CSI: NY Season 3 Episode 11

This episode shows the return of Shane Casey after he escaped from prison.It was even better than the first Shane Casey episode.Hawkes finds himself in trouble when he gets framed for a robbery and a murder and everything points to it been him so Mac and the team are pulled off the case with nothing to go off.A part of me actually thought that Hawkes was guilty because I couldn't see how it couldn't of been him until Mac finds out that Shane Casey is involved and he wants Hawkes to go to jail like his brother.Shane agrees he will give them the gun that will clear Hawkes only if they can prove that his brother didn't commit the murder he was arrested for.This was a very entertaining episode.

I like how the writers of this episode took a predictable story (it's painfully obvious Sheldon is innocent) and made it into a very entertaining and well written thrill ride. Fifteen years after Terminator 2: Judgement Day Edward Furlong shows here that he is still a good actor capeable of a top notch performance. He is perfectly cast as Shane Casey. Carmine Giovanazzo continues to get better with each episode. This episode is his best to date. Finally, I hope Peyton and Mac's relationship is not over. It is defintely a highlight of the season and should continue.

CSI: NY fricking rules, man. When I first read that Hawkes was a suspect in a murder, I thought that it was going to be a clichéd plot. Well, when you think about it it was, but the way they delivered it was fricking AWESOME!! Lol I love what danny said to the Chief, "Bring it on, Grandpa, I'll show a thing or two about what this science geek can do!"





Then Mac locking the door to talk to Hawkes was so naughty. I don't know if I've said this before but Mac seems to be taking his old anger from Danny to Hawkes. I think he needs to see a counsellor or something to take about his dating situation, or lack there of now, so he and Peyton can get back together and get can get his frustration out.





Poor Danny, Shane really struck a cord when he mentioned Danny bro, Louie. I wouldn't have been surprised if he shot Shane for what he said. But luckily, he kept his head of straight and made Shane realize his bro was guilty, which I'm glad he was otherwise this plot wouldn't have been great.

The return of Shane Casey. It’s unbelievable. We knew he’d be back as we can all remember when As the episode goes on, we KNOW Hawkes couldn’t have done it. But how is the evidence pointing in this direction? There is nothing else we can think of. We grasp at straws, hoping it’s a mistake or that he was framed. But as gunshot residue is found on his sleeves we worry. How will they reveal his innocence? It is until the CSIs show us step by step by “interrogating” an invisible Hawkes that we realize it, right before they say it, for ourselves. “He was framed.” And the way? It’s exactly like a case in the not so distant past. The case of Shane Casey’s brother. Now that they have got it under control, it’s only a matter of time until they figure out who did it.





Now, while we are positive in our minds that Hawkes will get off. He WAS framed after all, the question remains, what will happen to Shane Casey? Will they catch them? The situation isn’t helped by the CSI: Q they ask. The mystery intensifies.





This episode has all the classic elements of a mystery. There is a case of mistaken identity; there is a case of whodunit. But in this case, we know whodunit, we know who didn’t do it. What we don’t know is how they can prove the truth. The case B of this episode is almost entirely forgotten between the drama of Shane Casey. You even forget for a moment of Tom and his showgirls (yes those places still exist- Giuliani didn’t get rid of all of them.) Then we find out for sure what we’ve been thinking all along, Shane was somehow involved with this one as well.





The moment we get the message, “Send Messer. Alone.” Is when I freak out. We know how Danny can be. Last week Lindsay got bitten, we don’t need Danny shot this week. And through the quake of Danny’s voice we hope he can get Shane to see the truth about his brother. The ring on the bartender’s finger proves it (A great way to damn a man. Like the handkerchief in Othello, we have the ring in Raising Shane- it proves BOTH brothers’ guilt.)





All throughout the season we've had tiny little explosions from the characters, when emotions ran a little high. But here, we got to see what happened when it was one of their own. The Vegas series has always shown rather calm waters with occasional (and may I add hot) outbursts- from the guys, Warrick, Nick and even Grissom. (Yes Grissom has had his non-cool days) And while there have been outburst episodes on CSI: NY I don't believe any could hold a match to this one.





It shows how much everyone is on needle points. It also shows the very essence of being a CSI- you can't HELP but help. No matter if you've been called off the case or not, or whether you have to keep the name of the lab clean (Mac) or not, you try your damndest to help. The scene with Mac in the interrogation room with Hawkes, one of the best I have seen. The EXPLOSIONS from all of them when he gets in there was amazing. It was a cacophony of words and yelling. It was wonderful to see them so emotional. There was so much care taken to save the name of one of their own. The end where Stella comes and takes a hold of Hawkes as he is let out, is one of the most heartwarming I have seen. Halfway through the season, we can only hope the other half will be this good. So far, it has proven to be so.





On a side shipper note- Danny and Lindsay had a moment together!!!! SEVERAL!!!!!!!!!

This is not one of my favourite episodes, although it has several scenes I love. I don't like the way everyone in the force seems to be against Hawkes from the beginning. It also strike me as forced the way everyone in the lab keeps bristling against being ordered out of the case, when they know very well they couldn't work on it. It seems the writers want it to look like it's personal, some kind of grudge inside the force against Hawkes or Mac's team. To me, it just sounded over. Shane Casey is back, and he's crazy as ever. That's a given. Did we have to have a scene like the one in which Shane Casey wants to meet Mac in a busy building, and all of the cops in NY won't be able to catch him? Such a cliché! They could have had their little conversation by phone without the field expedition, but it's important to make viewers remember how cunning and smart and impossible to arrest Shane Casey is. Another overdone part, for me. And it is also a bit tiresome that all the crazy psycho killers have this insurmountable wish to meet the cops face to face, and so many crazy psycho killers are committing their heinous crimes in order to clear someone else's name. On the other hand, this episode portrays the friendship and loyalty among the CSIs, the way they stand for each other in their time of need and never give up trying to prove what's right, and the way they work together, each one's work complementing the others'. This episode also has some first quality scenes with some characters. Danny gets several, first getting all indignant and angry at the crime scene, facing off Gerrard, then going against the rules with the witness, in a scene where he actually has a point in what he says, for once, and is not just going with his gut feeling. In another perfect moment, Danny defines himself: "I didn't break any rules, all right? I just bent them a little bit, but I didn't break them."


Stella gets her share of perfect scenes, a serious one, where she faces off Gerrard and gets all protective of her team, and a funny one with the peep show owner. Mac is another character who gets memorable scenes. One is his reaction in regard to Peyton when Stella comes in; I love the guy, but right then I could slap him. Another is the almost scary way he remembers everything from the other case, remembering how every detail of each case match, was almost scary. The moments when I sighed and thought "here we go again" were more frequent than the ones when I smiled and thought "yeah, great scene". But all in all, it was good watching it again.

*I love Mac, Flack and Stella's face when they saw that the guy identified Hawkes as the shooter!





*Gerrard being a pain in the a**. I love Danny's comeback 'Why don't we step outside, Grandpa, and I show you what kind of Geek I am'... Stella puting order and defending her team and Flack trying to fight an smile!





*I miss wisea** Danny... at the dialogue with Stella about the porn movie!!





*Tom and Stella moment is hilarious too!!

*Hawkes interview with the lawyer was awesome!





*MAc sneeking out to talk to Hawkes was great too. And Flack defending him, amazing.... *OMG, Flack's tie is awful again!!





*Peyton and Stella banter is intense... In fight Stella would win...





*Danny calling Lindsay Montana.... I miss that.... And they are standing really close and..... SQUEE!!!

All in all an amazing chapter...

The two cases (well in fact it was only one) were really interesting.


Even though I already knew that Shane would be part of this Episode (thanks to my TV Guide) the story was thrilling. The whole time the evidence pointed against Hawkes and I had no idea how they manage to proof his innocence. Well luckily Shane had, even though there was his condition. I was surprised that his brother really committed the crime he was arrested for and wasn't innocent like Shane was persuaded he was. It was quite interesting to see how everyone in the team handled the situation. I loved Danny trying to help Hawkes by talking to the eyewitness. Mac becoming enraged while talking to Hawkes and being lead away by an officer was good, too. And he calling Peyton Claire was kind of funny (Well not for her). Stella meeting Hawkes when he was checked out was a great ending.

When I first watch the episode "Hung Out to Dry", I find really hard to understand the episode (probably because I'm Chinese?). As more investigaton goes on, they found their killer-Shane Casey. But he escapes in the end. However, he returns and framed Hawkes for murdering a woman.





This episode is so MUCH better than "Hung Out to Dry" (I can understand this episode better). This is one of the best episode in this season. The scene where Casey and Mac are at the elavator is my favourite in this episode. I LOVE this episode. I just love it. This is one of the best episode so far after the episode "Not What It Looks Like".





I realize something, both of this episode (with "Not What It Looks Like") is written by Pam Veasey. Clearly she is a talented writer.

I knew it!! When I first read what the title of this episode was, I knew it was going to be something about Shane Casey so when they tried to pin Hawkes, I knew who was really behind it all. I absolutely loved Danny in this episode. He was trying to protect Hawkes and get him out of jail because he is totally awesome. And I really dislike that Captain Gerard guy, he was so rude. Don was very awesome in this episode as well. I liked how they didn't reveal that it was Shane until around the middle of the episode and how they revealed him. I also liked how it wasn't just Mac that interacted with Shane, but Danny as well. The whole "battin' for your brother" thing was really cool.

A surprised Sheldon gets arrested for murder while out for a late night jog. He vows that he's innocent but the evidence is all against him. The whole group are certain that he's innocent but there is nothing they can do but wait and see because they are pulled of the case. Then, an old "friend" shows up and reveals the truth...


Amazing episode! The moment the cops pull Sheldon's hood back and we find out that it's him was so shocking! I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. I think that the acting in the episode was great too. Two thumds up guys!

Okay so this epi was no doubt one of the besat epis of the series acting and storyline wise.


we start off with sheldon being accused of murder of a bartender but of course he is being set up by shane casey who is stiull trying to prove his brothers innocence.


the scene in this epi that had me shouting at the tv like a crzy person was when mac went up in the elevator to get shane casey and he was hiding in the food cart thing and all it was all i could do not to shake the telly.


so mac and stella proved that shane's brother did infact commit the murder of the bartender and danny goes to tell shane this and to get the gun to prove sheldons innocence and fianlly shane is arrested and sheldon is freed from jail

It is dificult to describe how great this episode was!!! Incredible!!! Hawkes being arrested for armed robbery and murder, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it!!!! Danny was a real pall, gettin all worked up by the situation, he knows how it fells to be a suspect... Stella was great too keeping coll and focusing on her new case.


I fel so bad for Peyton... Mac was a real jerk with her, and it wasn't the first time... she's forgiven him before, but this time she was totally right to dump him! She dosen't deserve to be trated like that, hving to sneak around , hide her feelings for him from everybody else, they have done notthing wrong and are both adults, single and free to date each other, so they shouldn't have to hide it!!!

This episode had some different avenues but stuck to one theme which was great. I loved the team having a different perspective. It sucks having your hands tied and feeling helpless. But the Shane Casey twist was awesome. We knew he would come back, we just didn't know how or when. I like how the recent episodes have been subtly linked together. The underlying subplots keep me coming back. The writing was tops, as always. We found out Hawkes runs to relax. They keep giving us hints of whats to come - - which can be a spoiler if they give too much information.

Okay, so this review is better late than never. With new episodes finally on the horizon, I thought I should catch up with my reviews.





I knew that Shane was the one who set Hawkes up. I just knew it. And after Stella said that there was GSR in the OD vic's nose, I knew he'd been the real shooter. This was one of the many times I wish the characters on my TV could hear me shouting, "He's the guy! He did it!" But alas, they're not real, and couldn't hear me all the way in Arizona.





The whole Shane thing was nervewracking. His normal act in 3x04 was apparently just that. An act. He was extremely psycho, creeped Sugah out. He even looked demented, except for that scene when he appeared at the prison as Hawkes's attorney, and excuse me... But wouldn't they have recognized him? He's got warrants out the wazoo - he killed two people in grossly horrific ways - surely there are pictures of him somewhere? I just don't understand how he managed to even get in.





His escape at the hotel... Again, screaming at my TV. "He's in the silver thing!" They never listen. And of course he wants them to prove his brother's innocence, and what happens? They only manage to confirm his brother's guilt.





That scene at the bar with him and Danny... I swear I didn't breathe when that message came up that said Shane wanted to see Danny alone. Did. Not. Breathe. Swear to god. I knew that whole thing at the end of 3x04, where Danny was semi-relating to Shane wanting to help his brother, was going to come back to bite Danny on the ass. And he sounded so scared walking into that bar. Not his usual tough guy self. And when Shane had the nerve to mention Louie... I wanted Danny to shoot him. I really did. But he didn't. Good for him.





Carmine Giovinazzo deserves an Emmy for that scene. Seriously.





Oh, and are we to infer from this that Louie is dead? Are they ever going to tell us?





Ha, ha! Peyton totally dumped Mac! That was great! I'm sorry, I don't like them as a couple. And she totally should have dumped him, too. First he pushed her away, then he called her by his dead wife's name. I was kind of hoping she'd slap him.





What was Danny thinking, going to talk to the bouncer? And of course, Mac the hypocrite yelled at him for it, even though he broke a bunch of rules going to talk to Hawkes when he was taken off the case.





And of course... must comment on the D/L. Excellent in this episode. Not only did they acknowledge each other's existence, but they were in the same room more than once. They spoke to each other. Danny called her Montana, for the first time in weeks. The whole scene about the OD vic's "undies" *giggles* was so cute. Them in the break room together... Lindsay's reaction when Mac made Stella and Danny leave. And how Danny argued to stay. It wasn't about Hawkes, it was about Danny wanting to stay with Lindsay.





In my opinion, one of the best episodes of the season so far. It had everything - a good plot, compelling character storylines... I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Shane Casey came back with a vengeance, didn't he?? It was very ingenious how he set up Dr. Hawks with the murder. The clothing, the GSR, and the timimg was excellent. I always like Edward Furlong. He was young John Connor in Terminator II: Judgement Day. It is great to see that his career is enjoying a resurgenace. Emotions were very high between the CSI team and the Captain. I almost thought we were watching CSI: Criminal Scene Investigation.





I figured Peyton and Mac would break up eventually. He still seem like he is not over the death of his wife. Also, he has a step son now, which may complicate things. The scene between Danny and Shane was absolutely fabulous, especially since they both are similar in the fact that they wanted to protect their older brothers. Danny was about to break down but he showed the photograph of the ring, proving that Shane's brother actually murdered the bartender. Did anyone noticed in the end when Hawkes was released, Stella was there and they hugged and walked away with their arms around each other? I wonder if they have something going on? And I hope Danny and "Montana" get together.

Let me just first say, amazing storyline! I absolutelly loved it. I just felt so bad for Sheldon. He didn't disserve any of what Shane did to him. He is a great character and it almost seems that they are aiming toward writing him off. I could be wrong but first he says he's a docter-he's an ex surgeon-then they put him through this. I was ticked off but I loved it either way. I loved how each character reacted when they were kicked out of the crime scene all the way up until the end when Stella went to Rikers to get Sheldon. It was just an all around good episode. I hope we get more story lines that are as amazing as this one was!

Shane Casey is back and framing Sheldon, the extend people do to others just to make their lives miserable, hope it's only fiction. The episode went past half time uneventful and dull , some evidence were lame, like GSR on Hawke's sleeves, and the wild goose chase in the buildings. But, things were spiced up by Danny who went face to face with Shane, that was a terrific scene and intensive. In the end, it's all about the ring. Edward Furlong did well for a small but disturbing character Shane. There should be more of these powerful scenes in this season.

Loved the episode. It looks like the CSI:NY I know is back.





I can imagine how frustrating it is for the team to be on the other side of the crime scene tape. But it is a good thing Shane Casey's involved, at least it's their case and they managed to help out.





An angry Hawkes is something we rarely see, and I guess that's one of the things that made this ep special.





What I didn't like about the episode was how the title was a dead giveaway. I wish they'd have kept the fact that Shane was coming back a secret. It would've been more of a shock to the viewers because it would've been completely unexpected.





Speaking of Shane, is it me, or did Edward Furlong gain a few pounds since episode 4?





I don't really know what to say about the Mac/Peyton moment. I don't know if Peyton's being over-senstive or Mac's being a jerk. Maybe Peyton's right to kind of break it off with Mac for a while, at least it'd give them time to assess their relationship.

The title says it all. Shane Casey is back and he's still avenging his brother's death. This time, he framed Hawkes for killing a bartender. And i have to say, he planned it all really well. From the clothing to the GSR and the timing. We get to see most of the CSI team frustrated and lose their temper. I love the way Stella,Mac and Danny go against the Captain! Stella telling the Captain that if he threatens another CSI member, she'll make it her personal mission to get his badge. Danny telling the Captain to bring it on and he'll prove to him what a science geek like him can do. Mac crossed the line in the police station to see Hawkes. Not forgetting Flack, i was touched when he told the Captain that Mac would do the same if it was him in there.





Peyton broke up with Mac. She got fed up of being the "office secret" and Mac accidentaly called her Claire. So much for the lovable couple featured in the TV Guide article next week.





My heart beat very fast when Shane send a text message saying "Send Messer.Alone." So, Danny went to the abandoned bar where it used to be Shane's brother crime scene. He wore bulletproof vest and brought along an evidence kit. And he got freaked out when the jukebox suddenly turned on and played music. Then, Shane started mentioning about both of them having something in common. They both have brothers who they always/must defend. Danny sounded like he was going to break down, but luckily, he showed the evidence to Shane and proved to him that his brother was not innocent. Ian Casey indeed killed the bartender. Shane was caught and sent to jail while Hawkes is set free! The best part is we have D/L action after weeks. Danny called Lindsay "Montana"! And they both were in at least 5 scenes!! *squee*

Finally! I feel like the show is back on track. Easily the best episode so far, in my opinion. Everyone got to shine in this one. Great interactions between characters. Got to see Stella and Mac very protective of the team; Danny outraged at the treatment of Hawks. Flack trying to maintain order. A somewhat contrived plot, but I enjoyed every minute of it. Great entertainment and great performances by all!

Sheldon getting framed for murder was such a wonderful way to end the story arc. The fact that Danny did not have to kill the guy was great. Loved the fact that they did not have an innocent man die in prison and the brother was wrong. Mac and Peyton was disappointing.

One of the best episodes of this season. I don't know what has changed in this season but it is better than it has ever been. The first season seemed so dark and morose.The characters have become more human and makes one care more about each of them. It was refreshing to see Mac totally lose it over Sheldon's arrest. Mac was always no-nonsense and meticulous but he seems to be moving past his wife's death and his pain. Danny was the firebrand we all know and love. Stella and Lindsay were on the mark working and sticking by Hawks as they should be. It seems Claire Forlani's guest appearances may be coming to an end since she can't deal with Mac's inability to totally commit to their relationship and make it public. Edward Furlong as Shane Casey made an excellent nemesis for the CSI team and Danny could understand how Casey went to the wall for his brother but he also knew that no matter how much you want to believe, sometimes the ones you love let you down, and they are guilty. Excellent episode.

Now that was a \"10\" in my book!! You have Sheldon being accused of a crime we all know he didn\'t commit. We all know he\'s being framed. If we know the episode title we may even know who is behind it all - the beauty of this episode is how it all played out. The team, of course, gets kicked off the case, but they\'re still going to figure it out. It\'s like what Flack said to the Captain about Mac, that he would do the same thing if Flack were in the room. Well the CSIs will go to any lengths to help protect one of their own. So many good things about this episode: My favourite parts either involved Danny or Mac. Mac was trying so hard to stand up for Hawkes. He almost crossed the line at the police station. He figured out it was a set up and that Shane was behind it faster than anyone else (except maybe me, ha ha). I actually felt sorry for Peyton, one when he pulled her hand away from his face, and then again when he called her Claire. I think she was good for him, but it\'s true, he\'s not ready for such a committed relationship. Danny - oh poor Danny - Shane identifies with him because of Louie and the comments Danny made in the cop car when Shane was arrested. The moments in the bar, I commend Danny for not crying. I could see Lindsay trying to comfort him later (you know, a scene that got written but never filmed, something where Danny pushes her away because there is only so much his heart can take in a day and he doesn\'t want Lindsay to offer something she can\'t go through with, I may have to write that scene out in a fanfic). Anyway . . . you could almost see the dagger Shane drove into Danny\'s heart, and right at the moment when he might have broke down and done something stupid, he fell back on the evidence. The ring told the story. My only wish was that they let us know how Louie is doing - is still in a coma? Dead? Awake? I hate when things get left like that. He also called Lindsay \"Montana\". It made my day. The moment at the end - when Stella came to pick up Hawkes - I had tears in my eyes. I may be a sap, but it was so good to see her being there for him as a friend. I just LOVED this episode.
