I'm surprised at the low ratings for this episodes. It's not an absolute classic by any means, but it's really actually very good and opens out Alexx's character more. Malpractice and the need for women to improve their looks to combat the ageing process are the main themes, but there's also jealousy, the need for justice and a lot of fun pieces.
A doctor is killed - a staged suicide - and all clues point immediately to a guy whose wife died on the operating table, who is now suing for malpractice. The man is convinced that his wife was killed because of someone's mistakes and Alexx seems to back up his story, because nothing went that well at the time. The ending is very moving really, once the truth is revealed. Elizabeth Lackey as the nurse who's also being sued is wonderful - she has a real presence that works well.
Kudos also to Kristy Swanson for taking on a role that requires her to admit in character to all kinds of cosmetic procedures that she may or may not have actually undertaken herself. Hopefully she's just naturally beautiful.
The only thing I didn't like - and it worked for the episode - was poor old Alexx being lumbered with extra autopsies because of the greasy, too-quick-to-judge Glen.moreless
