  • The Taxi cab killer is caught

    9.5
The fear of getting a taxi in NY is over when the Taxi cab killer is finally caught. The episode had continued from the previous episode when Reed got into the taxi and it then gets personal for Mac as he tries to find him with help from Reed leaving clues to his location.Even when they find Reed his throat is slit but they manage to get him to a hospital and the Taxi cab killer manages to escape but after tracking him down they manage to find him at his hideout.A fantastic end to a good storyline and the season finale isn't even here yet.moreless
  • good episode...

    9.0
Well, this is the second episode of CSI:NY that I've seen and it was really good. I think I missed some of the character things because I haven't seen other episodes. For starters, I have no idea who Claire is so I didn't know Reed's relationship to Mac. Anyways, the story was interesting. A cab man was killing people and it turned out that he thought he was some religious savior person. The whole idea of the blog and the source being the killer was interesting. I liked how each character reacted differently to the situation. Overall, another good episode and I can't wait to see another.moreless
  • A cab screeches to a stop in front of the police precinct, almost running down Detective Flack in the process. A dead body falls out, and Mac must decide if the Cabbie Killer is really dead, or if this is just a ruse.moreless

    9.5
I really liked this episode of CSI:NY. It started out strong, even though we all knew that Cabbie Jimmy was NOT the Cabbie Killer; that would be way too easy and so very anticlimatic. Once the Cabbie Killer kidnapped Reed, the episode became extremly suspenseful. Mac's frustration and aggrevation was convincing enough to instill the same emotions in the viewer. What was most suspenseful was the fact that Reed is (not to me) an expendable character. It is easy to imagine a new story line with Mac's anger over Reed's death, and the viewer could never be sure if he would live. It would have been very different if, say, Mac himself had been kidnapped. Every viewer would know that there was no way that Mac Taylor would be killed off, so the suspense level wouldnt be there.moreless
  • I actually like this episode

    9.1
This episode was one of the best in a while. I found it to be really exciting! Trying to find out whether reed surviving and I love how reed gave clue to Mac that was really great of him!!! I wish I remember when he first came, my family did but I don't.

Love the chemist with Mac and Reed, hope to see more of reed in future season, that be great!

Great to see Quinn Shelby (Kristen Dalton) acting, she was in dead zone.

Love this episode, have seen better season from csi ny maybe that is also because I like Danny and Lindsay together as a couple, their chemist is still good, but it isn't the same when they are not together, and I can't believe… only one more episode till this season is over…moreless
  • Conclusion to the Taxi Cab Killer Storyline

    10
Finally the "Tax Cab Killer" is caught. Using state of the art high tech equipment and good CSI/Detective work Mac & company race against the clock to save Reid from the "Taxi Cab Killer", but he gets away. Reid gives Mac an idea of where he was when he was bound and locked up in the killers trunk with his latest victim. Mac uses the information to find the "Taxi Cab Killer" in an abandoned fire station in New Jersey. The "Taxi Cab Killer" thought he was doing God's work by killing people and helping them to pass across the river of Styx.

This was a great episode and conclusion to this story line. The way Mac analyzes things and is able to pick out clues makes him in my opinion the best CSI Detective from all of the CSI Shows.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (12)

    • Hawkes uses Danny's nickname for Lindsay and calls her Montana.

    • Reed writes in his blog: No one should be written about with anonymity. But then, she shouldn't be dead. He is clearly talking about his fellow unnamed victim, who died just because she got in the wrong cab, but he is also talking about his mum. Claire died anonymously with thousands others on 9/11 and her body was never recovered. Both cases are examples of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    • Reed manages to get Mac's attention through his blogs using Claire's name.

    • It is ironic that the cabbie killer shouts to his victim Why can't you see who I am? since we never get to know his real name.

    • Jordan, despite having been somehow close to Mac in the past, didn't know about Reed as opposed to Stella.

    • It is striking that Reed's parents are nowhere to be seen considering that their son almost dies. When Reed was beaten in season 3, Mac said he wanted him to stay with his parents that night, indicating they lived closed to NY.

    • Reed is from Chicago, same as Mac. That is a connection they share other than Claire.

    • Goof: When Stella is searching for the abandoned fire house, the computer prompts her to enter Paramters, rather than Parameters.

    • Goof: When Reed is in the trunk with the Taxi Cab killer's dead victim, her eyes briefly blink.

    • newyork24-7news.com leads to the CSI New York website.

    • Claire gave Reed up for adoption before she met Mac. Reed is 23 years old, which is not consistent with the fact that he mentioned in season 3 of having waited until he was eighteen to look for her Claire, which was a year and a half ago. That would make him 19, 20 tops depending on when his birthday is.

    • The Fuma Dome uses super glue to help find fingerprints faster.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Jordan: I'm not trying to give you a hard time here, Stella. Don't make me the villain. I'm on your side. I just wish you were on mine.
Stella: What's that supposed to mean?
Jordan: Why am I the last to know that Reed is practically Mac's son?
Stella: It wasn't my place to share that information.

    • Stella: If Reed's using Claire's name in his blog, he's gotta be sending you a message, Mac.
Quinn: Mac. Who is Reed to you?
      Mac: He's Claire's son, Quinn.

    • Reed: You're not blaming me for this guy's death?
Mac: I'm blaming you for putting a target on his back.

    • Jordan: Can either of you help me explain to the mayor how sensitive information about an active serial killer case ends up on an Internet blog?
      Stella: What sensitive information?
Jordan: The existence of carvings on the victims' necks.
Mac: Are you accusing this lab of leaking out information?

    • Stella: Well now that's odd. 'Cause a man was murdered and dumped out of cab that was leaking G-oil. Yours is the only cab company in the city that uses it.
      Flack: Care to explain that?
Jeff Conte: You're the detective. Ain't that your job?
Flack: Yes, it is. And I plan on staying here while every cab is processed and every log book checked and if I find out that either of you two are lying to me, you're gonna find out just how well I do my job.

    • Mac: Quinn. I see Jersey City sent its finest.

    • Mac: Come on, give me something. Anything.
Flack: Look, I know I sound like an idiot. It was a yellow cab. That's all I got.

    • Angell: (After checking out the vic's wallet) Don? Jersey City P.D. Think it was
      him? The Cabbie Killer?
Flack: Well, if it was, he just upped his game. The son of a bitch killed a cop.

    • Mac: (Pressing Reed's wound so he doesn't bleed out) Don't die on me! Don't die on me.

    • Mac: (To Reed as he takes Reed home from the hospital) We can all begin to heal.

    • Hawkes: What do we got, Montana?
Lindsay: (smiles) Haven't heard that in a while.
      Hawkes: Just slipped out. Sorry.
Lindsay: It's OK. I kinda missed it.

    • Stella: How'd it go with Reed?
Mac: How do you think it went?
Stella: I think you pushed. And he got mad and refused to give up his source. And then one of you stormed off.
Mac: Well, if you told me that before, you could've saved me the trip.

    • Cabbie Killer: All human beings that are doomed lose the right to be redeemed.
Mac: And must be put to death. Leviticus twenty-seven, twenty-nine.
      Flack: L2729.

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Cabbie killer: I am Charon, the son of Erebus and Nyx.

According to the Greek mythology, Charon transports the souls of the dead to Hades through the River Styx. He was the son of Erebus (meaning total darkness) and Nyx (meaning night). Actually in Greek, the word Charon is synonymous to the word death.

    • Cabbie Killer: All human beings that are doomed lose the right to be redeemed.
Mac: And must be put to death. Leviticus twenty-seven, twenty-nine.

Leviticus, in Judaism, is third book of the Torah which are the five books of Moses. In the Christian Bible it is also the third book of what is referred to as the Old Testament.

    • Episode title: Taxi.

The title of this episode is reference to the TV show of the same name.
