  • Thoroughly upsetting!

    3.9
This episode pissed me off and truly made me sad. First, do we need to see Stella in danger AGAIN? Enough is enough! I am so sick of Stella being in jeopardy. They tried to make it different this time by having her be a "hero" but I'm not buying it. Second, Danny turned from a good guy to a lying, cheating dog!! I wanted to cry when I saw him kissing Rikki. This is completely unbelievable to me. Danny is not the kind of man who would do something like this. I was so sad. I don't understand how the writers could screw up a good relationship like Lindsay and Danny's. I was outraged when I realized that I wasn't watching someone's nightmare, that the embraces with Rikki were actually happening. Though I love Danny and Lindsay as a couple, I do not want them to get back together after this. A cheater is a cheater and Lindsay deserves better than that. I'm glad she gave Danny a piece of her mind. I do wish that she'd kept the declaration of love to herself though. The cheating dog didn't deserve to hear it.moreless
  • A very excellent episode. Especially because my name is 'Sean Nolan'.

A girl dies after tripping over a drain hatch and falling through a shop window to her death. Mac tells Stella to go home and rest and her apartment building is on fire.

The team investigate the fire and find the body of a man known as 'Sean Nolan'. Later it turns out that the body isn't Sean Nolan because 'Sean Nolan' returns and is a suspect because of his history of arson.

Stella finds notes in her apartment that says "Help Me" which turns out came from next door and the team investigate that the fire started in next door's apartment and that the women next door is infact a kidnapper.moreless
  • A Stella(R) episode

    9.0
You will know that I dont particluarly like Stella's char. But I was genuiningly surprised by the quality of this episode. She's the main conduct for the storyline to develop. The first scene does a good job to setup the kidnapping part of plot. Writers do a good job to vary a standard entrypoint for the viewer by placing it within an apparent crime, whcih is actually an accident.

The middle act does go flat and is barely above the quality Id expect of it. It is however, logically set out and leads to a good ending, which I had actually worked out from the first scene where Stella enters her apartment!

The action here was mainly the mystery that is generated by the investigation which turns into suspense once it is discovered who started the fire.

A pretty good story that excites w/ trepidation because of the kidnap angle. The ending is full of emotion which lends itself to helping project the score a couple more points.moreless

A very engaging episode with Stella's apartment going up in flames and a revolving cast of suspects. One would think it was an excuse to show Stella in a wife beater but the burning of her apartment was so surprising. The suspect being a former arsonist was well played mis-direction. I was very happy to find that instead of arson. A kidnapped child trying to bring help to himself was the culprit. The change in plot to a serial child kidnapper was done well and then the hunt for the children was thrilling. Stella episodes are always good and this was no exception.moreless
  • Stella is victimized once again.

    9.0
The team is convinced that an arsonist living in Stella's building is responsible starting the building on fire but some mysterious notes in Stella's apartment point to an abducted boy who only wanted to get someone's attention.

The best scene was Mac rescuing Bailey. Clearly, he has a bit of a soft spot for kids. The way he was looking at Bailey and her parents gave me the impression that he missed not having kids with Claire. The writer's did a pretty good job of showing us that even the best detectives can be decieved by people. Who would have thought that Stella's neighbor was responsible for abducting two children, certainly not Stella. It was obvious to me that the neighbor was up to no good when she left the scene of the fire with Bailey O Dell while Austin was left behind. I wasn't at all surprised to see Danny sleeping with Rueben's mother. Either the writer's have officially come up with interesting ways to show us that Danny is taking Rueben's death hard or they are deliberately trying to ruin a great character. Danny is alot of things, but I do not take him for someone who would cheat on his girlfriend. I hope this storyline is dropped and the writer's work at improving the relationship between Danny and Lindsay. At the very least, let us know that they are still friends.moreless

  • TRIVIA (13)

    • It's been shown in several occasions that the way Danny deals with hurt is pushing people away and sets up situations so he forces others to push him away. He pushed Flack away in 1x21 On the Job, he forces Mac to confront him in 1x19 Crime and Misdemeanor and now he pushes Lindsay away.

    • We could have a key in this episode as to why Danny and Lindsay's relationship is not going that well: the two of them have serious issues when it comes to opening up to each other. She kept him off her Montana trial and he is keeping her off his grieving Ruben.

    • If, according to Rikki, Danny was a stranger and just the guy she smiled at in the mail boxes, why would she let him take Ruben?

    • Adam makes a surprise face when Stella mentions shooting her boyfriend. He doesn't seem to know that.

    • Stella sees her home destroyed for the second time.

    • When Stella is walking home, she passes along the crime scene of the initial death. Those are the same window and tvs that announce Bailey O'Dell being missing.

    • We have visual confirmation that Danny does not have a Tanglewood tattoo.

    • The paintings in the episode are done by artist Clemente Bornacelli. The red painting is called Acrobat's tongue. The collection of paintings is called The Acrobats.

    • According to Stella, she only lived in her apartment for two years. This implies she moved around the time of 2x21 All Access when she had to kill Frankie. Because of her choice of privacy and self protection, Stella doesn't know any of her neighbours well enough to put their actions into question and to be aware of what goes on right next door.

    • Goof: Mac states that fire would have travelled down the vent down to the vacant apartment. However, the air duct looks shiny and new looking when it should have been black out of the effect of the fire.

    • Goof: Sid tells Hawkes that Marla had hairline fractures in both her thumbs due to a car-accident. Hawkes then alludes that those fractures are common with the release of an airbag. The problem is that broken thumbs aren't that common. Often, the hands will release on reflex when the airbag is released or the airbag will push the hands away without causing any damage to any of the digits.

This holds true if the driver is using the correct 10 and 2 position. But a lot of drivers occasionally move their hands around the wheel, and even place their palms and thumbs over the center of the wheel where the airbag is. In such a case, the person would not have enough time to react before their thumbs are broken.

    • Apparently Stella snores. When Mac invites her to stay with him, she states that she'd be better off at a hotel because she snores. It is also a really nice call back to 2x21 All Access.

    • When Mac and Stella bring the children out of the empty building, in the background you can see the wall of posters from season 2 episode 14 Stuck on You.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Hawkes: (About Mac) My man's getting sneaky.

    • Stella: (About Bailey O'Dell) She was within my reach, Mac, right there.

    • Mac: (To Stella) For the last two days, I've been trying to figure out how to gingerly tell you to sit this one out, go deal with the loss of your home, take care of yourself. But I realize now what a total waste of my breath it would've been.

    • Mac: (about the perp) It's always the greed that gets them.

    • Hawkes: (to Danny) It's murder, it doesn't have to make sense.

    • (After Stella leaves)
Danny: (Looks at Lindsay) Lindsay. (Pauses and Lindsay looks at him) I'm sorry. We should... we should talk.

    • (After Mac tells Lindsay to update Danny on the case)
Lindsay: (Stares at him for a minute angry) Why don't you catch up by reading this. (Hands him the files, and leaves.)

    • Flack: (talking about the victim) Her cell's been ringing non-stop.
Mac: She's all dressed up. Someone is calling wondering where she is.
Flack: I dont have the heart to answer it and tell whoever it is the bad news that she's not gonna make it.

    • Adam: Oh and Stella, I'm, uh, I'm glad you're okay.
      Stella: Thanks Adam.

    • Adam: (talking about the papers found in Stella's apartment) And you don't recognize the writing?
      Stella: No.
      Adam : Maybe it's from a friend...
Stella: Oh and this friend wrote me a note that says "help me" ?
Adam: (slightly laughing) Maybe you're a bad cook... I'm just sayin'.
Stella: Uh, actually, Adam, since I shot my boyfriend two years ago, I don't exactly have people over.

    • Mac: I have an extra room.
Stella: I think I'm better off staying at a hotel... I snore.

    • Rikki: Last night was just sex. Before my son died, you were just a guy that I smiled at in the hallway and joked with at the mailboxes. What are we doing?
Danny: (cupping her face in his hands) Making each other feel better because Ruben's gone. There's nothing wrong with that. (kisses Rikki).
Rikki: Danny... one day you're gonna wake up and realize that Ruben's death wasn't your fault. Yes, he was with you when he was shot but it was an accident. And me, can't you see, I'm just taking advantage of the guilt you feel so that I don't have to be alone.
Danny: I don't care. I don't care cause I just want this hurt to go away. Don't you?
(Rikki nods her head, Danny kisses her again)
      Rikki: I really should go!
Danny: Ok, but this is my shirt and I'm gonna need my shirt back, okay. Before you go...
(Danny starts to unbutton the shirt and kisses her again, Rikki gives in)

    • Danny: I'm gonna get some coffee, you want some coffee?
      Lindsay: No thanks...
Danny: How long are you gonna stay mad at me Lindsay?
Lindsay: Oh, is that what this is? Me mad at you?
Danny: Is it still about missing your birthday? (pause) Look, I didn't want to go to lunch yesterday. Why go you gotta make a big deal out of it?
Lindsay: Do me a favor Danny, don't reduce me to some shallow clingy girlfriend that's starting to suffocate you, ok! That's not what this is about! Ever since Ruben Sandoval died, I feel like I've lost my best friend. And don't mistake this for jealousy ok, I know what it's like to lose someone you care about, to see them one day and not see them the next and to know you'll never see them again. I would never expect you not to grieve but clearly you've just decided to do it all on your own. (pause) Ok, I get it (standing up to leave), my mistake for thinking that you might need somebody to lean on. And you know, for the record, I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at myself because I've fallen in love with you and I have to figure out how to let that go. (Lindsay leaves the room)
