Girls, don't panic yet! remember that this season just has 18 chapters instead of the usual 21-22 chapters so it's normal that we get longer breaks that shows with FULL seasons! And I believe that we always ger more or less 6 weeks off every March...

They didn't give a reason... They ordered just 18 chapters instead of the usual 22...

I think other shows have shorter seasons as well (I think Parenthood does too, for instance). I thought there might be a reason. Thank you

Maybe there was but I can't remember one... My guess? They ordered 18 chapters just to decide what to do with the show after a few of them: If ratings were great they could always order a few more, if ratings were ok they could produce an almost full season (18chapters) and they save the money they would have cost them this other 4 chapters, if ratings are really bad they end after 18 chapters and give fans an almost full last season...
I think that we are in option 2, ratings are good but we still are on limbo... I guess it's gonna be like last year, we won't know if we get another season until April-May...

has anyone heard anything about it getting renewed? cause i sure haven't. though in the latest issue of tv guide for "Miami" since they only have the finale left to air next week, since they haven't heard any word yet on getting renewed they this time played it smart & it won't have a clfif-hanger like it normally does. i hope they don't leave this season for NY with a cliff-hanger either.

just in case it doesn't get renewed either. anyways even though i do HATE that they only made 18 episodes this season oddly. & only 19 for "Miami" i'd rather have these crappy numbers than no show at all ya know?

I don't think any official word is out so I guess they'll do like last year and write some kind of wrapping up episode. In my opinion they did a decent job with the season 7 finale. And I'm with you, whatever we get is better than nothing at all

I agree twin TV Line still has it on the bubble at their scorecard, but I somehow doubt they would axe two CSI shows in one year

Edit: Okay now Tv line and even Gary (via Twitter) confirmed the renewing too, it seems pretty safe
