really great episode that is showing the viewers exactly why CSI is the number one show!!!
  • Proof shot 2 days before CSI airs....talk about irony

    "Perfect"
That is kinda weird for me that a rapper is gunned down and then two days later a show airs about rappers getting gunned down. I know there is no connection whatsoever, but its still kinda ironic. I am pumped for this episode though. I love it when they bring in guest stars and this week with all the people in this show, it is gonna be really cool. The series is heating up though and I can\'t imagine how they can improve on the finale from last season, but it is really exciting. Each week though, they get better and it is leading towards something big.
