This is yet another great episode from the CSI family except for the bomb scene. What the hell was Horatio thinking! With 30 seconds to go he takes the time to untie the girl and then carrys her out anyway! And as for the bomb blast - oh please, how daft was that. Here we see our brave Horatio carrying the damsal in distress when the bomb goes off. Poor mere mortal Delko gets knocked on his ass but not our Horatio, oh no, he cooly walks away with barely a hair out of place! It was such a shame that they ruined a perfectly good episode ( I would have rated it 8.5 or 9 if it hadn't been for that scene).
In this episode of CSI: Miami, the following happens. A man, who was buried alive, is killed in a freak accident in a construction site. They soon learn that the victim was a Reverent, who was helping out kids in the neighbourhood. We learn at the end of the episode, that the one who killed the Reverent, was in fact one of the kids he was trying to help. He killed the Reverent, because he was told by the Rev. That if he turned his life around everything would be ok, but the kid couldn't get a job because of his record and blamed the Rev. For this. Overall a boring storyline, which I kind of fell asleep during.
I'm stunned. I actually watched this episode from start to finish and wasn't pained. The script was well written as well as plotted. A man wanting to save neighborhood kids from a violent life is murdered for his efforts. Horatio getting to the bottom of this discovers that his reputation has it's bright spots in his efforts to find a murderer. The script was believable from a frightened tipster, a gangster wanting to make good, ending with a team of CSIs realizing their efforts don't go unrecognized and are reminded that good guys do sometimes prevail over the bad guys.
The CSI team uncovers Mr. Michael Olvera who turns up to be a man devoted to preventing children from helping the local gang. Horatio saves a girl from an explosion set up by the main gang Craneos.
This episode was one of my favorites so far this season. Natalia got some more of the spotlight by helping a poor mother with not a lot of money get the proper burial for her deceased daughter. A girl named Yolanda was attacked by the gang. Horatio found her right before the bomb went off and saved her life. She also got paid for helping the team because she requested it and desperately needed it. Hector Salazar was a man who went against his own gang. He helped Horatio and then was later murdered. This goes to show that people can change. Overall, i thought this episode was above average. I am excited for the rest of the season.
This was certainly one of the better episodes of the season (not that they were bad). The story opens with the murder (doesn't it always start like that?) of a reverend, well known on his street for turning gang mambers and ex-cons straight. I was able to understand and clearly identify the story of the girl giving her tip to the police for the money, though it was very obvious that there were other motives behind that action. Otherwise they would not have used it in the show. Only rarely do we see casualties like that in pop culture.
I have to say, I was somewhat hoping that Horatio would be in the house when it exploded. But I imagine that after the shooting on the air strip, they want to dull Horatio down a bit. Though, him bursting through the door in search of the girl made me sit a little straighter in my seat. I really enjoy watching Horatio in action.
I was particularily drawn to the ending, of which consisted of the finding of the person who set the bomb off (it was unfortunate that Hector had to die), and the burial of Matteo's sister. Natalia really did that one good.
It was a really well written episode in my opinion. CSI: Miami finally gave Natalia a little more screen time and more of a heart. Also the explosion at the end was exciting, even though everyone knew that he was going to live. It was a heartwarming episode due to the fact they were able to get every gang member. That man dying to save the neighborhood was a change, being good and all, everyother person like that does something bad which just squashes their reputation. Though I don't know why Horatio could stay standing with a girl in his arms weighing him forwards and being close to the bomb, but Eric gets knocked on his but. Even with that it was still a really good episode and I can't wait for the next one, "Identity Crisis"
PS: anyone notice that they used that title on CSI in season 2.
