Episode Summary

EDIT
A murder investigation takes Horatio and the team into the world of speed dating. Richard Laken is found killed by a tire iron outside a lounge following an evening of speed-dating. The team discovers his car is covered with acetone, which traces back to one of the female guests. She reveals that she dated Laken and he dumped her, so she doused his car with nail polish remover for revenge, but she didn't kill him. Now, when Horatio and the team learn that Laken recently witnessed a serious assault at a Miami Heat basketball game, they are on the hunt for two perps instead of one.moreless

    The title says it KILLS!
  • Richard Laken is found dead outside a club known for "speed dating". Later it is revealed that Laken also witnessed a violent murder of a young teen while he was trying to protect his mother after a Miami Heat game.moreless

    9.0
This is, again, another testament to Horatio's character. Although he is focused on solving the crime, he is also genuinely concerned about a teen boy who was assaulted after a Miami Heat game while trying to protect his mother. Well, "H" is also a role model by trying to help the boy's mother to keep her hopes up for the healing of her son. He finds out who did it and solves the case (as usual) but takes it a step further by staying at the hospital as much as he can to make sure that the boy survives and that the mother has hope. I think we all find out that "H" has faith in God when we see, in the last scene, that he notices that the boy has a necklace with a cross on it in his hands. He tells the mother to go and get something to eat at the hospital cafeteria while he stays at his bedside to watch over him while she finally goes and gets something to eat. Just another fine example of how Horatio has sympathy (or even empathy because he lost his brother)for someone who is a stranger in a bad circumstance.moreless
  • Horatio does not save a child or a woman this time. His mission of the day is to find who seriously injuried a man who took him mom to a basketball game. It is a little out of the typical story line.moreless

    7.9
The story line about speed dating is quite a web. One woman is angry because a man that she thinks is her boy friend and wants a future with her is actually speed dating for easy sex.

This same woman has an ex-husband who is jealous of her dating. He left her after having three children together. She still looks great, but he seeks other woman.

Low and behold, one of the other guys at the speed dating event is linked to the seriously injured man from the basketball game. It is a very tangled web, but Horatio still has a chance to have a tender moment with the worried mother and the injured son.

    A good episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Horatio claimed he could feel the smell of Acetone when he was standing near the car. Acetone is far, far too volatile to be still on the car's hood. If there were Acetone left, it would have been quite large pool to let H feel it.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Female Suspect: I have a cat, that's hos they show affection.
Frank: Pick up any habits from them?

    • (Horatio has just caught a woman for murder)
Woman: The cruelty... he showed his true colors.
      Horatio: Now we've seen yours.

    • Horatio: Hang on there's a problem, take a look at that address.
Calleigh: 1126 Charthouse Drive, it's in the grove.
Horatio: Miami Beach Cafe wich is right on the water is at 1020 Charthouse right? So 1126 would probably make his front door out in the Atlantic wouldn't it?

    • (Alexx unveils a headless corpse on the table)
Ryan: Alexx... he doesn't have a head. Where did the head go?
(Alexx points towards a boiling pot)
      Alexx: I'm procesing it.
      Ryan: You're boiling it.

    • Club owner: This stuff is supposed to be confidential… You're putting me in a really bad position here.
      Horatio: That's my specialty.

  • NOTES (4)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • While watching the body being examined, Horatio says, "Dead men do tell tales." This is an allusion to a book published in 2001: "Dead Men Do Tell Tales: A 1933 Archeological Expedition Into Abyssinia" by Byron Khun de Prorok, Raymond C. Schindler.
