Mac: In the play, both Romeo and Juliet end up dead. Makes me wonder why our Juliet is still alive. Stella: I don't know, but there has to be more of a connection between Romeo and Juliet than a hickey.
Danny: A battered spouse. Hawkes: You ever know a woman with a broken nose and capped teeth who wasn't?
Stella: Come on, Mac, you've got to admit this is kind of cool. I have never been this close to an elephant before!
Mac: The stereotype is that kids run away from home to join the circus. Where do kids already in the circus go?
Flack: You got to be one lucky son-of-a-bitch to get a body out of a fifth-floor apartment without anyone noticing. Danny: Yeah, but it takes a lot more than luck to pull off a murder.
Stella: Until now, I never really believed people were double-jointed. Mac: They're not. There's no such thing as double-jointed, it's just people with very loose tendons and muscles.
Jason Cartey: I am not a criminal. Flack: Yes. You are. We're just trying to figure out what kind.
Flack: Both the super and the downstairs neighbour say they haven't seen her in over a week. Danny: Yeah, well, that don't mean anything. I've lived in my apartment over three years now, my neighbors don't recognize me. Flack: Better hope you don't go missing, pal.
(They lift out what they thought was a trunk from the sand) Stella: That's not a trunk. It's a box! Mac: It's not a box. It's a coffin.

Episode Title: Blood, Sweat & Tears. Blood Sweat & Tears was a band that formed in the late 1960s and had hit songs such as Spinning Wheel and And When I Die. The origin of the phrase, however, is a misquotation from Sir Winston Churchill's famous speech during WWII, where he said "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat". This somehow morphed into "blood, sweat and tears" - a description of someone putting their all into a project or task.
