  • Grissom takes on his former mentor in the case of a murdered mother.

    3.0
    "Bad"
The storyline of grissom vs mentor was a good one, but the episode had other problems. Although I'm a protestant myself, the Catholic group had every right to be outraged at the portrayal of pro-life people. And it's especially disturbing that someone can rationalize that the murder of an unborn child is somehow different than the people shot or stabbed on the streets. People like the Catherine character would do well to see this and get as outraged by the senseless slaughter of the unborn as they do by cases involving born children. Really, it's total hypocracy to be sickened and outraged by the abuse of children already born but then say it's okay to kill another child simply because it's not out of the womb yet. Children are children and human life is human life, period. The writers should be ashamed of themselves.
  • Not a bad episode.

OK. This episode is not very good, and not very bad. It's average. In the beginning of this episode, we saw many sperms flowing into an egg, and then a baby is formed. Weird, very weird. Then later on, a mother is found dead. Even weird. Just another weird episode with weird plot and weird character. The scientist Grissom's with, is totally weird, and the funny thing is, I don't know why. A fine episode, not the best in this series but considered good due to Grissom's court case. Love it. Josh Berman, the writer of this episode, has done a very good job to this episode and I love it.
  • A mother was found dead while her baby was there.

So this is not my favorite episode but its still pretty good. This girl had a baby that wasnt hers it was someone elses. See that is whats stupid to me the whole sunflower thing was bull crap! But they get put in many different directions of who it would. First they thought hey its her EX nope it wasnt. Then they thought hey maybe the real mom wants her baby back. NOPE your looking at the mamas mama! yep the babys grandma. She just wanted her daughter to have her baby back which is bull because that other girl had to go through all the pain and fatness so that is what i thought was stupid!
  • Secrets and flies

    9.1

A woman turns up dead with her infant and they find out that the infant was NOT her biological child. The infant was given away at young while she was still an embryo. Flies were in the womans body. Believed that biological mother's mom killed her because the evidence points to her. Blood splatter is on her shirt. Gun powder residue on the bio mother's shirt is from someone close not her, believed to be her mother. Her red pen that wrote the suspected "suicide" note was the mother's. And mother forced the woman to write the note before she shot her.
  • Grissom, the entomologist.

This episode is a typical solid CSI episode. It has all the elements that make me watch this series, even though the baby storyline was a bit predictable (I mean the whodunnit part).

The first murder shows a mother being shot and her baby left in the play pen. At first glance, one may suppose that it was suicide but at second glance it turns out that it wasn't. This storyline is twisted with surprises, even though in the end it is easy to figure out who did it.

The second storyline shows why Grissom is such an insect geek. A case is brought to court again because the defense supposedly has got 'new' evidence. A tape showing that insects need 15 days in order to breed. Grissom, however, knows his bugs and eventually finds a way to convict the suspect.
  • A average episode, nothing much happened.

A average episode, nothing much happened but all shows are bound to have a few episodes like that. Bit of a basic one.

I love the character Catherine and love any episode that she is in. I love her way of investigating the cases.

You can never deny the strength of a grandmothers love and this case proves that.

Grissom definatley knows his bugs and I love that about his character, it makes him unique. He seems to have no trouble with working under pressure either with such a short amount of time to work with he too it all in his stride.
  • Solid Episode.

So far, this season has been hit or miss. This one was a hit for me. The whole surrogate mother thing was kind of weird, and I still don't think I full understood it, but I liked the episode. The nonchalant talk from the mother/murderer was kind of creepy.

Grissom proves he's smarter than everyone again, and makes it clear he doesn't want a promotion. He's such a complex character and I love it.
  • Well now we know for sure that Grissom knows his bugs.

Secrets & Flies wasn't as amazing as Gum Drops, but it was a great episode.

Well now we know for sure that Grissom knows his bugs.

It's the first time I see Ecklie being nice to Grissom for a change, and only because he really needed him.

The scene when Sofia comes looking for grissom & the look Sara gives her ... classic! Also Warrick, a married man now, flirting with Catherine, nice.

We also find out that Catherine considered an abortion when she was pregnant.

The best part in this episode was when the entemologist got arrested for purjury & obstruction of justice. Never mess with Gil Grissom!

And turning down a possible promotion (very Grissom).

  • the defense attorney is trying to get off his client. he is saying it takes 15 days for flies to finish laying maggots inside a person and has a tape with a pig to prove it. grissom says it takes 11 days. he has to prove that something is wrong.

defense against grissom and we have to find out why it took 15 days for maggots to infest a pig and usually it only takes 11. well we find out that the forensic expert the defense has soaked the pig in some sort of liquid that slows the flys laying down. in the end the forensic expert is getting arrested for doing this.
  • Did not hold my interest.

This particular episode did not hold my interest due to the fact that it is fairly common in idea--it lacked originality. How many times can a movie be remade without losing its sustance? The same applies to this idea for the episode. I am employed within the human service/health care field, maybe I needed something not related to work too. My husband and mother-in-law thought it was very good.
  • Grissom the bug-man wins again!

I really enjoyed this episode. It was as exciting as many as per se, but educational and fun. Grissom gets called in to refute another entomologist's testimony in court. Grissom proves his video evidence of blow fly appearnace was bad science. That this guy went out of his way to "cheat" We learn some about more strange people like the Sunflower group. A religious group whom goes around impregnanting virgins with left over fertilized eggs used in fertilization techniques for couples. We also are show again why Grissom isn't the greatest person to hold responsibilities such as politics and paper work. He once again is late with personell evaluations.
  • Either I am getting the 6th sense or the writers have given up

From the moment the Gran was introduced we knew she was guilty and the whole bug side story - we knew that somehow he had done something to the flies/pig to make them act differently - but why would the lab keep the flies/pig after the experiment?? Plus no Nick... Although Bratac from Stargate was a good introduction - hopefully a few more cameos..
  • Oh sure, the Sheriff and Eckley like Grisson when they need him for something.

I thought that the Sheriff and Eckley did not like Grissom? But now when they need help all of a sudden they are all like oh hey Grissom, you are the best. What a great reference to real life.

Two cases happening at a time and both were interesting. The young woman with the baby, how could that grandma do that in front of that baby? At least he is two young to realize what he seen.

The case with Grissom, I am pretty sure that no one wants to go toe-to-toe with Grissom. He knows his bugs. And if nothing else I got a lot of pleasure watching the other guy squirm in his seat. And it was also great to watch Eckley and the Sheriff see Grissom at work. I am pretty sure that Grissom should have Eckley’s job, but I am also just as sure he would not want it.

    Great episode keep them coming.

  • A little weird, but still another great episode.

How much stranger is this. First you have a lady who had never had sex; who gives birth, then you have Eckley asking Grissom to help with his friends case. What's up with Eckley being so nice. Grissom did his thing and saved the day and we found out the was impregnated with leftovers and the biological mother's mother is the one who killed the girl. Cant forget Warrick "flirting" with Catherine and Hodges reminding him he is married. Did you see the look Warrick gave Catherine? Get rid of the wife.
  • I was surprised that CBS allows such candid talk of abortion and sex. Especially in light of ABC's disallowing a character on "Grey's Anatomy" to go through with an abortion, opting instead for her to have had a miscarriage.

I was surprised that CBS allows such candid talk of abortion and sex. Especially in light of ABC's dissallowing a character on "Grey's Anatomy" to go through with an abortion, optin instead for her to have had a miscarriage. Catherine's opinion of the "Sunflower Organization" is crystal clear and she comes out specificially to say that she is pro-choice. She listens to the woman's explaination of the mission of the Sunflower Organization with blatant disbelief and indignation. She and Grisson banter at the end of the episode about the scientific analysis of abortion, ending with Catherine's affirmation that there was no reasoning with the woman from the Sunflower Organization and Grissom's endless knowledge of quotes and facts allowing her a good rebuttal to the woman at the organization. I was thrilled that CBS allowed candid and un-religiously-biased discussion of abortion.

A woman who has never had relations has a child. How is this possible? The answer does not come from a TLC documentary, but from our beloved CSI. Apparently, test tube is the way to go. The particpants in this storyline were all women. There was a female vic, her sister, the egg donor, and the egg donor's mother. There was enough suspicion to pass around, but I can't help but think this was just a fun way to run with an outrageous storyline. Grissom's part of the game was to one up a shift bug doc. Nick was all but absent from the proceeding, but he got his chance with the previous episode.
  • This was all part of the writers plan to get us more excited for next weeks episode.

Nothing was happening in the world of CSI this week. The A plot was kind of out there but you knew there would be a logical explanation for it all and the moment you saw the mother you knew she did it. The only good part of the A plot was Hodges telling Warrick not to flirt with Catherine and when Sara gave Sofia a look when she arrived at the crime scene.

Grissom's own little plot he had was much more enjoyable. Glad when they arrested the entomologist at the end. All I can say is he had that coming. The best part of Grissom's storyline was (besides Grissom in a suit looking quite stylish) was when Archie was there in a red shirt. He was looking so hot. I don't think we've seen Archie that hot ever. Anyway next week promises to be a good one so I'm looking forward to it.

  • Hurray, Grissom! It's always great to see the master at work!

This could have been called "The Dueling Bugmen". It's always great to see Grissom work a case. When Grissom is asked to refute testimony by an "expert witness" he is once again in his element. He is very methodical in reviewing the evidence, which is a tape the expert witness produced to prove the date of death of the murdered victim. When the tape seems to be irrefutable, Grissom goes to the source. Analyzing the flies prove the results of the tape were falsified by spraying the pig carcass with bug spray. You can almost see the wheels turning in his head as he figures out the solution! I love it!

Of course the other case of the 28-year-old mother whose body was found by her sister was interesting, too. Catherine noticed right away that there was no blood on the dead woman's hand, so she couldn't have killed herself. I found it uncomfortable that she was killed in front of her baby, and that the baby had to see the dead body for hours. That was a clue right from the start that she didn't kill herself. If she loved her baby, she wouldn't have subjected the baby to that. The "suicide note" was also a clue. Why would she block print the note and then sign in cursive? The biological grandmother of the baby turned out to be the killer, and a rather heartless one at that.

There were a couple of strange details. Why would a woman go through a procedure to carry an embryo without talking to her boyfriend or family for advice or support? Why would the biological grandmother kill the only mother her grandchild has known, right in front of the child? Didn't she think that would be traumatic to the child? Other than these odd details, this was a great episode.

  • Bugman Smackdown!

How much fun was it to watch our beloved Bugman in court?!?! I was literally on the edge of my seat, hoping that Grissom would come out on top. He is always being hurt professionally because of his refusal to play politics, and this time he was rewarded on his merits as a scientist.

The other story was interesting, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one who had it figured out as soon as they went to the bio mom's house.

Lastly, did we *really* need the frivolous Spork scene? OH... that's right... *ALL* Spork scenes are frivilous & unneeded.
