Three little CSIs (Grissom, Sara, and Nick) respond to an electrocution at a casino. The casino is hosting Japanese antiquities. The electrocution is just a ruse to steal the central piece of the exhibit. Catherine and Warrick deal with a vampire murder.moreless
  • Enjoyable and frustrating

Expect more of the CSI signature storytelling. Two murder mystery stories. I tended to focus more on the vampire story because of the nature of incident. It was presented with more gusto than the casino heist.

Yet both stories are berethed of real action. The excitment is only generated by the breadcrumbs of clues that take us to discover the vampires killer is someone who we could never suspect! Frankly, this sort of device has become tiring. Yet one can argue with the quality of the writing. I just wish the crime plots werent cheapened in this way.

    A decent episode if frustrating!moreless
  • Grissom, Sara and Nick are called to a crime scene to deal with a man who's been electrocuted but not everything is as it seems. Elsewhere, Catherine and Warrick have to deal with a victim thats seems to have been murdered by a vampire.moreless

Brilliant! At the start when they turn the body over and it's a CPR dummy and then Grissom gives the great line "This is a crime scene" at the robbery before the opening credits, you never expect what's gonna happen throughout the episode.

This episode made me laugh quite a lot especially the bit when Nick fingerprinted the samurai sword and part of the paint work came off. When they do a non-murder crime scene I'm not normally in to it as much of a murder, but this one was very clever, and you're left wondering what else could possibly happen.

The vampire murder was clever as well, even if it was a little bit creepy, especially the guy at the clinic with the fangs. It was good that they brought the idea of the stereotypical hollywood vampire to it but also the reality element, once again giving you an insight in to a side of life that you had never before imagined.

    A very good episode.moreless
  • The Mikado and Suckers. What up with Gilbert and Sullivan and The Town of Titipu. Not the only TV drama to reference the Mikado. There must be something to it.

    9.6
    "Superb"
If you think this episode Suckers had a lot of plot twists you should see The town of Titipu, better known as the Mikado. Written and produced by Gillbert and Sillivan and originally produced in England. The plot is as twisted as the leather laces of my Uncle's Harley Davidson Vest on a windy day. It is also kind of morbid. The plot revolves around a men going to his execution that becomes the executioner that can't execute anybody and three girls that are only two girls and well you get the idea. I think the CSI writers were trying to show this in the episode but it lost something in the translation. I will have to agree to disagree that Yeri is strictly a female name. There is more than one dichotomy in the Mikado an oriental Opera written by an Englishman with a pension for procrastination. The episode was cool with the vampires and with a name Lazarus Cain in the blood bar how could you lose. I knew nothing about absinthe but after this episode, lets just say a friend of a friend of an acquaintance who may or may not be associated with the FBI said it is very to come-by but like most things a paper bag full-o-cash is usually the ticket. Was this episode a little over the top? Could be. Was it a good idea? I think so.moreless
  • Poor research shines through and really disappointed me on this one.

    "Terrible"
I love CSI... But this episode *hurt*. They did VERY little, if any, research on Japan or Japanese history.
For a start, the collection belonged to a "Yuri Yamamoto" who showed up as a male. Yuri is a VERY female name. Not even close to unisex. The suit of armor would have been basically outdated by the time the "modern" military came along. That style of "samurai" armor is completely in line with a 17th century theme. Grissom finding the odd one out, when there really wasn`t an odd one out, just made the episode feel contrived and shallow.
As a CSI fan in Japan, it SUCKED.moreless
  • "Three little maids from school are we..."

    "Superb"
This ep was kind of... odd. It was pretty well-written, but with the Japanese antiquities case, it had a bit too many twists and turns for me. I liked the whole "vampire" and blood thing, but it was a little creepy. This ep also should have had a GSR moment, but it really didn't. Overall well-plotted and not too bad!

    • Grissom (to Sara): To find the hunter, know the game.

    • Grissom: Sara? Sara: Hmm? Grissom: Do you have any duct tape in your kit? Sara: Yeah, that's what I use to keep it together.

    • (Grissom tosses a bag of money bands on Caulfield's desk) Ty Caulfield: What's this? Grissom: This is what's left of your $10 million. Ty Caulfield: Thank you for reminding me. Grissom: Do you know how much $10 million weighs? (Caulfield shakes his head) 220 pounds. Your lifeguard, Nathan Pollard-- 5'6", 140 pounds. Ty Caulfield: Strong little bastard. Grissom: Mmm. Say, could I borrow $10,000 in $100 bills? Ty Caulfield: What? Grissom: Only for a demonstration. Ty Caulfield: I'm sorry. I'm all out. Grissom: That's okay. I brought my own. (he shows him the blank money bills) It's only paper, but it's the same size, weight and density. (he puts it down on the table to continue the demonstration) Did you know... money bands are wrapped tightly around stacks of bills? They're very difficult to slip off. In fact, the only way you can get them off is to tear them. Ty Caulfield: What's your point? Grissom: None of your money bands were torn. Now, I don't know how much money you had in your vault, Mr. Caulfield, but I'm pretty sure I know how much you're going to be asking your insurance company for. You see, that's why you had your "thief" leave the money bands behind. You hired Mr. Chen and his merry band of actors to rip you off. I'm sure you paid them, but nothing close to $10 million. Ty Caulfield: "Your notions, though many, are not worth a penny." Grissom: Mmm. "The Mikado." Ty Caulfield: Notions are all you have. Otherwise, we'd be downtown instead of here in my office. You know, I've always been a big supporter of the arts. Hence, Mr. Yamamoto... Grissom Uh, Mr. Chen's... Ty Caulfield: Hence, the exhibition. Over the years, I've financed theatrical productions. Grissom: Including The Mikado? Well, you know, one of your "partners" is going to come back again someday. He's going to miss his family, friends, the ensemble. He'll be back. And I'm guessing he'll tell us all about your latest production. Ty Caulfield: Yes, well, until then, Mr. Grissom. Grissom: Until then. (he stands up and collects his things) I'm going to hand my findings over to your insurance company. I wouldn't count on receiving a payment. (picks up his kit and heads out the door... whistling)

    • (Greg whips out a wooden stake and holds it out to Catherine) Greg: For you ... (Catherine takes the stake. Greg holds out a crucifix for Warrick) ... and you. Just in case.

    • (Grissom checks the vent and finds the missing sword hidden in the ceiling) Grissom (smiles): Huh. Domo arigato.

    • Brass: Come on, nobody should have been allowed to leave. Head of Hotel Security: Your officers didn't say anything about detaining Mr. Caulfield's guests. Brass: Just give me a list of names, okay? Head of Hotel Security: Yeah. (leaves) Nick: Weird night. Brass (points to the dummy): That's not the only dummy here.

    • Brandon Miller: I feel like an idiot. Grissom: Well, you may have a concussion.

    • Grissom: I'm sorry, but there's really no gentle way to do this. (Grissom reaches out and rips the tape off of Brandon Miller's mouth)

    • (After Nick damages the sword) Nick: Uh... Grissom, how's our insurance? (Grissom turns to see what happened) I was being careful, I swear!

    • (Upon seeing it was a dummy in the pool and not a body) Grissom: This is not a crime scene. (an alarm goes off and they walk inside to find the security guard taped up and a case smashed) This is a crime scene.
