Nitpick: Despite what is claimed in this episode, there is no evidence to support absinthe causing hallucinations.
Edit: Many years ago absinthe used to contain wormwood, which DID cause hallucinations (sometimes death). This is why absinth with wormwood is no longer legal.
Edit: Wormwood is the key ingredient(and namesake) of absinthe and it is still used to make modern day absinthe (for example Bohemian style Absinth from the Czech Republic which closely resembles the tradition form). Wormwood in a pure form is poisonous causing kidney failure, however in proper dosage it is not harmful and is most commonly used as stomach medicine not to mention its use in vermouth and some wines. There is no evidence that absinthe or even wormwood cause hallucinations.
Danny: You know what you're gonna have?
Ava: Me and my husband want it to be a surprise.
(Danny knocks on her stomach. Stolen goods fall out.)
Stella: Hey look! It's twins!

This episode, including the news story plot line, is identical to the movie The Skulls, which followed the death of a college journalist who was trying to expose the society. Hill Harper played the role of the murdered journalist.
It's mentioned that the motive for Brian's murder is a standard college regulation that specifies that a student whose roommate commits suicide or otherwise dies out of a violent death automatically receives a 4.0 grade point average for the current school term.
This is an urban legend (which has a number of variations) that was part of the plot of two 1998 movies, Dead Man on Campus and Dead Man's Curve, along with episode 252/12-4 of The Simpsons, Lisa the Tree-Hugger, episode 2/1-2 of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Art and C.S.I.'s episode Up In Smoke.
Danny: Shopgirl's got it down to a science.
Shopgirl is the title of a 2005 movie starring Claire Danes and Steve Martin. Martin also wrote the screenplay.
Episode title: Some Buried Bones.
The title of the episode and the plot of a secret society on the campus of a college make a refrence to the "Skull and Bones" society, a secret organization that exists at Yale University, which has supposedly had such members as George H.W. Bush. Also "Skull and Bones" meets in a building known as "The Tomb" and the society in this episode meets in "The Crypt."
