Ok I liked the teaming of Aiden with Mac and Danny with Stella. Aiden and Mac just seemed to keep each other on their toes and thinking the same thoughts. Danny and Stella worked well together. But Stella still seems to be keeping Danny on track. I thought the aspect of the "turn tabliest" was kinda different. I like the perspectives from both Mac & Aiden. The script and case were predictable but they were okay. Now the blow fish poisening murder was really different. I liked how they made the murder be the previous personal assistant. A definite interesting twist.
This was a good episode in my opinion. I've rewatched it about 3 times in the past week and it still interests me. There is funny dialogue used in this episode that cracked me up, mainly from Mac and Danny. The crime story was unpredictable and kept my eyes glued to the TV.
Case #1-Mac and Aiden investigate the stabbing of a grand master outside of the club. When I saw who the killer was of DJ Banner I was surprised and I didn't expect it to be him. I thought for sure it was DJ Francais after the incident on stage.
Case #2-Meanwhile, Stella and Danny are investigating what looks to be an ordinary victim of drowning, which later reveals otherwise. They find she was exposed to Blowfish poisoning, but there was no trace of it found in her home. They expand their searches and it leads back to the sushi resturaunt.
A true CSI connection. The fact that CSI has brought the character Disco Placid (into another CSI and remembered his connection to Las Vegas) was brilliant. I loved Disco Placid in the CSI episode Anonymous. It was brilliant.
The Case A, The DJ competition was great. It was cool to see some of the underlife of NY before bad things happen. It was just a normal thing, and it’s interesting to see how the “grand masters” come to be. It was very sad to see that the man who ended up killing DJ Banner was his own friend. Because he was angry and jealous that Banner signed with someone else. He didn’t even wait to hear an explanation. He killed him. In the end, it turned him into the man he tried to protect Banner from. What I loved about this case was that you immediately think its DJ Francais who did it. Because of what happened with his girlfriend at the battle. Then the evidence seems to point that way, because of the blood on the shoe. But in fact, we are wrong, as more evidence proves.
Of course I loved seeing Master P as Vick, the man who forced DJ Banner to sign a contract with him. It was funny to see him holding a man upside down to sign a contract. It was a bit amusing to see the man from Romeo do something like that. (maybe the only unbelievable part of the story).
I loved seeing Mac come up with empty hands so what does he do? He goes back to the crime scene. He went back to the scene a multiple amount of times, and it was wonderful to see his dedication to a crime.
The Case B with the woman sushi tables freaked me out. I understand that in Japan they view this as art, and I am sure it is considered art by many people. The human form is a beautiful thing, but we all know here in a situation where it is at a restaurant, in NYC, it isn’t meant to be considered art. We can tell this especially when we see Gayle licking the toes of her table. It’s not about appreciating art there, it’s about objectifying women, literally. The woman is turned into an object (a table). (And of course her objectification was not only at the sushi restaurant but life, as we find out Ms. Gayle fired the waitress when she used to be her assistant, because she wouldn’t sleep with Ms. Gayle).
This episode, while not horrible, was not great. The cases should have been more interesting as the deaths themselves were creative. However, I found it hard to really get into this episode. There was no witty dialogue, no superb acting. This episode could have been really good but somehow, altogether, it just didn't work properly.
Some of the ideas and concepts in this episode were good, such as the novelle form of sushi restaurant shown, though the concept of paying $500, more than my rent, for a single meal is astounding, though that truly speaks to the character of the victim. The DJ case just didn't seem that fascinating. It might have been better if they had developed the victim's character a bit more so that there was some emotion being felt by the viewers at his deah.
