  • I love this episode.

Oh Great, a man is struggling for his life on the sea, with hundreds of sharks swimming in the sea. Then later on, he dies, after being bitten, and maybe eaten by the sharks. When Horatio arrives, he says: "This is a crime scene". This episode is great, I love this episode. But I hate the ending, where Horatio tells Marisol that he wants to marry her. Wasn't Horatio too old for Marisol? For the others, it's just perfect. This is one of the best episode in this season. Congratulations, Ildy Modrovich and Marc Dube, for an excellent episode in CSI: Miami.

A man is overboard and the sharks are going to him. He is eaten to death by the sharks. The man was pushed overboard. Captain says that he never seen sharks up this close. A 14 size shoe was found and some blood. His wife opened and stole 10 grand from the man. The Captain was an illegal dumper, and that's why the sharks were up so close. A woman is missing. She suspectedly has the bird flu. The musician unlocked the safe. The girl was strangled and Mandy pushed her step-father overboard b/c he walked up on her and the sailor.

First of all i have never been on a cruise ship, hjowever i do have nautical expertise on larger boats and this episode was a little pathetic. Apart from the captain being totally irresponsible to an infant level, the fact that the body was found in this was is a little more absurd. It is possible to hide a body on a ship half that size without anyone noticing this or ever finding the body. The other part, the one with the newlywed father was a lot better and that part was good. Even though that after all that they still found the strap is a bit unbelievalbe, the storyline on how she snapped was pretty well written. Not sure if i efver want to meet a woman who could snap like that, she still looked mighty fine, snapped and all.
  • The case was poorly handled, but the character focus made up for it.

I really liked this episode. I wanted not to like it, because the case was rushed through and poorly handled, but I still found myself enjoying it. There was a lot of focus on personal relationships, personal problems and the mole in the lab. It's building up for the season finally, I presume.

The problem I had with the case was that it felt very secondary and like they didn't put any real effort into it. The two deaths were completely unrelated and I don't even get why they needed the storyline with the murdered girl. It felt out of place and they never did anything much with it. They spent so much time on the regular characters that they would have benefited from having just one death to solve. Instead they spread it out over two, and neither was covered enough. Both felt like they were just starting the investigations when alas the episode time was running out so they got a quick answer.

But in the end the problems with the case they had didn't really bug me. There was enough going on with the characters that you didn't pay much attention to the case anyways. And I admire the fact that they managed to get several small character storylines brought up or developed, so we know basically where we stand for the last episodes of the season, yet they didn't make it seem scattered. The tension between Wolfe and Delko was brought up, the sense that Delko doesn't like his sister dating Horatio even though he gave his blessing was brought up, Horatio and Marisol were brought up, the drug charges against Delko were brought up... Along with some other minor stuff.

Finally they gave some more oomph to the Horatio/Marisol thing. I like the idea of them as a couple, but they haven't really done much with it IMO. All they've really done is move the relationship ahead real fast, but they haven't given any real sense of actual love between the two characters. We never see them kiss, I don't think we've even seen them hug... My mom didn't even realise they were dating, she thought they were just friends. I don't get why they have had them decide to have children and get married yet they haven't show any essence of a loving relationship. This was the first time I can remember that they did that. They seemed to be an official couple and I think there was a "honey" in there somewhere. I don't know why they have been so scared to put any real body to the storyline; hopefully they'll put more of that into it in the next couple of episodes. I like the idea of the two as a couple, but it makes little sense to have them get married before we've seen them hug or kiss. They seem so platonic.

Delko seems to be having a lot of problems in his life. His sister is really sick (though I'm very confused as to whether she's dying or just sick, they seem to go back and forth between those two), his sister is also dating his boss, he's got the drug thing hanging over his head, he's lost his girlfriend and there's irritation between him and Wolfe. I didn't see much of the first three seasons but from what I gather Delko's best friend was on the team and he got killed, and Wolfe took his place. If that assumption is true then Delko must be having a hard time accepting Wolfe into the team, replacing his friend. On top of that he seems to feel guilty still for what happened to Wolfe's eye. And on top of that Wolfe is now dating his ex-girlfriend. Wolfe on his side doesn't seem to understand why Delko doesn't completely accept him. There is definite negative energy between those two, even though they sometimes get along really well. It will be interesting to see what happens between them in the future episodes, now that the mole storyline is getting more focus.

I think that's it for my shrink-wannabe analysis... at least for this week. Good episode!

The FBI looking into the crime lab did not get enough attention. The very end was stupid. Horatio agreeing to marry Delco's sister was a bad story line. The cruise ship murders were not believeable. The 16 year old girl killing her new step dad because her mother is a slut was stupid. And the other girl getting killed because she might have the bird flu... retarded.

I thought this was a really good episode that had kinda been taken from the headlines. The team starts investigating a mysterious death that starts looking more like a homicide and while they are investigating this one they come across another one. I think Horatio genually cares for Marisol and he is due for good things to happen to him. Also, the whole fed thing is leading up to what I can only say is probably an awesome finale. Cant wait to find out who the mole is and why. I was leaning towards Valera, but I am kinda thinking it might be Cooper now.

Well, another good case of Who-Done-It!! I was a little surprised that it was the Step-Daughter. I thought for sure we'd find that this guy was into something dodgey!!!

It was unfortunate too, because after all was said and done, you had a feeling that this guy was genuinely a nice guy, not another throw-away for her mother.

I can't believe the whole case hinged on a strap from a shirt, i didn't think that was very believable, but then again, i'm not known for my incredible sense of detail either. I would have considered it flotsom.

The writers did a fine job on this episode, I loved the fact that it was placed on a cruise ship. Probably a testament to the Poiseidon movie just coming out.

I would think it would be difficult for them to keep coming up with original storylines, but it looks like they did it again.

    Job well done!!!
  • The CSIs investigate two deaths from a cruise ship.

Tonight's show opens with a man struggling to swim in the ocean off the board of a large cruise ship. A "man overboard" alert sounds and people rush to the side of the ship to see the man. Unfortunately, the man in the water isn't alone, he's got a shark swimming around him in circles. One of the women on the ship identifies the man in the water as being her husband and she asks for help. The man is then tossed a life ring to help him keep afloat. He's then surrounded by several more sharks. After a few seconds, a man with a radio walks over to the woman and radios for a rescue craft to be launched to rescue the man. After he realizes the man is surrounded by sharks, the man with the radio pulls out a handgun and fires several rounds in the vicinity of the man in an attempt to scare them off. Tragically, it's of little use. The sharks eventually grab the man and kill him, releasing a large amount of blood, which floats to the surface.

We cut to the ship several hours later with Horatio and Frank interviewing the man who fired the shots into the water. It turns out he's the captain of the ship and the man who died in the water is Mike Harris. As they question Captain Quentin Taylor, Horatio spots blood on one of the railings and scuffed shoe prints below it, signs of a struggle. This may be the point at which Mike went overboard somehow.

After the credits, we cut to Delko preparing to join the Coast Guard, who are getting ready to launch their vessel and dive at the site of the cruise ship in hopes of finding Mike Harris' body and anything else. Horatio warns him of the black-tip sharks responsible for Mike's death.

Back to the cruise ship, Horatio talks to Captain Quentin Taylor again about Mike Harris and the people he was travelling with, Gwen Creighton and her daughter, Mandy. Horatio learns that Mike and Gwen had just gotten married, they met aboard the ship and the captain admits to performing the ceremony himself. Horatio asks the captain about where the Creightons are staying, but is surprised to learn that the captain allowed all of the passengers to get off the ship. Tracking down all of the passengers will obviously make the investigation just that much more difficult to do.

Calleigh Duquesne enters Mike Harris' room (Stateroom 3A) on the ship and asks if anyone is there, but it seems to be empty. She searches the room for anything out of the ordinary. She notices a glass which was tipped over on the floor.

We quickly cut to the lab, where one of the techs examines the liquid remaining in the glass which Calleigh found. Calleigh then drops by to get the results, and it seems someone slipped Mike some sleeping pills in his drink. Wolfe then drops by and announces he's got a lead, but he allows Calleigh to go first. Mike's stateroom safe was missing $70,000 and someone slipped him those sleeping pills, making it easy to throw him overboard. Wolfe then tells her the shoe print Horatio found matches the shoe style that all of the crew on the ship wear, which narrows it down a bit, but there are a lot of crew members on the ship. Wolfe has been able to narrow it down, however, as the shoe size is a 14, a fairly rare shoe size.

With all of the new information, Horatio travels back to the cruise ship and talks to one of the crew members. He admits to getting into a scuffle with Mike Harris, who was apparently drunk and belligerent. The crew member tells Horatio that he didn't throw him overboard, but Horatio isn't so sure. He brings up the issue of the missing $70,000, to which the man responds by telling Horatio to check the computer database on the ship. All security card swipes are monitored and logged.

Back at the lab, Calleigh and Wolfe are looking at the card swipes in the database. The database says that the safe in Mike Harris' stateroom was opened at 5:03 am (one hour before Mike was seen overboard) by Gwen Creighton, Mike's new wife.

We now join Wolfe questioning Gwen in the interrogation room. She insists that she didn't open the safe, but rather someone may have stolen her security card. Wolfe finds it a bit ridiculous, so he asks about the money that's missing. $70,000 is a lot of money, but Gwen seems to know that Mike is worth more than $21 million. Wolfe thinks that maybe Gwen took the $70,000 to throw off the investigators, making them look for a petty thief, and then she would collect Mike's life insurance money. As the questioning progresses, Gwen says that Mike went to a show the other night and that she was at the bar. Two newlyweds being apart just as a day or two after they got married is a little strange, but according to Gwen, Mike told her to stay away so that he and Gwen's daughter, Mandy, could spend some time together and bond. With this info, Wolfe leaves the room to talk to Mandy, since she's waiting for her mother in the hallway. Mandy tells Wolfe that they were supposed to go to the show together, but Mike never showed up.

Back to the boat launch, Delko and the Coast Guard are back from their dive. Delko tells Frank that they found a dead shark in the area. It's likely the one which was shot by the captain's service pistol. Frank calls in some help to give Delko a hand with the shark he and the Coast Guard brought back.

Back at the lab, Horatio and Marisol meet up for a minute. She tells him that she was brought in earlier today by the FBI, and she's a little worried. She tells him that the agent wanted to know all that she knew about Horatio, Delko, and the lab. Horatio asks her if she knew the agent's name. She pulls the agent's business card out of her pocket and hands it to him. The card belongs to a Special Agent Robert Wynn.

Back at the docks, Delko and Frank are looking at the dead shark. The first thing Delko notices is something caught in the shark's teeth. It's a human belly button, so the guys decide it's time to have it taken back to the lab since there's likely more inside of the shark's stomach. As one of the volunteers moves the shark, pieces of garbage fall out of the shark's mouth. The fellas realize it's trash from the cruise ship. It's illegal to dump trash while at sea. It's also dangerous for anyone falling offboard since the sharks will be able to smell it from a great distance.

Horatio questions the ship's captain about the trash found, and the captain says it was likely an accident. He's not willing to admit to the dumping or tossing Mike off the ship, so Horatio tells him he's going to look into the ship's history.

We cut to Horatio and Special Agent Robert Wynn having a discussion about an investigation. SA Wynn is looking into the investigation of Eric Delko and how Marisol, Eric's sister, is not Horatio's girlfriend. To him, it seems a little fishy. Horatio's obviously upset about SA Wynn's opinion that the lab is dirty. Horatio ends the meeting by threatening SA Wynn, "Agent Wynn, I don't know who you are, or who you work for, but if you ever contact Marisol again, it'll be the last thing you ever do."

Elsewhere in the lab, Alexx Woods is dissecting the shark Delko and Frank brought in for her. Calleigh joins Alexx while she examines the shark. They pull out all sorts of food and trash and eventually find one of Mike's legs, from just below the knee, on down. One of the punctures in the leg isn't from the shark's teeth. It looks very different and is obviously from some sort of knife. Calleigh mentions Horatio found blood on the railing where Mike was likely thrown overboard. Alexx seems to think that there is more blood somewhere else on the ship.

Wolfe and Delko are on the ship now, searching for blood. As they make their way down a hallway, Wolfe brings up the topic of Marisol and the fact that she was questioned. Delko doesn't know anything about it and gets angry very quickly, so Wolfe tries to calm him down and they focus on the task at hand, locating the blood. Delko then smells fresh paint. They make their way into a room and notice the baseboard trim along the floor of the room has been freshly painted. Wolfe checks out one area and finds blood. If this is where Mike was stabbed, it looks like someone went to a lot of work to clean it up. Delko then notices the Infirmary is next door, so Mike may have been on his way there to see the doctor and a few drops fell onto the baseboards. Wolfe, on the other hand, thinks otherwise. The direction of the blood splatter means Mike would have been coming out of the Infirmary, not going inside. The guys go into the Infirmary and meet with the physician inside. Wolfe notices one bed has more than a few drops of blood on it and the patient information sheets don't belong to Mike. The physician says the patient was Rebecca Ferriday. Wolfe says physicians don't need restraints on beds for sea sickness, and the amount of blood there is out of the ordinary. She tells Delko and Wolfe that Rebecca had an eye infection and had acute respiratory distress. She was resistant to treatment, so they needed the restraints. According to the medical papers Wolfe has, the doctor suspected Rebecca of having Avian Influenza. The doctor tells them that Rebecca got out of the restraints and they haven't been able to find her since. She was told by the captain not to fly a blood sample to the CDC because they were less than 24 hours away from shore.

Back at the lab, Delko questions the ship's captain and shows him photos of the bloody restraints. Delko tells him that holding a woman against her will is kidnapping. The captain tells him that she was held down for her own safety. Delko tells him that if she's killed as a result of those injuries, that constitutes murder. The captain thinks the small cut she may have gotten couldn't have killed her, but Delko adds that she may have died from the Bird Flu. The captain doesn't deny the possibility, but he says he didn't want to alarm anyone. Delko finds this absurd, putting the entire city of Miami at risk over the small population of people on the ship. Delko seems particularly angry and gets up into the captain's face very aggressively and is unwilling to back down. Eventually the captain leaves to finish preparation of the re-launch of his ship.

Elsewhere in the lab, Frank and Horatio compare notes. The CDC says the blood on the restraints was too degraded to test. They really need to find Rebecca before she dies and puts others at risk, and in order to find her, Horatio is going to try and stop the ship from leaving port because there's a chance she's still there somewhere.

Outside of the lab's building, Horatio and Delko talk for a minute. Horatio tells him that he was told by one of the officers that Delko's conversation with the captain went a little too far. He goes on to say that someone is watching their every move and that they need to be very careful. While the conversation continues, we take the viewpoint of someone from a fair distance away, who is taking photographs of the two as they talk. It's not clear who is photographing them, however.

Back in the lab, Calleigh stops by Joseph Kayle's station for some results on their case. He's been examining the keypad to Mike's safe, and the fingerprints match those of Barry Judd, an entertainer on the cruise ship.

Calleigh is able to track down Barry Judd, who admits to having Gwen's security card, but only as a trick. He doesn't admit to going back to her hotel room, although Gwen seemed to want him to. Calleigh is given permission to search Barry Judd's magic kit, since he's a magician. Inside, Calleigh finds a false bottom to one of the drawers, and it's full of money. Barry then admits to going back to the room and taking it. According to Barry, Gwen bragged about all of the money in the safe and that they would be out for the night. In the flashback, Mike was in his room and Barry ran out before they got into an altercation. He flatly denies killing Mike.

Back at the lab, Wolfe chats it up with Valera, who's curious about the money Calleigh found. Valera gives Wolfe some news about the glass found earlier. There was dandruff on the glass and it belongs to Mandy Creighton, the victim's step-daughter.

Mandy admits to Wolfe that she slipped Mike the sleeping pill, but she doesn't think it's a big deal. She says the reason she gave him the sleeping pill was because she didn't want to spend her last night on the boat with Mike, but rather with someone else. Wolfe presses her for the guy's name, but she's reluctant to tell him because she doesn't want him to lose his job on the ship. She eventually gives him up. She says she met Keith Murray, the First Mate, on the first day. She says that her new step-dad, Mike, was about to catch them kissing on the deck of the ship, but Keith apparently told her to run off and he'll handle Mike. She admits that Keith gave her the sleeping pills.

In another room, Horatio interviews Keith Murray for his version of the story. Keith tells him his version, but we don't learn a whole lot from the interview. Keith seems to be more worried about losing his job than going to jail.

Elsewhere, Delko catches up with Frank, who's been calling all over for any news of Rebecca, and she's nowhere to be found. Frank, however, forgot to check the garbage. Rebecca may have been thrown into the garbage and illegally dumped with everything else, thus getting rid of that problem. Frank gives the job to Officer Aaron Jessop, the same officer who overheard Delko's discussion with the captain and told Horatio about it.

Ass suited up, Delko and Officer Aaron Jessop arrive in the garbage department of the ship. Jessop asks Delko if this is some sort of message because of what he told Horatio, but Delko doesn't exactly admit it. As they search, Officer Jessop locates Rebecca's body in the garbage. Delko notices that she was murdered because there are ligature marks around her neck, meaning she was strangled by someone.

Back at the lab, Delko and Horatio are looking at the photos of Rebecca's body. The ligature marks are very distinctive. It's not from rope, but from a belt loop of some kind, but it has to have an adjustment clasp. Horatio concludes it's the strap to a set of binoculars.

Horatio and and Delko drive back to the docked cruise liner and have the captain arrested. They were able to match the binocular strap to that of the set the captain used. He says the woman was a danger to everyone on the ship, and it seems Rebecca didn't have Avian Influenza afterall.

Back to the lab, Alexx gives Calleigh and Wolfe a container of the remainder of the stomach contents of the stomach. They go through it and find a piece of Mandy's dress. In the flashback, Mike is thrown overboard by Mandy, and he tries to grab ahold of her to stop himself from going overboard, but he's only able to grab ahold of one of her shoulder straps, tearing it off of her body.

In the interrogation room, Calleigh talks to Mandy about Mike, and she admits to killing him. She says that her mother, Gwen, has been married five times now, and she's tired of all of the "dads". Mandy was told that the trip would be just for them and when Gwen got married fairly soon after boarding the ship, Mandy knew it wasn't going to be a trip just for the two of them, so she decided to put an end to it.

Back at the ship, the police officers are taking the captain away, and the First mate is now taking over for him. We cut to the police station where Mandy is being taken away in front of her mother. We cut to Alexx, who is sliding Rebecca into the morgue's refrigerator. This is all done to the Beach Boys tune "Sloop John B".

We now join Marisol, who's waiting for Horatio in a park. Horatio eventually joins her and they talk about their relationship. She's curious if Horatio is willing to marry her sometime in the future or if that's one of the things he's not willing to do. He reassures her that marriage is definitely on the table, which immediately puts a smile on her face. The show ends with Marisol resting her head on Horatio's shoulder, looking over the water at the park.

The mystery of tonight's show was above average, but I was a little disappointed to find out the daughter did it. There wasn't really any emotion in the conclusion of that case and was a let-down. On the other hand, the Eric Delko, Horatio, and Marisol soap opera continues, and while there wasn't much progress here, it sets up the wedding for a future episode, and I'm looking forward to it.
  • Major character development for CSI: Miami on a couple separate lines.

Tonight’s episode ends with a character development bang which I won’t spoil in this review. The crime(s) are pretty well done and the plot has a number of twists. There is more storyline development in the ‘dirty lab’ series. Delco has a minor problem here and appears to be moving towards some anger management issues possibly due to his sisters problems. This is making things harder on the team re: dirty lab stuff. The new displays they were using for the cruise ship access card tracking were really cool, not sure if they really exist yet but still cool. Looking forward to more information on the ‘dirty lab’ and discovery of whoever the mole is.
  • Don't mess with Horatio!

I just loved it when Horatio stood up to that

FBI agent who was bothering and giving his girlfriend

Marisol trouble about him and Eric as Horatio doesn't even take bull from the feds

The cruise ship has people dying as the captain denies that he was involved with any of their murders

CSI Miami will get even better in the last few episodes of this season!!
  • Two murders occur on an exclusive cruise ship and the team sets out to solve them. Horatio and Marisol take steps forward in their relationship and more is revealed about the mole and the lab.

I enjoyed this episode lots and lots. Well, I was crying at the end, because I really enjoyed that marriage thing that's going on between Horatio and Marisol- I think they make a really cute couple and I can't wait to see this wedding!! I think it's really cute how much Horatio cares about Marisol, and I really enjoy them being together! Can't wait to watch this storyline devlop.

I found it odd that Eric didn't know about Marisol, and then he snapped at Ryan for it... Ryan and Eric seem to be getting along a bit better now at least. I wonder if this is going to cause problems at the lab, Marisol stopping telling Eric things because she's spending all her time with Horaito. The two siblings struck me as the type that stay close and tell each other mostly everything and now she's choosing to tell Horatio things over Eric... I can see that causing some potential problems. In other Eric news, it looks as if someone is stalking him, I thought that partly because I had read it on TalkCSI, but also, the way that they filmed that scene outside the department where Horatio was telling Eric that their lives were being scrutinized in and out of the lab with the snap shots that zoomed in specifically on Eric after Horatio turned to leave, it leads me to believe that there will be something to do with Eric and a stalker. This whole taking out the lab, mole thing is getting very intense, and I cannot wait to see how it is resolved!

This storyline seemed to connect with Calleigh at the end when Mandy, the dead man's new step daughter who confessed to killing him, asked Calleigh why she wasn't even enough for her mother, and Calleigh said she wished she knew... could that be because she spent a great deal of her life wishing that she was enough to keep her father sober? That's what it made me think of right away... I don't know if it was meant to be that way, but I'd guess so.
