  • Great story and a better than average episode for this show.

    8.0
    "Great"
In my view this is a pretty good episode. A very good story, takes us full circle as the team evaluates the evidence and discounts likely suspects, to reach the real culprit at the end.

The usual high gloss finish of CSI:M is perforated by some over-the-top acting in some scenes, mostly from Caruso. There is still too many scenes where the tone or emotion plays out in a bipolar way, that just doesnt build up any tension or drama. Though at least the over-dramatic panoramic shots aren't as many.

Dialogue is fairly average, but at least it doesnt detract from whats going on, on-screen. There some scenes however that do fall quite flat, mainly due to the supporting cast playing the witnesses/suspects.

Ultimately though, the best things about this episode is the nature of the story, the chain of scenes building up to the finale as the team perform the investigation and the scenes at the petrol station and the car chase with Cali. Even if the roads where suspiciously devoid of traffic.

Still a good episode to watch if you want kill an hour or so.
  • As is usual with the TV and movie writers, science is not exactly their strong point.

As is usual with the TV and movie writers, science is not exactly their strong point. When Delco is examining the phone that had been converted into a stun gun, he said that it was 300 volts. In actuality, 300V would not produce an arc like he demonstrated. 300,000V would be more accurate.

Also, the cell phone did not need to be *converted* to be a stun gun -- there are companies that *make* stun guns that look like cell phones.

Also, when the trailer that was used to siphon gasoline was shown, there was a gasoline powered pump in it. If someone was using a gasoline powered pump inside a trailer like that, they would have to worry about carbon monoxide poisoning unless it was vented outside. At the very least, it would make enough noise that someone would notice.

This sort of theft has happened though, but the criminals use electric powered pumps, not gasoline powered ones.
  • A burning body runs through a beach party and dies on the beach. We learn that the victim was part of a crime ring that was stealing gasoline. Later it's revealed that the crime ring is also connected to human trafficking.

We finally get to see the new M.E and I have to say it was love at first sight. She seemed different that the typical M.E.'s we see on the TV, and I'm hopping to see her soon again. I also really liked Ryan's new, more relaxed style, even though it was little noticeable after all the suits. Hopefully it means that he's getting some new story lines, 'cause I'm a big fan of Ryan. Actually, it's hard for me to say what I didn't like about this episode. The script was well written and it was easy to just enjoy the ride. There were so many twists that you really couldn't tell who was the guilty guy. It was also a nice change that Horatio was more involved in the case, instead of just talking to the suspects. I hope that it's a permanent change.
  • Good opening.....

In this episode of CSI Miami the following happens. A burning body runs through the tent of a beach party and drops dead metres away from the ocean. The new M.E. believes that an accelerant was all over the victim's body. We soon learn that the victim and one f hi college friends, wee stealing Gas from cars. The team soon have a licence plate on the car they believe was involved in the death of the victim. Calliegh sees the car and chases after it. She gets cut off, but when she catches up to it, it has already caught on fire. It has been ditched and torched. We learn that the victim was killed after he was stunned with a stun gun. He went up in flames due to the gas he had been stealing. We learn that the host of the party on the beach is the person who has been trafficking women.

Okay, so I have to ask - are the denizens of Miami's beach party scene really so self-involved that not one would assist someone on fire, but merely stand there doing nothing but looking appalled? I think I'd be insulted by that.

We didn't get into the colour of the day til a little later, since of course the beach party motif requires dressing in all white (after Labout Day?? How shocking!) but they're rerunning the green theme, with touches of yellow thrown in just for a little variety. Calleigh's tendency to wear high heels at the sandy beach still leaves me bemused, however.

Though the summary of the story appeared to seem timely, considering the world's gas woes, it's rather misleading, and I found it rather uninteresting. Calleigh's being a ditz, letting Wolfe find the key piece of evidence from the burned Escalade, and the new ME - is it me, or does she seem a little young for the part? I spent the first half of the ep watching it upside down from the floor while I played with my dog, and couldn't be bothered to watch it over again.

H's little dramatic reveal at the end was rather cool, I will admit - probably the best part of the episode.
  • Gas and Organized crime, a hot combination.

This episode takes the show back to it's procedural roots with no romance and a pretty interesting case. The death of a valet who was found burned to death near a beach party is linked to a an organized crime syndicate specializing in stolen gas. The case takes an interesting twist when it's discovered that the leader of the operation is linked to human trafficing, using young woman as a means of distracting unsuspecting gas station attendants. Despite a bit of silliness in the storyline, it's nice to know that Horatio is always one step ahead of the criminals. The script was focused and the acting was good. Hopefully, the show is heading for it's best season yet.
  • People are hi-jacking gas.

Didnt we see a similar storyline a couple of seasons back where a guy was stealing gas from boats? Anyhoo, it wasn't a bad episode. We got to meet the new M.E. (I STILL MISS ALEXX!) and she seemed kinda flirty with Delko. I was hoping Ryan would have a love interest this season, maybe he will. I guess I am one of the ones who is dying to see some Calleigh/Eric action. I was a bit disappointed not to see/hear from Julia and Kyle but I am sure they will turn up again on down the road as will Ron. Can't wait!
  • A beach party is crashed by a human fireball. The team's investigation of this crime leads them to an organized crime operation involving the theft of gasoline and something even worse.

This episode certainly began in a way that grabs the viewer's attenetion. No argument there. This episode is not one of the show's best, but it's entertaining to say the least. The opening scene could have been better. Everybody at the party seemed to have a subdued reaction to a man burning to death running through the party. There were too many close up reaction shots in that scene as well. I do like where the story went though. One thing the "CSI" shows do well is that the keep you hooked and guessing as to how things will end.
  • Calliegh does have some competition!

Well the new ME that replaced Alexx is ok. And seems pretty likable. But I want my Alexx back. As she was the voice of reason and conscience to not just the people at the lab. But the cops also. Really miss her. Now to the crime scene. People are stealing gas over a buck. And that it also involves murder. People do some really crazy things these days. In order to get a quick buck. Like getting away with murder. Plus Latin young women promised freedom. Only to work for it. Not good but not bad. The characters held up well!
  • Yes, I keep tuning in.

Okay, this episode wasn't bad. The two cases being connected on the fringes I thought was a big reach. The case with stealing gas was really believable because we see it in the headlines on a daily basis. Same as the smuggling or bringing girls into the US for illicit purposes was pretty close to what happens. Although the final scene I thought was cliche, Horatio suddenly appearing as the girls separated telling Parker the game is over. As always Horatio coming to the rescue of the young and innocent. I like the new ME, very spunky. Maybe Calleigh's got some competition.
  • After watching last nights episode, I was glad I watched it. And, it's kinda scary with gas prices the way they are how something like that could happen, and some has happened!!

Last night's episode was another great installment for this series. People stealing gas to make a quick buck, getting latin american girls to come to this country legally and then spreading the gas theft across the country, a little over the top, but nonetheless a good episode. I guess it could happen, but it was filled with great action, mystery. Not the best ep of Miami, but pretty close. I would have to say so far this season is going to be great, maybe even the best season yet. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride, and enjoy!!
