In the desert, a man and his son play with their dog; the boy throws a stick for the dog to fetch; the dog brings back a bone. The father looks at it and says that it's probably from an animal or something.
Grissom and Catheine arrive; Grissom says it's a tibia, or most of one. They note it's been out there long enough for the animals to pick it clean and the elements to wash it. Catherine wants to call it a crime site, but Grissom says that it's only a potential crime site; if they find the other 205 bones, then they can determine if it was a murder or not; Catherine feels that it was a murder.
Grissom gives assignments; he, Catherine and Nick are working on the bone; Catherine suggests using Teri Miller, but Grissom doesn't want to, saying he'll call if he hits a wall. Sara and Warrick get a dead male body in the Lucky Seven motel, a 23-year old male.
In the desert, teams of officers search for more bones; they find what looks like a piece of skull bone and Grissom licks it; it doesn't stick to his tongue, so it's not bone, it's rock. Catherine is disgusted and wants to know if he had his Hep-B shot. They find a piece of wrist bone; Catherine finds a rib; they place flags where they find the bones. They look at the site, and Catherine says they have about 100 fragments so they can id the body.
At the Lucky Seven, Sara and Warrick go into the room and find Darren Pyne's body in a room where there was a party; he's been whacked over the head with a lamp. The room is registered to Celine Dion, but charged to Lynn Henry, from Wisconsin; O'Riley checks to find where she last used her credit card. Sara and Warrick go to the Venetian Hotel, where they find Lynn and her friends Meg and Joyce, having lunch. Warrick asks if they know Darren and tells them that he's dead. Lynn admits that she knows him, sort of. She explains that they had a bachelorette party for Meg last night; they hired a male dancer and they didn't want anyone to know so they got the room at the other motel. She says that Darren arrived around 10 p.m., they left at 3 a.m. and he was fine; he stayed in the room. Sara asks about bruises on Lynn's wrists, she says she doesn't know how she got them as she was pretty tipsy last night. Warrick tells them that they may have more questions for them after they get the coroner's report.
Grissom and Catherine put the bones together to form a skeleton, using a diagram from a book. Catherine asks if they've hit a wall yet; Grissom says that they haven't, and he's determined that the body is that of a male based on the pelvic bone. He has Nick post the jaw bone on the dental society database to see if they get any information; he determines that the man's height was about six feet, and he was about 60 or 70 years old, but they don't know his race. Grissom notes jagged marks on the bone; Catherine says that it means that he was chopped up and so it's murder, but Grissom says he might have been chopped up post mortem. Teri Miller arrives and tells them that they can determine if he was alive or not by looking for soft tissue in the bones. Grissom isn't happy that Catherine called Teri Miller in without consulting him about it; Catherine says that they needed help and Grissom's past relationship with Teri shouldn't stop them from getting it; Grissom denies that he has or had a relationship with Teri, and tells Catherine to check with him first before doing something like this again. Teri looks over the skeleton and rearranges a wrist bone and ankle bone, but tells Grissom that otherwise, it's good; he says that he's glad she's there.
Nick checks the dental society database and gets a hit for their jawbone from a local dentist. He and Catherine compare the records to their bone; it matches and identifies the dead body as that of Mel Bennett, 70 years old. Teri examines the bones and determines that a reciprocating saw was used to cut up the body. Catherine comes in with the name of the victim; Grissom leaves Nick to work with Teri while he goes with Catherine and Brass to the widow's house.
Dr. Robbins talks to Warrick about the male dancer, asking if any of the women had sex with him; Warrick says that the women admitted to lap dances, but nothing more. Dr. Robbins says that a penile swab shows vaginal cells which are fresh, and means that Darren had sex just before he died. He's also determined that the time of death was around midnight. Warrick and Sara bring in the women to question them more; they want to know who was lying about both the sex and the time that they left. The women sit silently, then Joyce says that she can't be involved in this, she's married and has kids. Lynn tries to stop her from talking; Lynn then admits that after they all left, she went back to the room to get her purse, and while there, Darren attacked her and raped her, which explains the bruises on her wrists. She says that he was alive when she left the room the second time. The women want to leave for Meg's rehearsal dinner; Warrick and Sara allow them to leave, but tell Lynn that she'll be taken to a hospital for a rape examination to be done.
Grissom, Catherine and Brass arrive at the Bennett home; Mrs. Bennett answers the door, and when asked where her husband is, she says that he's not home; he's gone to the store. They place her in a cruiser while they examine the house; watching her speak to the officer at the cruiser, Grissom notes that she looks distraught, and Catherine wonders if it's because she just found out that her husband is dead, or if it's because she got caught? They examine the house and look at photos of the couple, Catherine says that they were good together. Searching the bathroom, Catherine finds no drugs, and notes that the tub hasn't been used in a while; she swabs for blood and finds some in the drain. Brass comes in from the garage; he's found the saw used to cut up the body. At the lab, Teri uses a similar saw on a pig's bones, and matches the cut marks to the ones on the bones. She tells them that the skipping marks on the bones show that the person who used it was unfamiliar with it, or was weak.
Warrick and Sara examine the room at the motel again; Sara comments that there are no traces of the lamp on Darren's head, so things don't add up. Warrick finds something on the edge of the bed; looking at it, Sara says that it's the world's tiniest diamond. Warrick tests it on a glass table top, but it doesn't cut the glass; Sara suggests that it might have come from the ring of Meg, the bride.
In the interview room, Brass, Catherine and Grissom speak to Mrs. Bennett, asking about the saw. Mrs. Bennett insists that she loved her husband and didn't kill him. Brass asks why she didn't report him missing if she loved him so much? Grissom points out that he was missing for seven months; Mrs. Bennett tells them that she wants an attorney. They have her sign a form before calling a lawyer for her; she can barely pick up the pen.
Sara and Warrick try to track down the wedding party, noting that they're in a different place every time they look for them. Sara gets a page that Lynn's rape kit exam results are in, and that she lied to them. They arrive at A Little White Chapel while the wedding is in progress and arrest all the women for the murder; the groom is shocked, asking what's going on? Sara says that the clock will explain it all.
Teri Miller is leaving, she got some soft tissue from the bones, and Nick's working on it. Grissom asks where she's going; she is heading to the Everglades. She apologizes for not returning his call last month, and Grissom tells her that it was nothing, then asks her to take a later flight and have dinner with him before she goes; she agrees.
Catherine examines the tissue from the bone; there's no blood in it, which means that the body was dead when cut up. They talk to Mrs. Bennett again; she admits that she cut the body up, and her lawyer notes that it's not against the law to do that in Nevada. Grissom asks how Mr. Bennett died; the lawyer says that Mrs. Bennett came home from shopping and found him dead in the tub. Brass comes in with some information from Social Security; Mrs. Bennett has been receiving and cashing her husband's checks for the last seven months. Grissom says that fraud is a crime and Catherine says that it's also a motive. The lawyer says that there's no murder, only fraud and that she and her client are leaving. Catherine and Grissom go over the bones again to see if they can find anything else; Greg runs tests on the marrow that show the presence of a lot of digoxin. Catherine says that Mrs. Bennett poisoned her husband, and Grissom points out that they only know that someone did. They speak to Mrs. Bennett again in her home, and tell her about the overdose of digoxin. Mrs. Bennett says that her husband was in chronic pain and very ill; he wanted her to help him commit suicide, but she couldn't do it, so she left while he did it himself. Grissom is confused, and asks if she couldn't kill him, then how could she cut him up? Mrs. Bennett tells them that her husband made her promise to hide his body so that she could continue to receive his pension checks; Catherine notes that if his death had been reported the benefits would be cut by 50%. Outside the house, Brass, Grissom and Catherine discuss matters; Grissom says that they can't prove who gave the fatal dose of digoxin, and Brass notes that when the evidence is goes either way, the tie goes to the defendant, so Rose Bennett will go free. Catherine says that she believes Mrs. Bennett and goes in to give her the news; Grissom heads off for his dinner with Teri.
Sara explains the clock to the women while O'Riley stands by. She explains that injuries at 11, 12, or 1 on the vagina indicate consent, while injuries at 5, 6, or 7 indicate forced sex. O'Riley, looking uncomfortable, leaves; Sara tells the women that Lynn showed no evidence of sex in the last 48 hours, or even in the last four months. Joyce snickers. Sara tells them that someone had sex with Darren, and looks to Joyce and Meg for an answer. Meg admits that it was her, and it wasn't rape; she says that he flirted with her all night, so she told the others to wait while she went back to the room, and it was like her last fling, and since it was Vegas, it didn't really count. She tells Sara that at first it was fine, but then she realized how much Luke loved her and that what she was doing was wrong, and tried to get Darren to stop but he wouldn't, and so she hit him with the lamp, once. She adds that she didn't mean to kill him. Sara asks about Meg's ring; Meg says that it's a diamond but that the one she gave Luke isn't; it's only a promise ring, as he told her to save her money for the honeymoon. She tells them that Luke's ring is a zirconia setting. They talk to Luke, who tells them that his ring is fine, but on closer examination, they note that one of the zirconia is missing. Luke claims that he doesn't know what they're talking about, but Warrick posits that Luke found out about the party and showed up at the motel; that he argued with Joyce and Lynn outside, which is how Lynn got the bruises on her wrists; and when he went into the room, he caught Meg having sex with Darren, he threw the lamp, but didn't stop with that, and bashed Darren's head against the edge of the bed, killing him, and leaving the piece from his ring behind. Meg tells Luke that she's sorry; Luke tells Sara and Warrick that they just wanted to get married and put all this behind them. The happy couple is handcuffed and driven off in a cruiser.
In a restaurant overlooking the Strip, Grissom and Teri are at dinner; he 's having a nice time, not uncomfortable away from work as he was worried that he might be. Grissom's beeper goes off; two bodies have been found in a crack house, and they've been dead for some time. They want Grissom to come and do an insect analysis immediately. Teri notes that he is the bug-guy. Grissom points out that he asked her to wait, but Teri tells him that it's okay. His phone rings, and he turns to take the call, giving instructions on what to do with the bodies until he arrives; when he turns back, Teri is gone.
