  • No Brass, Greg or Grissom! Can you really call it an episode?

A genius girl, a wonderful plot, crazy ending, but it wasn't that good. A prodigal kid shows up on the show. Man! I would have loved to see her interact with Grissom, but no! Its a Sarah and Nic episode. Also this entire season has been nothing but one case shows. Am i the only one whos misses the good ol' two or more cases. It gives more of the characters room to shine instead of cutting them out completly. Come on CSI you can do better!
  • A great mystery with a twist.

    What a wonderful episode.

I found myself going through the same steps as the characters. First totally believing that she was lying to cover for her brother. Then wondering if she could have really done this, but believing that she would have needed help.

Then was it the brother or maybe the victim's boyfriend?? Then to see Warrick's niece dragging that body, I was surprised that she got the body as far as she did. Then Hannah came up with the cart, wow.....

When she went up to hug her brother after he was found not guilty, I had feeling that she would do anything for him and started to suspect that she had lied.

In her conversation with Sara, she was explaining that she could sell the story, I never expected her to actual confess at the end that she lied....

  • Fantastic episode! The writers really did a good job with this episode. Throughout the entire episode, you never quite new if she did it or not. Everytime that you thought that you had it all figured out, something was revealed that made you doubt you ass

Aside from the great writing, the acting was superb. Juliette Goglia as Hannah West did a great job, and easily kept up with the adults. Through out the entire episode, everyone kept saying how smart she was, almost to the point where it was annoying. All right, we get the point. She's smart! But the pay off in the end showed that the twelve year old really was the smartest person in the episode. Although in all fairness, Grissom was noticeably absent from this episode.
  • A great mystery tonight.

Tonight a gifted child confesses to killing a girl that her brother has been charged with killing, while she is on the witness stand.

The girl only 12, but she is a genius, so she is capable of thinking up the crime and c over up, but isn't physically strong enough to commit the act.

Nick believes the girl is covering for her brother, Sarah believes the girl did it.

The brother is acquitted and the girl confesses to Sarah that she didn't kill the girl, her brother did.

Sarah sat there with a dumbfounded look on her face. It was great, you could tell she felt suckered.

  • Fine example Once again CSI decides to a real time episode much like they did with “Invisible Evidence” and so the case takes on a greater sense of urgency to the episode.

Once again CSI decides to a real time episode much like they did with “Invisible Evidence” and so the case takes on a greater sense of urgency to the episode.

While yes, any murder case has a sense of urgency to it, but whenever the episode become a real time episode with a deadline over the CSI’s head the urgency is greater felt in the episode. Because the audience knows for a fact that there is a real deadline that they have to face and that these people have to get their act together if they want to solve this case in the allotted them that is available to them.

This time it centers around the fact that a younger sister of murder suspect confess in front of a full court that she was the one that did the crime and not her brother. A stunning revelation that throws entire case that was built up by the crime lab in a loop and thus throws up doubt in the minds of the CSIs, that they might of not seen it all. That somehow they gain tunnel version with this case, something that they all know that they shouldn’t of get whenever they investigate a murder case. But it appears that somehow this had happen to them and now they have to take a second look at all of the evidence that they had collected to see if had missed anything important.

In the start of the episode it appears that might be the case, but as the episode progresses it appears that there is more to all of this that what it appears to be. That this younger half-sister of the brother, who in fact is a genius, had a hand in this murder case and with all of the background information that she brought up to what this teenager had did to her in the past, a good source of her motive of why she did the prank that resulted in her death. In fact I started to believe that the two of them had a hand in this case and that I was on the side of Shara, whom felt that she was the one that had set up the prank.

I also wasn’t surprise of the verdict that the jury delivered at the end of the trail, I knew that was going to happen. But it was the last monuments in the episode that really gives this episode its strength and makes the episode worth the wait. That she didn’t do the crime, her half-brother really did it and that she did all to bring up reasonable doubt so that her brother would acquitted of the crime. A slick and devious move on her part, which really breaks through the façade that she put up and really shows what kind of person she is. She is a cold hearted extremely intelligent woman that shows no values to others, only if they are apart of her family, if they aren’t, who gives a care about them. This type of intelligent and view on the world is akin to how serial killers view their world.

This type of person scares me, that while the world is safe when she is a child, with limited access to the world. What will happen to the world when she grows up? When she has full access to the world?

Without spoiling the ending, I'd like to say that I was really captivated watching "The Unusual Suspect", a great whodunit, which gave us two equally probable and capable murderers... oh and by the way, only one of them could have commited the crime. I don't usually comment on CSI episodes- I guess I find the investigators to be too know-it-all-y, however, this case set itself apart by being too hard for the audience or the characters to just breeze through. Lots of times the CSI team employs technology that seems like or is science fiction, tonight they didn't, and I saw them as real investigators. CSI is a terrific show and it takes an episode like this to make me admit that.
  • This was one of the best episodes

This episode it's in my top ten. A girl or a boy, the two sibblings, who confesses the crime of a young girl in them school, at late night. The team try to discover the responsible, and make to pay him or her, to the crime. Then, they can't prove the guilty of the boy, who in the beginning was accused of the crime. And soon, Sara dicoveres that the evidences against him, was truly, and the girl who, put the fake evidence in the crime scene, and her brother is the responsible of the death of that girl.

This episode was great and with outstanding performances of the team, but i miss Grissom and Greg, who miss the episode. But, in general was great.
  • One of the best CSI episodes i've seen

Defentaly one of the best CSI episodes i have ever seen meaning Miami, New York and Las Vegas.

Brilliantly smart girl, not to evil that one; however i do have one problem with her plan...

why after she fell down the stairs did she move her, because it would have been seen as a prank and wouldn't have gone any further, since she was wearing gloves so what was the point? did i miss somthing.

But anyway a brilliant episode with just a few errors made (not the plan (other things mentioned in the episode notes)).

I really did love the episode because it was just just so clever.
  • This is a great reason why CSI is one of the best Dramas on TV. It keeps it's audience on its toes with episodes like this, where the bad guy comes out in the end.

This episode hits everyone of my points for being a great drama. It has great watchablity. I've viewed it a number of times and unlike most crime or medical dramas, it does not lose watchability after the first viewing. That is the number one problem with medical and crime shows, they lose watchability after the first viewing. This is one of those episodes you should download and keep. The main villan, a little girl, is both likeable and interesting. The story unfolds at the right pace and for a first view will keep you guessing. An outstanding episode that should be rated as one of the best of the series.
  • One crime, two confession. This is the CSI we all like!!

We must admit, that this is one very special and one very GOOD episode. OMG! I didn't expect this episode to be so interesting. This is so far one of the best episode in this SERIES. This episode is good for several reasons:

    1) The 12 years old Hannah, her confession sounds real. Everythings she said are match to the crime. Making the CSIs confused. 2) The good plot. The story is just good from the beginning to the end. You can hardly find this good episode in this series.

    3) Jorja Fox. She is a very good actor and she prove it in this episode.

This is my favourite episode so far in this series. CSI is getting better and I love CSI very much!!
  • It is a very good episode for the fact there is no Grissom or Greg or even Brass 12 yr old girl confesses to a crime her brother was on trail for but who did it ?

I thought this episode was really good considoring it didnt have some of the charecters that make the show so amazing and the girl who played Hannah did her role so well and the last bit when she was talking to Sara was pretty creepy but the whole plotline of making you wonder who commited the murder because evidence points to either of them keeps you guessing till the end and everthing was just amazing. The way the csi where going between both suspects was also amazingly cool CSI still keeping a great standard even after 7 full seasons.
  • A great who-dunnit? episode.

This episode really kept me thinking the entire way. I could not figured out who killed Stacy, the popular high-school student. I thought it was Hannah the entire time, but I could never figure out if I was right. This episode made me smile to myself because just two days before I watched it, I was in my science class and we were doing an experiment with Sodium Hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. One of my favorite parts of the whole episode were the last scenes with Sara and Hannah. Hannah seemed so composed and that's when I realized she didn't kill Stacy, Marvin did. And then we Hannah whispered the truth into Sara's ear I knew I was right.
  • The killer of a high school girl is either a 12 year-old girl or her brother. No one is sure who it is.

I personally think that girl was very mean. I know she shouldn't have been murdered, but she was practically ruining the other girl's life. The sodium was pretty cool cuz i just learned that in science. It's sort of like the diet coke + mentos thing only more explosive. This episode shows that high school can be a place of knowledge or a place of torture.
  • CSI at its best!

This episode is why I got hooked on it in the first place as it was very cleverly written and the guest stars were briliant! Especially the girl who played Hannah as she actually got me to the point where I was shouting at the Tv and she played her character perfectly. Season 6 to be honest hasn't been at its best but this episode proved writers could still churn out cracking episodes and I hope they stick to these sort of episodes instead of diving into the CSIs personal lives.

I enjoy CSI but this was not one of my favroit don't get me wrong it was good but the whole thing was way to confusing for me it kept going back and forth between who did it and the they get it wrong with the final verdict i still have questions about this episode.
  • I was on the edge of my seat for most of the episode.

This episode still managed to be one of the strongest of the season even without Grissom, Greg, and Brass. I missed their characters but I didn't really mind that they weren't there because the episode was strong. The twists and turns of the case were intriguing and you didn't really know how the case would go. The girl was one smart kid, she even managed to out smart the CSIs and that probably wasn't easy.

The episode reminded me of Invisible Evidence, especially since there was a set amount of time they had to solve the case. The case even had them looking at a different suspect that they first suspected. That's probably why I like this episode so much, I love Invisible Evidence too. A good episode overall.

  • One of the best episodes i've ever watched! A 12-year-old girl outsmarts the entire crime lab!

    9.5
    "Superb"
WOW!!!. I'm still thinkig how did things turn out... It was a great episode.

First, i have never expected the way Hanna Manipulated the Jury and the Forensic team. This little genius creates reasonable doubt that her brother murdered a girl because she confesses to the crime while on the witness stand. She created a flawless version of the crime, with the evidence enough to mess up Nick and Sara's mind, because their believe were different. So they (Nick and Sarah) can't prove otherwise, so the case is down the drain.

Rarely do you see this guys of the crime lab fail so miserably in their efforts. It really brings a smile to my face to know that these characters are not perfect after all. Or maybe they just failed to convict anyone because Grissom wasn't around to keep everyone in check. Who am I kidding?

You can't beat the chilling look on Jorja Fox's face when little Hannah whispers in her ear, "I didn't kill Stacy." It was simply a little girl proving the power of an intelligent mind.
  • A young prodigy possibly fabricate crime scene evidence to put evidence into question in court and subsequently released her brother from prosecution.

    "Good"
An episode I believe would benefit a lot if Grissom were in this episode. The fact that he wasn\'t (nor Greg or Jim, as others have mentioned), and not a mention on where they\'ve gone to, makes me wonder why. This episode challenges the notion that \'Evidence doesn\'t lie\'. The evidence in this episode tells different stories about what happens, the CSI team must first find out which evidence is a lie and which isn\'t. As more evidence comes to light, the real story of what happened becomes more muddied, causing Sarah and Nick to share different opinion on who\'s the guilty party and whether they\'re both guilty. The ending to this episode is open for another follow-up episode.

  • A 17-year-old is arrested for murdering someone he goes to school with. His 12-year-old sister asks to make a statement, and confesses to the murder. Her brother did the same. Now it\\\'s a race against time as the CSIs try to figure out who killed the gi

    7.2
    "Good"
It was okay...I sort of expected the \\\"twist\\\" at the end. I understand Hannah\\\'s want to help the brother, but there were too many loopholes in her story. She changed the story too much, and described it very vividly when asked a simple yes or no question, a sign of a liar. Writing fluke, or purposeful, I decided she didn\\\'t kill the poor girl when CSI discovered Hannah\\\'s NOT Stacy\\\'s blood on the shirt Hannah said she killed Stacy in.

I can\\\'t remember what the episode determined, but my theory was, Hannah got the sulfur, put it in as Marlon instucted, or Marlon put it in as Hannah instucted, and put the \\\"Out of Order\\\" signs on the showers. Marlon did the rest. Hannah just got the chemicals.

Loved Warrick\\\'s niece! She was so adorable!

One of my main problems was that Greg, Brass, and Grissom were missing. Down in the basement with Ecklie and Tina (minds OUT of the gutter).

  • There's a murder in a highschool, and the killer is a very unlikely suspect. She could've had good conversation with Grissom...who wasn't in it :(

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
Grissom wasn\'t in the episode. I believe someone had mentioned that already, and they\'re right. You can\'t possibly have CSI without Dr. Gilbert Grissom. Neither Brass nor Greg were in it either! There was only one story line. CSI has always had an A plot and a B plot, but lately it\'s just one plotline and it\'s not as interesting. Hopefully things will pick up because this show is amazing, and shouldn\'t ever lower it\'s standards.

Finally, I was starting to ask myself ,if from all great episode will anyone be greater. Here I got what I was looking for. A really clever episodes that got ME confused a little bit. I really didn't know who killed here. Usually I know. I really thought the little girl did it. Well I was wrong and I am happy about it. But now if we really want to be fair I think if Grissom would intervene he would figured it out. And that is why they left him out (the authors). Nice move I must admit. Because if Grissom wouldn't know who did it then all his character will have a black hole. That is how I see him - an allknowing human being.

The plot of a very smart girl giving the CSIs a run for their money has already been done a billion times on TV shows. The plot was absolutely predictable, in the middle of the episode I already knew who the killer was.

The only good thing about this episode was that the actress who played Hannah was a very good actress. Otherwise, the plot was bland and dragging.
  • Although Grissom, Greg, and Brass were sorely missed, this episode was still great.

    10

The young girl Hannah was worringly convincing at her part. I didn't expect the twist at the end; how Marlon really was the killer. Finally, a plot twist that CSI has been famous for. I only hope they can employ more of those before the season is over.

    Bring back GRISSOM!!!!

  • This one could have been so great...

    7.2
    "Good"
This episode was a creepy one, and it left me feeling sad. It is a creepy reminder of highschool days, where one can easily get stuck into a teenage bully hell.

The focus of this episode was on the prodigy girl in the first place, but whenever I think about this episode, my mind wanders to her older brother, who tried to make a point, climaxing into that unlucky outcome. And the girl simply tried to pay back, and to protect him. And it's creepy though, because it's hard to tell if the girl is just

smart and simply sticks at nothing or if she just uses her superiority to save her brother. My money is on the latter, because I think she only seems to be conninving and arrogant, but most overintelligent people appear that way. The episode never quite answered how the girl actually felt about this all. I guess she felt responisible, maybe guilty even.

I felt very very pity that we didn't have the chance to see Grissom interact with that girl. From watching the promo I really hoped to see a cool scene with Grissom and the girl. He indeed would have some words to say about the why, no matter how detached he always appears. I think this episode really lacked of Grissoms greater insights.

Anyway, this wasn't about to happen, and I have to set up a short rant here to TPTB: please never show in a promo what won't be in the episode.

I missed some very profound characters and I was disappointed, how the remainder of the crew acted though. I appeared stiff, mock-tough acting to me, and I missed the usual csi-spirit. Especially Nick, Sara and Warrick. I liked Sofia, though.

I hope this is just because the story was a debut from a new wright, and we all know what happened to Nick in "Grave Danger", hence I want to give this episode a really good chance to grow on my when rewatching it.
  • Spread too thin!

    8.4
    "Great"
This episode highlights the problem that occurs when a company spreads its resources too thinly. Obviously I’m talking about the core of the production team being split between three shows. Season Six has been less than noteworthy and you can add this episode to the list. New writers are missing the mark on so many levels as far as cases and characters. That said I will say three things stood out for me in this episode.

The first thing that stood out was Nick heading up the re-investigation of this case (can we say about time?). It was a nice change of pace to see that Grissom’s reasons for giving him the promotion that wasn’t to be (No More Bets) were correct.

The second item that stands out was the introduction of Warrick’s niece. This kid was amazing, spunky and caring (So, did I help the dead girl?). The powers that be should make the cliché marriage work just so we can see more of this kid.

Finally, the parallels between the young girl who said she was the murder and Sara give me hope that last year’s attempt to gain sympathy for Sara with a ridiculous new backstory was nothing more than a smoke screen. Hopefully what we saw in this episode is foreshadowing to the revelation that it was actually Sara who killed her father.

So, should you watch this episode? If you love CSI then definitely watch it. If you are a casual viewer I’d look for a different episode that would hold your interest better.

  • Not terrible, but not excellent either.

    8.0
    "Great"
"The Unusual Suspect" was a pretty good episode, but the absence of Grissom, Greg and Brass was deeply felt. The cast is tight, and each character is an important piece of the puzzle. Three missing main characters is just too much.

It seems as if the little girl and her family were lucky that they weren't there. While the episode held some nice twists and turns, it was missing the depth of past one-case episodes.

The highlights of the episode were the performances of the two little girls. The suspect Hannah was sufficiently sweet and creepy, and she played the part of swinging through the proper emotions at the proper time with ease. Warrick's niece Darcy brought a touching human element to the story, when she tried to "help the dead girl" by reenacting parts of the crime.
  • Didn't even miss Grissom.

    9.1
    "Superb"
This episode proves that the show while good with Grissom can do alright without him too. I really fealt sorry for the whole family. I mean the poor boy, the mother acted like she resented him and the daughter well, I can see maybe putting her a grade or two ahead of her normal age range but a 12 year old being in 12th grade.
  • Did I miss something? Marlon confessed, so why have a trial? Otherwise it was a great episode.

Did I miss something? Marlon confessed, so why have a trial? Otherwise it was a great episode. I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding is, if you plead guilty to the judge, then you go straight to sentencing. I wish I didn't erase it. Did I get 50 words yet?
  • No Greggo & no Grissom. But still a good episode.

    9.5
    "Superb"
This episode was awesome. Both Greg & Grissom were missed and I wish there was at least an explanation for their whereabouts, they *were* MIA for 72 hours. If only Grissom had made an appearance I'm sure there would have been some much needed GSR. Back to the episode...

Lots of Sara, but not as much of her as I expected & even more Nick who seems to be experimenting with facial hair this season. First the 'stache of doom & now sideburns.

This episode reminded me of Invisible Evidence, when the team had 24 hours to come up with enough evidence to convict a murderer, but this time they had a little more time to try & find out who really murdered the high school student.

Hannah was very smart, well she is a prodigy, but confessing the way she did and the team had no way of finding out who was telling the truth, her or her brother.

Hannah was really creepy, even Sara seemed scared at the end when she told her the truth. Don't you just love double jeprody, I had a feeling that she was going to confess because of that.

Sara who usually isn't good in dealing with children did very well with Hannah. I think she may have seen herself at that age in Hannah.
