During the opening credits of this episode (and probably many other episodes), there is a misspelling. When Marg Helgenberger's name and face are displayed, part of a document is projected as well. The words underneath the signature of the form read "RECIEVED BY", which should read "RECEIVED BY."

The title of this episode, Hitting for the Cycle, is a baseball term and refers to the feat of a single player hitting a single (running to 1st base), a double (to 2nd base), a triple (to 3rd base) and a home run in a single game. Although not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a natural cycle.

When Nick and Greg search Jody Cambry's house and Nick logs onto her bank account, the computer screen incorrectly says "Money Markey Savings Account".

Goof: When David is talking on his phone in the coroner's office, it can clearly be seen that his iPhone is in 'lock' mode, with the 'slide to unlock' bar visible, which is not what is displayed on the screen while a call is in progress.

Goof: After locating the DB in hooker alley, Detective Reed looked up the call history in the victim's iPhone. She used the touch screen to do so, even though she was wearing gloves. iPhones do not respond to touches through gloves (especially leather ones, like the ones she wore) because they operate using capacitive touch. Only things that have electrical conductivity (such as human skin) will cause the receptors to respond.

Goof: At the start of the episode Ray states that a creature large enough to leave the bite marks are extinct with 65 million years, and Hodges attempts corrects him stating that it has been 64 million years and 51 weeks. Hodges should actually have said 64,999,999 years and 51 weeks.
