  • When Eric Delko is found hurt in the Everglades and is rushed to the hospital, we go back in time to see how our favorite team comes together.

This has to be one of my favorite episodes in the series. We finally see what happens before the team is assembled. We get to see how Eric's, Calleigh's, and Horatio's life is like.

This was also an emotional episode too. The scene where Horatio sat next to Eric in the hospital was very sad. The first time I saw it, it made me cry. Horatio hardly ever talks about his feeling so the fact that he has opened up in this dark hour says that he is starting to show his feeling. Plus, it makes us remember lost, yet loved characters (Ray, Marisol and Speedle). We also see new characters meaning Jesse Cardoza. This was an unexpected, but enjoyable twist in the story. I only wish he was on the show from the beginning. Then there's Sully. I'm just happy he is not on the show and that Horatio kicked his butt (not literally :). All in all; great episode!!!

It hurts to type this since this is my favorite TV show. After the amazing "Seeing Red" ,"Dissolved" etc.,this was a MAJOR letdown! 1997 the beginning, give me a break.I hope this wasn't a "Jump the Shark" show. How much cornier could this one have gotten? Unless it's a comedy, going back in time beyond the shows' original episodes and recreating moments that didn't air in the first place is a disaster! Bruckheimer at his worst! I hope the ABC deal isn't going to affect this Classic,Great show.

Will the REAL CSI:Miami please return!!!The cast and characters are great, get back on track and keep it that way!!!
  • The eighth season begins with Delko's life hanging on by a thread. As doctors try desparately to save him, we are taken back in time to 1997 and see the case that ultimately created the team.

I will start off by saying it's always good when Khandi Alexander is back on the show even if it is for a short time. I wish her return would become permanent. I do think this season started off on a positive note, but I kept asking myself a few questions like, what has happened to Delko's father? Did he actually dump his critically wounded son in a swamp? How many more gun shots to the head can Delko survive? The flashback story was entertaining, but Horatio's then partner was too much of a cliche. Good episode, but flawed also.
  • As Delko's life hangs by a thread, the story takes us back to 1997 to see how the team came together.

The flashbacks gave us some much needed insight into the characters of Horatio, Calleigh and Eric. While the case of a murdered young woman wasn't all that interesting, it was highlighted by Horatio's familiar bloodhound instincts and tenacity to pursue the truth. Calleigh was presented as a trusting charming southern belle who eagerly awaits the opportunity to put her forensic skills to good use. The most interesting character was Delko, who showed all of the makings of a good CSI but had little interest in becoming one. The most interesting thing about the episode was the scenes were exploring the already established relationship between Horatio and Delko, which kept getting stronger over time. I enjoyed the fact that the writer's managed to use the whole team and bringing back Alex's character was a real treat. My only complaint is that the writer's apparently forgot that the episode, Golden Parachute gave us a different version of how Horatio became leader of the team. Putting that factual error aside, I did like the way the writers introduced Jessie Cordoza. He came across as likable and time will tell what the writers have in store for his character.

To sum things up, this episode was a refreshing way to start the new season.
  • Great Episode, but it got told said Ryan was goin' to be in the flashback but i've watched it like 4 times now and I can't see him, is he actually in it?

Also, I love the way Horatio got his sunglasses the banter between Eric and Horatio was so cute :D And also the Eric and Calleigh moments where great!

But, is it just me or does Natalia's lab coat look like is had 'FBI' written on it in chalk? Looked a little cheap tbh! And last but definitely not least how hot is Jessie Cardoza(Eddie Cibrian) :P Can't wait to see episode 2 when he takes off his shirt :D
  • I was very happy with this episode. Great acting and scriptwriting. True, I would have loved to see more Jonathan (Ryan Wolfe), but other than that, it was great.

I was very happy with this episode. Great acting and scriptwriting. True, I would have loved to see more Jonathan, but other than that, it was great. HannahLou008: I looked around deligently, and I did NOT see Ryan in the flashback what-so-ever. I'm glad someone else caught that.

Horatio's scene with Eric in the hospital was absolutely touching. I had to hold back the tears. I was very glad to hear Horatio mention Ray, Marisol, and Speed in this monologue because it gave the audience a more human moment that we usually do not see with him. Most are used to the brave hero that Horatio Caine is, but now, we truly see his pain.

Though, I'm not sure how I feel about Jesse Cardoza yet. I'm trying to keep an open mind about his character despite my whole "You're replacing Eric, NOOO!" feeling.

Oh, and who thought the song "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba was the perfect start to the flashback? haha!

by far, one of the most amazing episodes I have ever seen, the script is very good, the story, the cast... it was awesome to get to know the story of the lab and how they got there... and the sunglasses thing was SO great! it was a REALLY great start, just like the last episode was a great ending for the season...

im really excited to know what's going to happen next, I just hope csi miami continues the way it is, because csi (las vegas) last season was awful!

But for now, i think this was a PERFECT episode... !
  • Delko is found comatose, and we are taken back to the year 1997 to when the team first formed.

Altogether an all right episode. Not one the greatest, not one of the worst, somewhere in between with an earning of 7.5 from me.

Out of Time opens where Seeing Red left off, with Delko missing in the Florida Everglades and Horatio poised in the middle of the water staring out with a searching glance. Calleigh comes up behind him and the search ensues. Delko is found and air lifted to the hospital, and the majority of the episode afterwards takes place in 1997.

David Caruso looked younger, and he totally rocked the tie, by the way. Eric looks better with his hair grown out. Calleigh looked the same, but her voice was a bit higher. Frank... well, Frank had a 'stach that caused some giggles that are still going on with some friends and me. Altogether very interesting how they had the entire team shave a decade and two years off the formal characters they've become.

This episode was not as exciting as I had hoped it was going to be. I first thought that it was going to revolve around Eric and Calleigh and how the team formed. But, as CSI: Miami goes, the episode was based on a homicide, coincidentally Calleigh's first and Eric's new taste of cop life. Nice to see Horatio activly working a case (I don't remember him doing so much work since season two, three or four. Well, it's been a while) with partner Sully, even if Sully was a bit of an SOB. The Liuetenant was a bit of a nuisance. It seems to me that before Horatio actually became Lt. Caine, he was disregarded, both as a cop and a scientist.

The sunglasses storyline was fun, though.

Can't wait for next week when the lab is taken hostage!
  • Aboslutely amazing!

    The best episode ever!

It was so interesting to see how it all began. Especially how small the lab was and all the machiens that were missing, that we are so used to see now. Everyone were getting to know each other. Frank was officer and had a lot of hair! Seeing Horatio with a tie felt strange and everyone calling him Detective all the time. I didn't like Sullivan very much though. Buw Jesse, now that's a good man and it will be very interesting to see how things turn out when he comes back to Miami. I loved the scene where Horatio almost started crying while talking to Eric. Can't wait for the next episode!
  • Best CSI:Miami episode so far. Continues where last seasons finale left off.

    Short Review:

Horatio & Co are desperately searching the Everglades for Eric. They find him collapsed next to a road and the audience is taken back to the year 1997 when Eric drives on the same road in a tow truck, working for a company called "Flagler Tow". He finds a car dumped in the water with a female corps in the trunk and calls it in. Horatio and Frank show up to investigate the murder of the woman. Calleigh, new at the "lab" is also aiding them with her knowledge on ballistics and Jesse, a co-worker of Horatio, is introduced though he tells Calleigh that it is his last day there.

During the investigation we get to see the different methods used in forensics in 1997 and nowadays. The team is able to find the killer despite all the obstacles the rest of the department is throwing in their way.

Back in 2009 Eric wakes up surrounded by his friends & co-workers.

    Thoughts:

This is by far the best episode I've ever seen on CSI: Miami. The music pick was awesome and I really enjoyed the fact that they showed us how forensics were used 10 years ago.

The actors themselves were also good, especially David Caruso in the scene at Eric's bedside and also at the beginning of the episode. And at the end, too. I think he's never shown his emotions better and I am usually not a fan but after watching this episode I am 'converted'. Emily Procter was a little annoying as newbie. The fact that her voice seemed even higher than usual was also irritating but I liked her interaction with Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko). I loved the scene when Eric hands Horatio the sunglasses at the end of the flashback after 'H' told him to go to the police academy and that he'd be waiting for him until he got his badge. (amazing music in this scene!)

Great episode, very good acting at most parts, good writing, great music and the usual minor glitches that one can ignore. And another plus is the awesome idea of showing us how things worked (more or less) 10 years ago.
  • Episode blunder on the opening scene!!

When Eric is driving the towtruck the barlights on top of the truck when the camera is in front the barlights are the slim LED type. But when he is backing up you get the front camera shot again and the barlights have changed to the bigger rotating lights. I guess the first towtruck had problems and had to bring in another towtruck. Now I don't think that the producers and director where not paying attention on this one. Unless they did it on pourpse to see if anyone whould notice. Well I will keep my eye out for more if these kind of blunders in the future.

  • I thought that this is the best episode of the TV Show.

You need to watch this! CSI: Miami is the best tv show you could ever watch. Even better that CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: NY, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order.

In CSI: Miami, we have , CSI Horatio Caine (Supervisor), CSI Calleigh Duqunese, CSI Eric Delko, CSI Ryan Wolff, and CSI Natalia Boa Vista. In every episode, Horatio Caine puts on his black glasses before the theme song goes, Yeeeeeeeah! That means that he is going to kick but. The best part about CSI: Miami is that Calleigh and Eric are finally dating. I have been waiting 7 years for it to happen. They are an awesome couple.
