  • I really like this episode...

I like the choice of music for the episode really the music that's used to open Room Service and close the episode. The split screen for some scenes was pretty neat too. I think it is so sad that the movie star chose something that could and did end up killing him for some pleasure. It showed that you can have everything and lose it all through death and also that you can have nothing and lose your life because you wanted something material. Really, I take it as it doesn't matter who you are you could still die (movie star or not). The song for the opening and closing gave it the sad spin. You have these two completely different people and look the same thing happened (they both died). Yeah, one was murder and the other well, seemingly accidental death though it almost seems closer to suicide but still...Yeah, I think that's all I got for this episode. It's a good episode.
  • Great intro.

The one thing that I really loved about this episode was the intro sequence. The combination of the images with the song "Mad World" was just perfect. It shows us that no matter if you are rich or poor, death will come to you either way in this mad world.

Great detail with the sweat on Viproxay's and the cab driver's face driving in a beat up cab; while on the other hand, everything was pristine and classy inside the limo. I felt sorry for the cab driver who was just collateral damage. Like I said, the combination with the music and the divided screen made the intro of this episode one of the best I have ever seen.
  • "The next Brad Pitt" is found dead in his hotel room, posed on his bed as if he were about to fo a photo shoot. In a separate case, three Laotians are murdered within a day and a night.

Julian Harper, an up-and-coming movie star, is found dead in his bed: COD was asphyxiation. In the end we find out that he strangled himself to death to increase his pleasure. This case was good, and fairly well written. The B case, involving three dead Laotians, was a bit confusing for me. I couldn't quite figure out what was happpening. I should've put this earlier, but the intro and the beginning of the episode (different POVs of the two crime scenes) was really special and an excellent way to start this episode off. Overall, great but again, I couldn't make sense of the B case.
  • oh i love eric winters, the guy that played the movies star, i loved him in days of our lives as he played rex. i think he is mcsteamy! very hot! it was a lovely episode, stayed glued to the tv till the end.

so the black csi guy, is he or is he not married? he gets a weird look everytime his marriage is mentioned, so is there something fishy going on there. the guy interpreting in the interrogation room, how stupid was he to take the pd on trust, talk about honour killing, cos your bro prefers gambling and cds to helping the family in the old country now that was tight. all in all it was a must watch episode and cant wait for the next one.
  • Great start of the season.

Nick and Warrick take a case with a moviestar who was found dead in his room and Catherine, Gil and Sara try to solve a case with three dead men found in the same street.

the directors tried something new and used a split screen to see the prologue of both cases. the split screen is further seen several more times during the episode. not annoying, but also didn't add anything to this episode.

eventually the death of the movie star was an accident. allthough I'm still a bit confused about how they came to the conclusion without aksing around a bit more. in my opinion it could have easily been set-up.

the deaths of the three men in the street were the results of a quarrel between two brothers.

overall it's a good episode with a nice plot to it.
  • This season looks like it's going to be one of the best so far.

What a fabulous episode! This season looks like it's going to be one of the best so far.

A famous movie star & a couple of Asian guys get murdered . The cases were very interesting & I loved the idea of the split screen . Kind of 24-ish . Very different.

The thing I loved most about this episode was the end after the crimes were solved at the morgue when both bodies - the famous rich movie star & the poor Asian guy were wheeled next to each other having 1 , no , 2 things in common, both of them dead & the name tags on thier toes, finally making them equals in death.
  • Some character development, nothing major.

I liked this episode some good character development good crimes, but nothing fancy. Okay except maybe the split screen, not too sure I liked that. That is just way to much going on for me. I like seeing the team working together. I speculate we will see some development coming out of Nick.

Overall a good episode your typical run of the mill episode, in my opinion. Good writing, acting and directing keeps this viewer coming back. Waiting for next week…

  • Although the cases themselves were nothing spectacular, once again I am reminded why I have high expectations for this show.

The stories in this show were simple; an up-and-coming movie star is found dead in his hotel room, and a cab driver is found shot in his wrecked vehicle near the bullet-riddled body of a Laotian immigrant. The former story has been done before, and bore a subtle resemblance to "The Accused is Entitled" from season three. The outcome, however was much different, and a nice change from the usual "girlfriend did it" scenario.

The split-screen technique was something new and unexpected, as was the music played at either end of the episode. The slow music gave this show a very sobmer feel unlike the up-tempo partying feel of other episodes.

Living in Thailand and fluent in Thai, I also could understand most of the Lao that was spoken between the suspect and interperters... another reminder that although some of the technology used in the show is very far-fetched, the writing team does a good job to ensure accuracy and believability on every level of the show.

All in all, I give this episode a very high rating, if for nothing more than originality, and their subtle play on emotions with the music.
  • Great ep, not something I'd like all the time but a nice change.

I liked this episode, I really liked the Nick/Warrick banter, it throws back to the beginning of the series. I did like the split-screen thing, not something I'd like to see in every episode but as a one-time thing I think it was pretty cool. And I loved the song they played at the beginning and the end, it was a great change from the usual 'rock and roll' type. A pretty good episode.
  • What's with the split screen?

    8.5
    "Great"
The whole split-screen confused me at first, but as I got used to it, I admired the editor's originality and creativity. It was a much more convenient and time-saving way to present the two cases at once. I don't expect them to ever do this again, however, because such a technique can only be counted as "original" once.

All in all, not a very 'shippy' episode, nor did I find the cases particularly interesting. The Cath/Grissom case just made my head hurt with all the twists and turns--though I have to say, I never did think the business owner guy "did it." Turns out I was actually right this time! The Nick/Warrick case had a good twist at the end, but they never explained his motive for 'suicide' and I'm not buying the "strangled self for own pleasure" bit, but whatever. The writers really need to pick up the pace. These scripts are putting me to sleep--I don't blame Hodges for falling asleep on the job.
  • Nothing special to see here, just your average CSI episode.

    7.0
    "Good"
I know the CSI's are not known for their big multi-episode spanning stories, but I wonder why they at least aren't trying to make single episodes more interesting. And I also wonder why so little is mentioned of the previous season, especially Nick's abduction.

So, in this episode Gil and Katherine again join forces as their cases appear to be related. Nick and Warrick are investigating an apparent OD-sex strangling related murder. What's with the split screen? Are we, in season six, again to be reminded that death happens to everyone, whether your rich and famous or poor and unknown?

Maybe it's because there have been more a hundred episodes, so new and fresh ideas are hard to find, but then again, these writers are highly paid, I presume, so I expect them to be creative. Maybe small story-arches wouldn't be such a bad idea.
  • The second episode of the season was well executed. An all round good CSI episode.

A movie star is found dead in his hotel suite and some Laosians meets the end of their road. Boring? Think again. This was a good episode all in all.

Gil's and Catherine's cases lead to a connected incident and they end up working together. Interesting way to bring the two together for this episode. I cab driver is found dead in his car slightly further down the actual crime scene while a Laosian is found dead on the road. Incidentally another Laosian is found dwelling in the building facing the spot where the dead guy was found. Gil and Catherine soon cracks the case.

Nick and Warrick gets the case for the dead movie star who apparently [spoiler alert] strangled himself trying to enhance his sexual pleasure. They have done the odd celebrity death investigations in CSI before but this one just led to dead ends for a while until they found out that the movie star was a idiotiv perv.

There was a role of Paul Dillon (Angelo - The Pretender). It was nice to see him once again. Greg is being very irregular in the show in season 5. Hope to see a lot more of him.
  • A murder of a movie star and a couple of asians. the team investigates and crosses paths more then once

I wasnt to impressed with this episode. Prior to watching it i was allready guessing they wouldnt pick up on the Nick abduction case ( Where the last episode ended)Grisom will figure it out some other time then... haha Anyways, this one was a little too familiar structured to my taste. Nothing spectacular and the movie star plot was a lil too cool for school: the self strangulation... if you want to explore such a subject do it a lil better. it was too hasty, but perhaps the network notes were a lil critical. After doing a whole show on a guy who is fixated on being treated like a baby, the obscure sex preferences may be a little hard to swallow by now... hehe. I didnt care much for the supporting cast in the movie plot either, but that could be the writing. it was like Entourage meets nancy drew... The asian story was more satisfying out of the two.

final comment: the show seemd to rushed at the ending, like they needed 5 more minutes of exploration, but had to cram it in.
