Did I miss something? Why is Tripp back in uniform? All this time he's been in plain clothes. I've watched every episode this season and swear no one has said anything.

He did say something to Horatio the first time we saw him. It was a promotion.

I dont know how the police system works in the states but Tripp mentioned he took the Sargents exam.

This is a promotion but Im not sure why he didnt stay with the D's unless there wasnt a position available or this was more responsibility (in regards to new officers not D's). Im not sure there wasnt a fullexplanation in the show.

Detectives are lower in ranking than sergeants (obviouslly...) detectives are allowed to wear working plain clothes... while sergeants are optional... i really wish he didnt wear it... it makes him look like a dork
of course they didnt explain it..... they assume we know these things... i had to look it up myself :/

I was wondering about that, also had a couple of members ask the same queston on Rex Linn's guide (which I edit) I wasn't sure what to say. Thanks for solving this mystery for us.

err... well... as a sergeant, they show their rank on their shoulders (u know.. as an insignia... sorta like how like navy/army ranks wear theres) or its the show's way to show that frank's been promoted and that he's higher up than the other detectives...
though i wish he would still play his roles in questioning and doing lab work... he's such a jerk at doing it and thats awesome!
now he looks like some bodyguard for horatio... >_>

I really thought I had missed last season that explained it, but I guess they just didn't really say why... But the baldness kinda makes it seem like he's sick or something... It also seems like he was fired from his previous job and now he works as a regular cop...

I guess it means people didn't like him when he was in uniform then?

yeh.. detectives can wear plain clothes.. but frank got promoted to sergent as stated earlier... so he had to be on duty and had to be in uniform... but he's back on homicide which means he can go back wearing what detectives wear....

and no... i dont think a lot of ppl liked frank in a uniform... he looked like a wienie
