CSI: Miami

Season 8 Episode 15

Miami, We Have a Problem

Aired Sunday 10:00 PM Feb 08, 2010 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • Goof: The victim's identity is first suspected due to his bones showing signs of osteoporosis. However, he was only in space for ten days; it would take months for osteoporosis to occur.

Osteoporosis is a bone disease, not a bone marrow disease as mentioned by Dr. Loman. Furthermore bone marrow is not visible on an x-ray since it is found in the hollow interior of bones.

  • Quotes

    • Walter: Maybe our victim's an alien.
Ryan: No, I feel like Tom would have mentioned the green blood by now.
Walter: Unless Tom's an alien, too, covering up the truth. Would explain a lot about Tom, if you think about it.

  • Allusions

    • Tom: What happened to our victim has only occurred three times in history.

On June 30, 1071, the crew of Soyuz 11 were killed after undocking from space station Salyut 1 after a three-week stay. A valve on their spacecraft had accidentally opened when undocking. Cosmonauts Georgi Dobrovolski, Viktor Patsayev, and Vladislav Volkov were killed by exposure to vacuum. The capsule landed normally in what is now Kazakhstan, only for the recovery team to find the crew dead.

    • The episode title is an adaptation of the phrase "Houston, we have a problem".
