  • Too emotional!

I was counting down the days until season 6 finally started. I was so excited to see what happened after the shooting in the last episode of season 5. The open end of the final episode was killing me, but I also loved it at the same time. All kinda possibilities were running through my head what would happen in the first episode of season 6, who would die and who would get injured!? I guess my excitement about season 6 was way too strong to be judgmental when I watched "Epilogue." I thought it was a good episode. After I watched it a second time, I realized how boring it actually was. I mean, season 5 was really one of the best ones I have seen so far! The cases were awesome, the characters were brilliant as usual and everything seemed to harmonize with each other. I am very disappointed about the outcome of "Epilogue." There was no thrilling moment, nothing that made you die of curiosity what would happen next. It just seemed way too emotional to me as the first episode seemed to be that much focused on the characters and their personal lives. There's nothing wrong with that, but CSI:NY is that successful because of its imaginary cases. I feel like the healthy balance of the characters and the cases is somewhat lost and it all turned into a big soap opera!

This was a great episode, I have been waiting for this season and I was not dissapointed. Loved seeing Mac frustrated with the case, especially when he looks at Danny's badge, if it wasn't because I knew Danny was alive I would have been crying thinking he died. I am a DL fan so seeing them together was like chocolate to me. I am glad the incident brought them closer together and not ripped them apart. Loved Flack, always so handsome, and in the black sweater even hotter. Stella and Adam, I don't know yet, I'll have to see how it is developed and then I'll have an opinion. I missed Angel but other than that, awesome episode. Especially the end.
  • *** Spoiler-free *** Well designed procedural investigation, captivating chaotic story, some inspiring characters, convincing acting and fascinating teamwork

I discovered the show with Death House, the 10th episode. In my review I mentionned how impressed I was by the puzzling story, polished investigation and of course Gary Sinise convincing performance as Mac. However it took me a while to decide wether or not its other episodes deserved my attention. Indeed I worried that its episodic format would be as disappointing as in other shows like Castle for example. Moreover in the last what save some episodes are the irresistible protagonists, Kate and Castle, when even if I liked Mac I didn't relate to him nor find the other characters really interesting. Well now that I've seen this pilot I admit that designing a show around procedural investigations is not necessarily a mistake.

First the story was captivating and I really like how the characters seemed in distress and worried. Sinise was excellent as an obsessed Mac because his after shooting investigation had leaded him nowhere. Moreover it's like if the team had lost faith when people should help each other when chaos takes over. But hopefully his partners were there to remind him that he wasn't alone. In fact a new character triggered a chain of events that motivated them to finally catch the shooters. So the story was intriguing and inspiring. I specially felt for the guy in the wheelchair because the actor did a great job. You could feel how desperate he was and the situation wasn't easy for his girlfriend either. Did they find the strength to go on or things got worse ?

Beside the story and character development I was really impressed by how the investigation was written and designed. In Death House I noticed the gadgets but this time it was more about the patterns, clues and all these tiny details that could help them solve the case. From bloodstain pattern analysis, that reminded me of Dexter, to crime and shooting reconstructions I kept thinking how cool and smart it was. In fact the tracking was fascinating and I instantly that it would be interesting to work for them. It's amazing and inspiring what their heterogeneous and complementary skills allowed them to achieve. Mac's female partner knife theory was specially creative and the flashbacks were very helpful to better picture what happened because some explanations were technical.

All these great elements contributed to make this pilot a success. The story itself wasn't spectacular but it was twisted enough and well written. With such a strong foundation it's not surprising the show reached its 6th season. And with more original scripts, apparently delivered in some episodes, it should definitely be a must watch.
  • This is more of a question than a review.

Could somebody plz tell me the name of the song in this episode, and who sings it? It was a beautiful song, and I would like to try to find it. I thought it very sad that the sister lost her life to save her brother, and then he was not able to be saved in the end. I think maybe if he had've been it may have been just a bit better, showing that a sisters love by giving her life meant something.Such a sad episode, waiting for more. I also almost cried when Dannys feet moved, and it started raining as well, boy that 10% really got to me.
  • The sixth season begins one month after the events of the season five finale. Danny, temporarily confined to a wheelchair due to injuries sustained in the shooting at the bar, gets help in the case from an unlikely source.

The season did get started on a positive note. I did like this episode. It was well made and acted, but it does have it's problems. Hearing Flak saying that he needed to get back to work so soon after Detective Angel's death has been heard on this show before (Stella said pretty much the same thing after being attacked by her psychotic boyfriend.). Mac's dialogue with Stella in Mac's office seemed too contrived to come off as genuine. The part that revealed Adam and Stella are sleeping together was not really necessary. I guarantee they will do it again.
  • Good episode.

I'm really loving the 9-11 cop drama block as you have Law and Order: Special Victims Unit on NBC at 9, followed by CSI: NY on CBS at 10.

While this was a good episode of CSI: NY, it was pretty hard to follow the strong season premiere of SVU. The difference between the two shows is that on SVU it is usually non-stop action, while there are points where CSI drags on a little.

But this was a pretty explosive finale, and outside of the random people designated as killers, a pretty good episode. I'd also like to see Sarah Carter, who played Helen, the woman who one-upped Andrew, come on as a permaenent character.
  • One of the best season's opener....

    I've absolutely loved it!!

The case was good: People trying to get NY to have fear although it doesn't end very clear why they did it and what they wanted... Flack: Is drowning his pain in alcohol AND women... I kinda hoped it was just alcohol.. But he looks AMAZING with casual clothes... I have the feeling he is gonna get a major kick a** soon, thoguh...:)

Mac: We have the taciturn Mac back... this case is been eating him for the last month, as always he does an amazing job.

Stella: Looks beautiful as ever, smart, supportive with MAc and kinda embarrassed of what happened with Adam but she doesn't regrets it!

Adam: He seems like the awkward tech is not there anymore!:( He was really confident through all the chapter wich is good but... Maybe that's the effect after one night with Stella.

HAwkes: He is double working?? As if the lab itself isn't stressfull enough...

Sid: Very little moments but good as always!:)

And... The MESSERS: You should have seen me shout YAY! when he called her MONTANA!! It seems like they read us!! I wanted it back so bad!!:D THe first scene is so cute, and even the one where Lindsay discovers he lied about the %of recovery it's great too. It seems that, eventhough the lie, the accident had brought them closer. And the last scene with the rain and Danny moving a foot is amazing!! I almost cried!!:)

Just a little note: Am I the only one that didn't believe for a second that Adam and Stella thing is going to be just a one night thing?? I didn't believe at all they conversation.... And they don't regret it, that's for sure!:)

New girl HAylen? I don't like her already... too obnoxious...

First of all, I'm so glad my favorite tv show is back, together with Criminal Minds. I really like this episode. It's unpredictable. I never thought some guys who wanted attention of authorities would do the shootings. I thought they might be past suspects from previous episodes. The technology used is awesome! There are still questions in my mind left unanswered. Maybe we'll get to know more about them within the season. I like the scene between Adam and Haylen! They would be good rivals! I'm just shocked with Adam/Stella thing. I hope it's the first and last time. They're just trying to recover from the shooting and Angell's death. The whole episode caught my interest. Job well done CSI: NY!
  • A shocking episode that made me cry in within the first 10 minutes. spoiler alert.

SPOILER ALERT: Wow. In the season finale I was PRAYING for some Danny angst, but i really didn't know what I was wishing for. Seeing Danny Messer, my favorite character since the beginning, imprisoned in that chair, broken and barely able to do what he loves best, it made me cry so hard! It was most likely hormones, but in the beginning of the episode, when it showed what all the characters were doing, I almost didn't notice they left out one, until Mac looks at Danny's badge. This is when i freaked out. i love him so much and we all know he'll be walking by May. Oh, and what is Adam doing sleeping with STELLA? I had to pause there for a second and take it in. Goshhh, Jerry Bruckheimer.
