A teenager goes missing and the team investigates the dark side of Miami's night club scene. Jennifer willson (the girl who's parents were killed by the closet guy) may be in trouble. Sarah's purse was dropped meaning she's still alive. The owner of the car hired his secretary to hide her purse. The friend lied and said she wasn't with Tina but she was with her on a boat until 5 and they went to a play ground and got more drunk and found her body in the bushes. Sarahs' parents put a hidden camera in her car. The other friend killed him.
  • An interesting storyline which was for the most part well handled.

Overall this episode was really good. The storyline was moving and well-written, apparently inspired by the Natalee Holloway case. There were a few flaws, but overall an episode which caught my interest.

I liked the fact that they dared to show the girl as flawed but not deserving of her fate. Especially since it was inspired by a real event they could have easily portrayed the victim, Sarah, as a person who never went over the top and did nothing to contribute to her own fate. On the other hand they could also have gone overboard in the other direction, painting her up as a teen out of control who just about asked to end up the way she did. Instead they chose the middle road. She was a party girl, made out with guys in the back of her car, had sex with people she didn't know... but she didn't deserve what happened to her. I really liked the fact that one of the CSI actually said something along the lines of her behaviour might have invited the perpetrator, and another CSI established that no matter how she acted nobody had the right to do that to her. Shining a light both on the fact that the way she acted can bring on people who do that to you, and the fact that it does not make the murder/rape okay.

The big downside to this episode was that there was too much focus on things that ended up useless in the end. Far too much screentime devoted to the storyline with the travel agency and the purse, which ended up having nothing to do with what happened in the end. Not that I don't like the fact that they investigate leads which turn out to be not as important as you might think, but this time around there was just too much focus on that lead. They also spent too much time around everything else concerning the car, as it turned out that after the car she went with her friend and partied for a long time, she did not disappear from her car.

I also thought that it was a bit over the top to have everything take place within the space of a day. That's the way it mostly is, most cases on all three CSI shows seem to be solved within 24 hours. I don't really get why they do that, each episode can technically span over a week, they are working far too fast for it to be logical.

But all in all it was a good episode, with a moving storyline. Not one of the best, but far from one of the worst.
  • Usual stuff.

Missing folk and boats have come up in CSI: Miami before. So this is a run of the mill episode. This episode, comes at a time when CSI: Miami has be revealed to be the most watched show around the world, above Lost and sister show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. This I find surprising given Miami's often perfectly good but not perfectly great consistency (Though the less said about the greater part of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation season six the better, the previous five still trounce Miami)

This week the case of a missing girl dominates showing how there is drinking inequality in that men can binge drink without critisism but women are taken to task for putting their safety at risk. It shows the danger of drugs and drinking. The focus seems slightly skewed to the Detective side of policing rather than the forensic side which is a shame as it sidelines the other CSIs and the assortment of lab techs that recur every few weeks.

The suspects this week were telegraphed, the red herrings obvious whilst the victims father raises questions about how far parents should watch their kids. It also seems unlikely that the victims friend would lie given the gravity of the situation.

Still for some mild entertainment this wasn't a bad episode.

I actually liked this episode. I thought it was very well put together and kept me guessing til the very end. I also liked seeing Samuel Page again. I have liked him ever since I first saw him on All My Children and then on the now-cancelled Point Pleasant. I can see the similarities to the Natalee Holloway case, but I don't see that as the CSI writers profiting from her disappearance at all. Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU use "ripped from the headlines" cases all the time. I think it keeps the shows real and current.

A good episode... with some interesting suspense going on while we do not know if the girl is alive or not...! The introduction of the suspect for the septfather is a bit obviuos but still worked.

Plus the mistery concerning Horatio starts to unfold.

Overall I find it a good series classic that kept people in the doubt until the end!
  • Were there any good guys on this show?

In the CSI: formula, there is usually at least one good guy in the mix. This good guy looks guilty for a certain part of the and later earns some type of redemption. In this episode, good guys are hard to come by. The victim is an under aged drinking party girl. Of course, this does not qualify her for murder, but it doesn't qualify her for sainthood either. Her best friend gets drunk, passes out, and lies to the police. Her step father is spying on her, and her mother is niave about her husband's obsession. The murderer and his friend pick up the victim at a club. The killer is a frustrated would be lover. The closest they come to a good guy is a the guy who finds her on the beach and misbuttons her blouse. Who were we supposed to be rooting for?

What could be considered a ripped from the Headlines story a girl goes missing while partying in Miami before heading on a cruise and then winds up going missing and later dead. Nice to see the whole crew working to find out what happened in the case. Stettler's still being a jerk to Horatio because of a case that Horatio was on in New York a few years back. I wonder if this will be a part of the big reveal from Horatio's past.
  • This type of storyline has been used over and over again in CSI: Miami, and it's getting old.

The unoriginal nature of this episode is why CSI: Miami will always play second fiddle to the original.

Young people who resemble Vogue models on a trip to Miami getting killed... a plot that rears it's head too many times in this series. Couple that with capitalizing the Natalie Holloway saga, this could be CSI: Miami's "Jump the Shark" season unless they come up with something new. Understanding that "ripped from the headlines" plots bode well for ratings, they also give subtle hints that the writers are straining for ideas.

After watching the opening scene of this episode taking place in a familiar setting -- a South Beach club, I knew this episode would be more of the same -- the wealthy Miami elite not getting along with each other. This doesn't add believability to the show, since I'm sure Miami's poor break the law just as often.

CSI: Miami, unfortunately is slowly being categorized into my "Perfect People TV" bin among the likes of "One Tree Hill" and "The OC". A TV show doesn't have to cast only the cream of the crop in human looks to be a success; just take a look at the original CSI. Ugly people can act too.
  • Dull characters, bad ending.

So Horatio continues calling every woman he sees for \"ma\'am\" and the constant annoying poses he still does (getting worse) and the guessing of who-did-what theories he comes up with are really not helping csi:miami it in its 4th season in my opinion. Wolfe just makes things even worse, if someone had told me what he was saying to the wife (will not go into detail) I would have beaten him into a pulp. Very weak characters in this episode, very lame ending.
  • This was actually a very powerful episode. To criticize it for any similarity to any events in real life is to miss the whole point of most of television.

If anything, while having the edge of drama and entertainment it also exposed an important truth, one that is bourne out in real life. There are dangerous situations that people should be careful not to put themselves in.

It was a strong message for young people to be careful about where they go, what they do and who they do it with. young people are vulnerable prey to all sorts of things and people. The killer was only one of many at fault.

The imppathy of the cast was strong and heartfelt.
  • Finally back to normal!

After having seen this episode of CSI Miami, I am happy to report that the style of filming is virtually back to normal. There is less slow motion and slowing down of film. This tended to be quite annoying in the previous two episodes.

On the other hand, the new "transformation" of Horatio is still present, this time protecting some girl of a case he couldn't solve a decade ago. I wonder whether there is going to be a conclusion to this open plot sometime in the future.

Generally, I must say that it is good to see that the filming is back to normal. Now, I can just hope that the plots return to their future genius and intensity.

If the writers of this episode even tried to veil the fact that this story was based on the tragic disappearance and likely death of Natalee Holloway, their efforts were sorely undetectable. Twenty minutes in to the show I had to turn it off. I can't believe the writers would make entertainment out of such a fresh, emotional and unsolved crime. Their choice was grossly insensitive. This is by far the worst episode they've yet done. The writers and producers ought to be ashamed of themselves for profiting off of this poor girl's disappearance and for pouring salt into her parents' fresh and open wounds.
