  • The 11th Season Begins Where The Team Is Concerned For Langston After He Is Stabbed By Serial Killer Nate Haskell And A Bombing Occurs At A Police Funeral.

What a great way to start this season! The episode continues from the end of season 10. Langston is stabbed by Haskell at the crime lab. Nick is at the funeral of officer Clark, who was shot by Dr. Jekyll. Nick is asked to leave. I think that in the part where he is inside his car was just terrific! The bombing scene was really cool. I liked also when he yelled to the people about the second bomb. This episode features Justin Bieber. Some people may like his music, but his acting is really boring. Jorja Fox is finally a part of the regular team. A really great way to start the season.
  • I cant believe all you supposed CSI fans are rating this episode worse than the dreadful 200th episode effectively because of Bieber

I cannot comprehend how low a viewer response this episode has. It picked up brilliantly from the last season's finale with Ray in serious danger after being stabbed a million times by that psycho. I liked the funeral angle they played after seeing Ray looking rather worse for wear. But then the explosions kicked in and which genuinely shocked me.

Glad to see Sara back full time but an explanation please because none of the circumstances have really changed for the better. Even worse, she is now away form her husband! Nick's storyline is very interesting and would love to see how this pans out. Catherine's words of wisdom was touching and Dr Al and Dr Ray's hospital scene was brilliantly acted and directed. Both storylines add another dimension to the characters who we are used to seeing as almost untouchable in regular episodes. Right now onto the not-so-good parts. Bieber's presence was unnecessary and I was very aware of his acting which is never a good sign but at times David Caruso of CSI Miami is worse so cant really complain. He didnt ruin the episode for me so its unbelievable at how he is being treated. Having said that, the ending was very cringe-worthy with Biebs trying his best at a devilish smile. Are we really supposed to believe he is some sort of criminal genius? C'mon writers. And for that reason, the casting was wrong but the episode was still brilliant.

I don't see why everyone is hating on this episode just because Justin Beiber was in it. That doesn't make it bad. I actually thought that he did a fair job of being a troubled teen with a grudge. it was a prety good mystery and the ending was a heck of a cliff-hanger. JUst because you don't like Beiber music doesn't make his acting terrible. Even so, he's learning and this was his acting debut. I'm sure Tom Cruise or Robert Pattinson weren't what everyone would consider to be fabulous when they started out. They turned out great. Just give it a chance.

I'm a big fan of CSI but... There were few things really annoying in this episode. First of all would it be too hard for the team to figure out why there were three bombs without Langston's help? Since Langston joined the crime lab all the other characters are shown as completely dumb. Catherine from first season would have no problem with this case and she would never ever asked for help from colleague who is in a hospital bed. Next thing is the young guest star. Justin Bieber doesn't do much in this episode and he will probably be back in the next one. I don't know him - maybe he is a good singer - but as an actor he isn't very convincing. Finally, I'm glad that Jorja Fox is back as a regular but will we get a good explanation why she isn't with her husband? She left Las Vegas because she couldn't stand the city anymore and now she is back full time like nothing happened? The new bomb tech Kacey Monahan seems very dedicated to her job and is fun to watch. I hope that this season will be better than the first episode.
  • The eleventh season begins with Dr. Ray Langston recovering after being stabbed by Nate Haskell. Elsewhere the CSI's investigate a deadly bombing at the funeral of a slain police officer.

One good thing about this episode is that Jorja Fox appears to be back for good since she is now featured in the opening credits. Sadly there aren't many more good things to say about this episode. The regular cast is, as usual, in top form. However the character of Nate Haskell is getting old. I hope his days are numbered. Other liabilities are the tired cliche of the organization which claims they are at war with the government and Justin Beiber. I didn't buy his character for one second. His acting is one demensional and just plain boring. Disappointment.
  • Not a good start to season 11.

    No Spoilers.

This episode aired in Australia last night 22/10/10. The network that airs CSI here is nototious for moving shows around at will, showing episodes out of order, cancelling shows then burying them at ridiculous times late at night. Now they have decided to move CSI to Thursdays, but I have no idea why. The finale of Season 10 only aired a few weeks back in its more traditional Sunday 8:30pm slot and it rated well - as always.

With that fine finale in the back of my mind i was really looking forward to this episode. Until it became a Beiberthon. I bloody hate the kid, but I tried to keep an open mind about it while watching. Well, I tried. This was a pretty poor episode by CSI Vegas standards. In other words, it would be a good episode for CSI Miami because that show is usually sh!t. The usual main cast were excellent, but the plot was very dull, cliched and had absoloutely no tension at all. It should have had all of this, as it starts out with great tragedy and last seasons cliffhanger was great...but it is all downhill from there. Further, the addition of the actress who played english demolitions expert was a really poor choice, she was terrible and tended to grate my nerves. Beiber was also terrible, if i was supposed to believe that he was a some kind of criminal mastermind...well I didn't buy it. I would have bought it if he was cast as a inexplicably popular yet talentless, egotistical little snot who gets killed or stalked by a crazed fan. Worst of all, they have set it up so he may make a return in the future. Christ I hope not! How a kid who can't sing, dance or act gets a gig on one of the best shows ever to grace the screen is beyond me. When i buy this seasons DVD set, I will definitely be skipping this episode. I do not reccommend it to anyone.

This episode fluctuated between relatively gripping, and incredibly cliched and annoying.

The funeral scenes were well done, intense and good. But it was all downhill from there.

Langston's sudden expertise in bomb making really came out of left field. And Catherine suddenly deferring to him did not sit right at all. Justin Bieber's presence was vaguely ridiculous. He might be 16/17, but he comes across as much younger, and he didn't seem an even vaguely credible threat. He declaimed his lines with all the painful precision of a teenage understudy fumbling his way through his first school play.

The whole thing did not hang together particularly well.

I hope the season gets better. The original CSI should not be remembered on such a poor opener.
  • Oh my God, this episode was...

This episode was mediocre, i love CSI since it started, i love it, i still saw CSI, although i stay in other country, because i'm from Colombia, and here i watch the Monday at 9:00 pm CSI on AXN. I really don't like Justin Bieber, i don't like him music, but, i really don't think that he was in this episode. This is the most terrible episode i saw, this is one of the worse, i think it was emotional the when Nick was in the funeral, and when Langston was against the wall. But when he appeared, everything screw up.

The writers must write something new, because, like the show is going, i think it's going to be the least watched, and i don't like it, it's very interesting, and i love, but please, i hope that he won't appear again.
  • Not the best. Not the worst... When it comes to this episode, the world seems divided!

I am firmly in defense of this episode. When I look at the good bits and the bad bits, there are definitely more good...

The Good - The funeral/bomb scene that opened the episode was great: typical CSI and very well done. I liked the fact that when you think the case is closed, it's not. I like that they haven't just ignored that Nick got shot at the end of season 10 (as some shows have done in the past) and have carried that over into this season; in physical, emotional and psychological aspects of his character. I like that there is a possibility of a further development of the bomber story somewhere in this season and I enjoyed the tiny scene between Al and Ray in the hospital; touching.

The Bad - I agree that Justin Bieber is not the best actor, but I will stand up in the poor guy's defense! I have witnessed worse acting, some of it from so-called 'professionals', and his acting certainly didn't ruin the episode at all! I thought he did OK. (And, just to clarify, I'm a grown woman and I didn't write that because I'm obsessed with him - I don't own any of his music). Not great, granted, but OK. My other issue with this episode is that I continued to feel miffed at Langston's contributions. When he came on board he'd never been a CSI; he was a doctor and a lecturer on criminal behaviour. Yet the show's writers keep writing him in almost as a boss to the other CSIs, with his sudden knowledge of bombs and a plethora of other subjects! He's the new guy... so why does he seem to have authority over Nick, Greg, Sara and even Catherine?! I feel like he's tried to step into Grissom's shoes, and that just isn't right.

I'm wondering about the sudden introduction of a female English bomb expert. Don't know where that came from, but I'm willing to see where it goes!

All in all, this episode maybe wasn't CSI's best, but I don't think it was its worst either. The evidence seems to point to a good episode with elements to improve!
  • Baby Bieber ruined everything.

I'm a huge CSI fan, I've watched every episode of every season and I was very hyped for this episode, that was until I started watching it.

I will admit right now that I think Justin Bieber is a talentless, waste of space who wouldn't be famous if he didn't look like a little girl. With that being said, I gave him a fair crack in the hope he could act better than he could sing, sadly, he can't, in fact he's actually worse at acting.

I wasn't aware CSI catered to the same audience as Justin Bieber, I'm certainly not a 12 year old girl at least. A very poor start to the season.

Bieber! Boo! The guy can't sing, can't act, what the heck did they think??? This is unforgivable!!!

The episode was the worst in the history of the franchise. Yes: Worse than the Spork (Louise Lombard) episodes! Worse than the Keppler (Liev Shreiber)episodes! I am a fan of CSI since the beginning and I can understand a so-so episode from time to time but bringing Justin Bieber is the straw that breaks the camel's back!!! The untalented little runt made a so-so episode simply unwatchable. Hope CBS destroys all trace of this abomination and never airs this episode again! EVER! EVER! EVER!

This episode was interesting until the first 30 minutes, but when bieber appered, everything changed, I don´t have something against him, actually I liked his song "Somebody to love" but definitively he is not a good actor, the roll he had was very stupid and the cliffanger at the end of the episode didn´t work for me.

the stupid fight was unnecesary and also The shooting where jason´s brother was killed. this episode had very bad momments but in my opinion it wasn´t as bad as this grades suggest.

P.S: I´m from venezuela, I´m not an expert writing in english, please forgive my mistakes

It wasn't that bad, at least for me that missed most of season 10. I really disliked Sara, but looks like she's back with a different attitude. Still don't know what happened with her and Grissom, but it's great to see her with the rest of the team.

Poor Nick. He's really gone through a lot as a CSI. Being shot, stalked, buried alive and I just love to see him cry and get it all out. He has a good heart.

Never liked Ray but boy did he suffered here. I guess the thing with this CSI is that it was the first show of that kind and somehow it's hard for those 11-year old fans to let go. Besides, the stories, at least most of them are still good and entertaining.

As long as they don't start making all the CSIs victims very often like in ER, everything will be just fine.
  • Showing age....

I had stopped watching the original CSI: after the show's ninth season. I would pop in every so often for a tenth season episode, but didn't really watch the show regularly by any means. Yet being a fan of the CSI franchise I have a moral obligation to myself to watch the season premieres of all of them. (Yes, even Miami....) The original CSI is starting to show age. Last year's cliffhanger of Langston getting stabbed was an effective one, but within the first few minutes of the show, he is revealed to be okay and all drama is gone. Then there's this bomb at a funeral in where poor Nick (who's been shot and blown up within a few days) was attending. Now I understand where the casting Justin Bieber as one of the show's culprits (but not really culprit) was coming from. CBS was expecting a boost in the ratings. But alas, that didn't happen. The 18-49 share (the thing networks care about more than total viewers) was actually lower than last season's premiere. Bieber is also not a good actor at all; he should stick to his day job. (Something he's also not good at.) And the rest of the regular cast isn't looking to hot either. Everyone seems to have gotten fairly bored with their job and is starting to look old and tired. This episode literally goes through the motions and that's about it. I'm sticking with CSI: NY, who's season opener was one of the strongest episodes of the NY franchise. Too bad it's on Friday where nobody will see it!

I think this is a good start for the eleventh season of CSI (By the way, if I like an episode, I rarely give a note under 9 out of 10). Altough i found Justin Bieber's acting not convincing enough (sorry to the fans, i don't want to shock you, this is just my opinion). It felt, during the episode, like something was missing. Maybe it's just me, but the more CSI i see, the more i miss William Petersen as Grissom. Jorja Fox is back as a regular and that's awesome. Now the one thing missing is the comeback of Grissom. It's been 1 and a half year since he left and I think season 11 would be a great time to bring him back if CBS doesn't want to say goodbye to CSI: Vegas soon. I still think he is what CSI is all about, even though he's not there. But I guess the future will tell us.
  • Explosions + Justin Beiber = Too Much.

    "Good"
What happened to this episode?! It made it embarassing to call this my favorite show (just kidding- it'll always be my favorite show), but I don't even know if it was written to be bad, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The storyline was pretty good, but the episode was extremely awkward. Nick was okay in this episode, but the therapy thing (I think) is uneccessary. I'm not happy that Ray still got to work on the case in the hospital, after being stabbed and loosing a kidney. Are the writers forgetting that he is only a CSI-2? Everyone else could have solved that case easy 2 years ago, but now everyone except Ray is being written as dumb. Having almost everyone get hurt in the episode was a stretch, and it was kind of annoying. I'm glad that Sara is back in the credits, but I'm sad that Wendy is gone. I missed the Rats in this episode, as it had practically no forensics. Last time I checked, it was a show about using forensics to solve crimes. This was upsetting. :-( I did like the new bomb tech Kacey. She seemed nice. If this were the first episode of CSI that I ever watched, and I neither liked nor disliked Justin Beiber, I'd probably make sure my channel was changed for next week. But it isn't, so I guess I'll be back!
  • WOW! What an explosive start to this latest season, injecting new life into this series and keeping up the standards in its 11th year.

    8.5
    "Great"

I really can't remember the last time there were so many explosions on a TV show, much less the CSI franchise.

All the characters really rocked in this episode, especially Jorja Fox - back as a regular - with her character's new twist on the old adage of 'turning the other cheek'. Loved the interaction between Catherine and Nick and wonder if the softer sides of both will lead to romantic sparks later in the season, now that the Warrick character is dead.

What is pretty obvious is Langston's new disability that is probably going to be milked in later episodes and rather mirrors Grissom's hearing problem earlier on. Not sure if I like it as it's likely to be simply a plot device to gain more viewer empathy - not needed, since his fit into the team as a master analyst is already quite well established.

Overall, I wish there had been some comic relief in this very intense episode in the form of the budding romance between Liz Vassey and Wallace Langham (both of whom don't appear in this episode). Liz and Archie Kao aren't credited and I hope the writers will bring them back.

One thought though - with the rapidly rising body count, is the LVPD going to run out of policemen? LOL! The writers would probably write that in to crank up the work pressure of existing cast staff and introduce even more new characters to keep this franchise running into its third decade...
