Another sports-themed episode and another entertaining one as well for CSI: NY. No big name guest stars like Danica Patrick last time, but the story was well-told froms start to finish making that unnecessary. Not only was the story fast-moving, but it was a great commentary on the struggles of retired boxers and the injuries that come with the sport. As a sports buff the episode did not insult my intelligence and that is always a plus.

CSI: NY's ratings are down this year, and I really do not know why. The show has been putting on some really great episodes this year.

Ok... It was a nice chapter but a totally filler one... Not a single mention to Shane Casey... I liked that all the characters were in and although it was slightly Mac centric it had a good deal of everyone in it. No DL moments either they just were in the same room once in the whole chapter.... Very little Stella but I liked Lindsay and her working on the field with Hawkes. And Danny not appearing until minute 10?? that has to be the first time this happened!!

The story was a good one and quite emotional but not great. A one time great boxer that ends up buried alive in concrete after an illegal fight...

    All in all, good filler...*rolls*
  • Great episode! Worth watching.

I love this show. I would have to say this is my favourite show on TV. This episode was great! I liked how they showed you how they got the body out of the cement block. For once, I was surprised at who did it and how. It was a great twist. Knowing full well that if Joe went into another fight he wouldn't live through it due to his brain injuries. His old trainer hooked him up with this fight. It was done out of greed on the trainer's part. Joe 'The Gladiator' fought because he missed it.

Many times during its run "CSI: NY" has proven that it is just as good a show as the original "CSI" and "CSI: Miami." A big reason why the show works so well is its first rate cast. Once again Gary Sinise gives an excellent performance in this episode. The final scene when he confronts the man who killed the victim is a highlight of this episode. Despite its flaws (How exactly did the "killers" know about the construction site?), this episode is definitely worth seeing. The footage of the amature fights posted on the internet defintely looked very genuine.
  • |Very straight forward and predictable.

In this episode of CSI New York, the following happens. When a body is found under a solid block on concrete at a construction site, the CSI team are called in to investigate. When they finally manage to get the body free, they ID him. We learn that the victim Joe was an amateur fighter. From the evidence we learn that on the night he died, he won a fight, but the damage done in the fight, killed him. So basically his death was an accident, but his body was dumped by his so called manager/friend/family and the man who arranged all of the fights. But as the episode ends we learn that Joe was in a coma-state when he was buried alive, in cement. Overall not as good as I was hoping for. CSI New York normally is an excellent how, but this episode lacked something. It was just too predictable for me.
  • A very straight forward crime solving story.

"Tales from the Undercard" is a CSI: NY episode that isn't too dissimilar from the usual yore, but it is still a very solid and convincing piece. When a body is found buried in a construction slab, the team must get cracking and find out who the culprit is. Eventually it is revealed that the victim is a washed out boxer who has gotten mixed up in a illegal ultimate fighter type like events. Of course, every CSI: NY episode seems to have its weird piece of evidence, this time being a whale bone (yes, you read right) but it is explained in a half believable way. This episode didn't contain anything necessarily new to the show, but compared to the rest of this mediocre sixth season, it is one of the better episodes in recent memory. Overall, a very well put together, straight forward crime solving story.
