A boat is up in flames and sharks are all around the boat and the daughter jumps in and the brother goes in after her and both are missing. Someone moved the Bouy. Someone on the Yahct started the fire. They found a different body in the water. The burned man was on the boat. He was dead in the boat. The young girl where the exchange student was staying. He tried to get Luke not to get the gold. The bong was ignited and cooking fuel was in the bong. He was doing his "sister". They were neither brother nor sister.moreless

The storyline was just too far-fetched.

The episode started out really promising, but then it lost steam... Nobody in the family, except perhaps Mrs Gannon, seemed likeable which made it difficult to care what had happened to them. Everyone except for the wife turned out to be bad guys, but they should have allowed us to care about them until we found that out.

The two cases turned out to be just one, so that worked well. But a Norwegian exchange student named Damon Loughlin? Could't they at least have given the guy a Scandinavian name? Or at the very least not given him a name which you won't find in the Nordic? And while we're on cases and storylines, the semi-subplot with the guy who helped Luke get the gold felt unnecessary. Frankly the whole thing with the fake family being after the gold felt too far-fetched. Go to great lengths to kill a guy to then hope to marry the widow, pose as a family and steal lots of gold three years later? It just doesn't seem probable in any way. They must have been able to figure out some quicker and easier way to get to the gold.

The ending, with Horatio looking out at his "family", was kind of nice. It came close to being too mushy, but it managed to stay good. One of the reasons I prefer this CSI series to the original and to NY is that the characters work well together and seem to connect. And with mother hen Alexx and father figure Horatio to lead the team they do form something of a family.moreless

what i dont get is this; how is it possible that snr gannon'prints were still on the black tape after 3 years and the evidence ws still intact as if it had been left the day before?am not a forensic expert but i think wear and tear and weather conditions should have done some damage. and am thinking the guy that bought the merc off insurance people must have done a thorough servicing of the car right? so how come the workshop didnt see the device that delko saw in that car. it sounded far fetched to me but i love watching the series.moreless

It seems for this episode of CSI: Miami they put a bunch of plot devices into a hat drew out a bunch and shoved it all together into one episode.

For the most part it worked, creating a perfectly screwed up family in a totally screwed up situation that didn't seem belivable. Greedy scavangers, switched buoys, fake family pulling a long con, gold bars, drugs. The girl panicked and got herself killed. The boy tried to steal ten million. When in mortal danger such as being on board a flaming ship it seems unlikely a person would turn down help even at extortionate rates.

Eric gets to go diving again, Ryan and Calleigh have a moment, Horatio has his sunglasses.

The con artists were human and immoral. The unluckyness of being in the wrong place at the wrong time is again shown as well as peoples pride. Shame it wasn't truely belivable.moreless

Meaning first a family has lost about $10 million in golden bars while a missing teenager is also on the horizon
Also a foreign exchange student comes in with the mix of things!

Great acting as well as writing makes up this show
